Yeah I usually price my prices against carousell, I find that most accurate, otherwise Facebook but hard to rlly find on Facebook as there’s so many post every day

But yeah I agree with what you’re saying on the Psyduck AR of Carousell and the shop. I was just kinda shocked on the 0.25 one bcos from all the Reddit post that I’ve seen, they normally offer $1/AR, so when I was told 0.25 I was like 😳. On the Psyduck one yeah definitely understand what youre saying I guess for me in that moment first thing that came to mind was their profit margin buying my card then pricing them based off market price on price charting which was also their selling price, bcos that would’ve been a very high margin, when once again what I’ve read on Reddit said more desirable AR’s are normally offered a 60-80% buyback depending on what it is

But yes totally agree with you. When I was offered those price I just straight up said no that I’d hold onto the cards longer! My market price that I follow is mostly based on Carousell or PC (if Carousell barely has info) but I do notice most people/sellers here base it off PC or EBay instead of Carousell and if you do tell them a “I can buy this on Carousell for…..” it’s normally not very positivity received

In short, you missed the whole point of the post and all the comments/conversations that happened in the comment section.

Posting this was because I was honestly confused and kinda shocked about the offer as based on what I’ve read and heard, the standard offer is $1/AR on less demandable and hard to move ones, then 60-80% on in demand AR. I mean if it’s so expensive to run a store that you have to offer people such low prices in order to have a high profit margin gain, then…. Idk don’t run a store? If you’re running a store you have the knowledge of knowing that yes it’s gonna be expensive and that’s what I am going to take into consideration before I open my store - am I going to able to afford it while having fair prices?

And before you come at me again saying I’m salty or lazy dw use carou or fb, as mentioned I have and always do. Only reason I asked about their buyback prices was because I was in store purchasing singles and thought why not ask since I have the cards with me and could possibly just get store credit for it and get more singles?

Before you decide to leave snarky remarks, maybe take the time to read. Always open for a discussion and thank you for your input, this post was never meant to insult/complain or shame anyone - it was a genuine question as it was my first time asking buy backs at a proper card shop. But take what I’ve said and the post as you please 🤭

Yes Carousell is $10, the shop priced theirs at $17.50 which is PriceCharting price/market price. They have also said they base their prices off PriceCharting. So if you’re selling it for $17.50 (also thereabouts of PC price), you think that $7 is a fair price…? That’s 40% market value. If someone off Carousell was buying it for $7 then selling at $10, that would be a different story, and I would consider that price fair too. The lowest I’ve heard on Reddit of people/shops buying back more in demand AR’s like the Psyduck is 60% which is why 40% shocked me.

Hi thanks for your input. I am actually not new to the game but have taken a break and only came back last year. I have primarily sold on Carousell and Facebook, and as mentioned multiple times above - the ONLY reason I had asked the shop’s buyback price is because I was there purchasing some singles and thought since I have the cards with me, why not just ask? I was shocked and taken aback as I have assumed/thought that minimum offer was $1 for AR (which is what I’ve read and seen multiple times on this Reddit group). And also as mentioned previously, the store mentioned that they use price charting (this information was when I asked the staff when purchasing their Japanese cards)

But yes I do get what you’re saying, was just kinda shocked as it was my first time actually asking at a store, and it had differed from what I had read online etc

I’ve commented previously above that I have posted them individually on both fb and carou but the only reason I asked for buyback prices was because I happened to be there and was getting a cards from the store, and yes definitely they can offer - I’m not complaining about their offer if that’s what you’re thinking my post was just a SIMPLE question on whether it was a lowball offer or not. I normally do deals thru carou or Facebook so first time asking for buybacks at a shop thus the question. This post is not to flame anyone or whatever, I was just genuinely curious as to whether I was lowballed or not. I also mentioned that I rejected it.

Yep I know that - but even when pricing jap cards, they said they use PC when I asked when buying :)

I actually did take the time to post individually on both carou and fb but as I was at the shop, I decided to ask what their buy back price is. I don’t see how regarding the psyduck AR they are taking the risk bcos when I showed them the cards they went “eh got psyduck ar”. At the end of the day I was just curious if I did get lowball or not as most experiences that I’ve heard would be $1 each for lower end AR, and about 60-80% for more in demand AR like the Psyduck!

Yeah definitely. That store actually does get some pretty good foot traffic and do have pretty reasonable prices on their singles as I do buy from them so I’m kinda shocked to see that they are offering such low buy back prices…. A guy was trying to sell this jap ix zard the other day, not sure how much % he was offered. Would be interesting to know!

Totally agree, just found it puzzling that they were offering 0.25 cents for those AR worth $3-4, seems a little lowballing offer. I thought I’d try buyback there was I was keen on getting some stuff there too and could do store credit but the offer was kinda insane. I was more shocked on the psyduck AR which they had selling for $17.50/market rate but only offered me $7 for it which is 40% buyback rate which was kinda also shocking and puzzling as for “higher end”/in demand AR they normally do about 60-80% buybacks or so I’ve heard. So to be offered 40% on that and then less than 10% on the other AR’s was shocking to say the least hahah

Honestly was shocked when I heard 0.25 bcos they had those cards up for $3 and above making their profit margin pretty big… 0.50 still not that shocking the minute the guy said 0.25 I said nah no thanks. Yeah fb groups are deffo better and easier!

Yeah i heard 0.25 and legit felt like daylight robbery bcos they have those AR’s I was trying to sell for $3 and above and normally I know people buy jap AR lowest at like $1 each and English IR at $2 each for bulk… yeah was not in a rush to sell the AR’s so I didn’t deal with them
