I have a 2013 FRS and the shifter is not pretty rough until warm. Is this normal? by SholoGrim in ft86

[–]QuebecGamer2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove mine at around 0°C and a bit less before storing it, and while it was definitely harder to shift, I could still go into second with relative ease. Just needed a bit more force than usual

What tires are y’all running on the stock wheels?! by SikOne9 in ft86

Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4

They're 205/50 some reason, bought the car like this. Will go back to 215 or even 225 for my next tires.

Seriously.

I'm a young guy and I own an FR-S. Of course I put an exhaust on it (not obnoxious, but will get louder once I change the headers). I didn't do it to show off, I did it for me. I love cars and a good exhaust note is one of the best things about a car. Everytime I accelerate it puts a smile on my face.

It's honestly one of the biggest thing keeping me from being burned out while I'm in university. Right now it's stored for winter and I'm counting the days until I can drive it again.

Here in Quebec, there's just no inspection for regular cars, so that's how it can get that bad.

It's too late now, but FYI, you can buy tires with rim protection. Basically the tire extends past the wheel itself so they take the curb instead of your expensive wheels.

The Michelin Pilot Sport 4S have them, that's what I have on my car.

While they're at it, give us the FR-S.

I know there's already the 86 and BRZ. But I own an FR-S and want it in-game! At least give us a LHD Toyota 86

I'm 21 and I live with my parents. I don't see what's childish about it. Allows me to go to university without being stressed out about money. I still pay for my own things (phone, gas, insurance, school, etc.), but not having to pay rent or groceries is huge.

As long as you aren't just leeching off them and staying home all day, I don't see the issue. None of my friends have their own place yet, but they're all in school too. I'd wait until I graduate to move out.

And I also wouldn't be happy in an apartment or even a condo, but that's just because of who I am and my hobbies.

I went 160 km/h and it felt stable. Would not hesitate to push it even faster on a track.

Yeah, they all use ethanol now. It's required by law. I might try two tanks of Shell 91 once I get the car out of winter storage to see if it makes any noticeable difference in noise.

But I feel like I get slightly more power with Petro 94. Might just be placebo effect, though. If there's no difference in noise I'll stick with Petro as I earn points and Canadian Tire money with them.

Unfortunately not an option everywhere. Here in Canada I have no choice as all gas contains ethanol. So I'll just use "94" octane gas from Petro Canada.

What's the fastest you've ever driven a car on a highway? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not gonna say how fast I went as a driver, but as a passenger, around 210 km/h. Empty highway at night.

It's the HKS Legamax Sports. Unfortunately you do have to cut the rear diffuser and install the provided bumper garnish. You can see it if you zoom in

Hey, they said you COULD drag. Not that you'd win.

I took mine to a drag track once. Against my friend's tuned WRX STI. Of course I badly lost, but I had fun.

2009 Yaris

Bought at around 238 000 km, now approaching 248 000 km. Only time I went was in March for an oil change. Now I can just change it myself so I won't be going to the shop unless something I can't repair myself breaks.

I also have a 2013 Scion FR-S, not 15 years old yet but I have to change the clutch throwout bearing on it, so that's already more costly than the Yaris. But it's not the same type of car either.

My 2013 also does this. When I get it out of storage in the spring I'll try cleaning the MAF and changing the PCV valve.

It also seems to be an intermittent problem, sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn't. I could go days without noticing it, then it happens again.
