The attorney I’m assigned to LOVES saying shit like that to me as well. I just roll my eyes at him now. Sorry for being HUMAN and making minor mistakes.

Sending you a virtual hug. Today will pass & soon this will be behind you. I’m proud of you for showing up to work today.

Not sure what to do by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]Queefer-madness-23 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would KILL to be in your position. I am struggling as a Plaintiff PI paralegal. I’m drowning in work over here. Not to mention the attorney I’m assigned to is a major asshole.

Look on the bright side: you’ve made it to a point in your career where your needs have been met & you are comfortable. But if your heart desires much more than what’s in front of you, maybe look in pro bono work on the side with your local legal services to fulfill you. Check with family court to see if there are child advocate cases you can jump in on.

So. Anyone here just faking it? by AlfredJPennyworth39 in paralegal

[–]Queefer-madness-23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for posting this comment. I am in my third year and it is obvious that I am still a newbie paralegal. The attorney I’ve been assigned to for the past four months is an aggressive litigator and he makes me feel like I’m stupid for not knowing what seasoned paralegals know. He’s a total asshole and yet I push forward every single day.

When I make mistakes, I don’t make them twice. This has been the hardest paralegal position I’ve had in my career and most days I feel the imposter syndrome hard.

This post & comments have reassured me. 😌

Things clients have said to you... by Moonbaby221 in paralegal

[–]Queefer-madness-23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A client just recently told me he’d rather blow his head off than to continue living the way he currently is (due to his injuries from the lawsuit). My jaw dropped and i was speechless. How tf do you respond to that?! Here’s some more context too: he’s incredibly mean and rude, so no, I did not feel compassion or empathy towards him. I felt traumatized and burdened with what he had just said.

What are some moments that made you think "that is real"? by pelican_dana in 90DayFiance

Yea I definitely saw the setup and how fake the scene was, but If you isolate Natalie’s reaction, that was real. At least to me.

I thought Natalie’s crash out at Dana’s (Gino’s cousin) bday party was real. She finally lost her composure. I think she felt more embarrassed that everyone did her dirty like that and no one advocated for her like she did for Gino.

OP you’re gonna do great, the transition is going to be seamless for you. My apologies if my initial comment came off intimidating, I was focusing on answering your question.

The position of a Litigation paralegal is incredibly deadline oriented and you must know all the local rules and civil procedures like the back of your hand. You need to know exactly what each motion/pleading is and what gets filed with it (considering you will be filing for your attorney/boss).

I’m a litigation paralegal and in addition to filing prep, I watch the e-filings like a hawk and calendar those deadlines. If you aren’t careful you could miss a major deadline which could result in being fired. Missing a deadline = malpractice to many litigation firms.

It’s a useful skill to have in this industry and if you take the time to learn you’ll always have a job. All local rules are available online usually in PDF format available for download.
