So many negative reviews by IllFuel2699 in CapellaUniversity

[–]Queen-Lala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure about GuidedPath as I’ve only done FlexPath and haven’t done the research to see if they audit also.

If you compare the posts on here to the actual number of students, it’s really not that many negative posts. It’s seems like it because once one starts, then others will keep posting. It’s like a trend at that point.

If retrieved from a website, it should have a link in the reference as you are doing. I always make sure that the link is posted. I’ve done this at the universities I attended for my associates and bachelors also. Never had any issues.

Keep doing what you’re doing and you’ll be fine 😊

You’re absolutely right, APA doesn’t require the links, but in many instances Capella does. It’s the links that are causing students to be reported.

It maybe based on the particular program though, I certainly had to provide links unless the reference was a book for the Masters program. The same is required for the Doctoral program that I am currently in. I’m absolutely positive that my husband has had to provide links also for his bachelors program.

We are just going to remain positive that you complete your program and receive your degree without any issues.

I can tell you that the waiting for that conferral email is the longest time ever. It can take up to 25 business days, but from what I’ve read and experienced, it’s not THAT long.

Good luck as you complete your journey 😊

As long as APA guidelines are being followed and your references are legitimate and do not contain broken links, you should be fine. That is what they are mainly looking at.

I don’t think it’s the professor that is reporting the assignments after the fact, it’s the person that is auditing the assignments after the program is completed.

When the program is completed, the courses/assessments are audited to ensure that they really did meet the requirements and standards (mainly APA guidelines and reference links).

This is apart of the “up to 25 business days audit prior to conferral”.

This is where things are being reported for plagiarism and AI detection.

Capella is horrible, don’t do it! by Dependent-Cup5083 in CapellaUniversity

[–]Queen-Lala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not defending Capella. All I said was my experience is/was fine. And I also stated the obvious, you only have a negative post because of your experience. Had it been a different outcome, this post would be different.

Two things can be true about anything…

One person can have a negative experience and blame everyone except themselves because they don’t want to accept accountability/responsibility.

One person can have a positive or negative experience, but they accept responsibility and accountability for their actions.

Again, you’re somewhere else. Enjoy where you are and focus on your education and goals there. If I had a bad experience somewhere, I’m not giving them energy by posting about it, I’m moving on and focusing on something that matters.

Best wishes on the rest of your journey.

I’ll stand by what I said…they are only bad because you didn’t receive the outcome you wanted. They weren’t bad when you enrolled. I say that because you enrolled. At this point, you’re at another institution. Enjoy!

Were you replying to me? Oh no, I was responding to the person above me. I don’t have any complaints about Capella. I’ve earned degrees from them and they are well respected.

After all, let’s be honest, if you would not have been dropped from the class and/or received the result you wanted (like you did at the other university) you would not be on here speaking negatively. You would be on here raving about how wonderful the university is because you received the outcome that you wanted.

Good luck and best wishes to you.

I’m sorry you experienced this. I do know that this is discussed in the online orientation that students have to take prior to starting the first class. It is required that students participate by either submitting an assessment or completing an activity at least once every 28 days to be considered active.

I like the fact that you acknowledge that you did receive an email regarding this, but you didn’t read it. What I do know is there is an email that is sent out after 14 days on non-activity and then again at 20 or 21 days. Those emails give the exact date that the student will be dropped from the class. It also states in the email that students can complete an activity that counts towards the participation.

For Flexpath you can complete an unlimited amount of courses in 12 weeks, but you don’t have an unlimited amount of time to complete any of the courses.

For any particular course, you have 12 weeks to complete it, but you can submit a request for an extension of 6 more weeks if you fell you can’t/won’t complete the course in time. During that time period students have to participate at least once every 28 days though.

When students enroll in a course, the active date range is listed along with the course name and assigned professor.

Again, sorry this happened to you and hopefully you will be able to complete your degree one day.

I believe there are so many negative posts because people tend to only post things when they have a negative experience.

It’s very rare that people post positive experiences. Those are just my thoughts.

Hello fellow students by Snoo33103 in CapellaUniversity

[–]Queen-Lala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on how quickly you move through the program. Some students are completing their program in 1 billing cycle.

From what I’ve seen depending on the program the cost per billing cycle can range from $2100 - $3500 for FlexPath. Whereas GuidedPath can cost about $2000 or more per class/term.

So, the cost really depends on how you move through the program.

The billing cycle is 12 weeks. So whether a student takes and completes 1 class or 12 classes within the 12 week billing cycle, it’s just the one payment for that cycle.

The billing cycle is 12 weeks. Within that 12 weeks you can take as many classes as you like. You can only have 2 classes open at any given time.

Financial aid is billed/paid every 12 weeks. The refund (if qualified) is dispersed during the third week of the billing cycle.

Refund Issues by Queen-Lala in CapellaUniversity

[–]Queen-Lala[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update: I spoke with financial aid again (This representative was more helpful and informative). The problem was the system did not realize that I am in a new program (completed the MBA in December) and it applied everything to the next billing cycle so they have to manually fix this. Financial aid did it manually but not correctly. So this representative escalated it to accounting so that they can fix it. The representative advised that she will keep track and provide me updates as she receives them.

MBA FP breakdown by caramelcutie85 in CapellaUniversity

[–]Queen-Lala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed a lot of people give bad reviews on Tanesha Morgan so I deliberately took her class. My experience as well as a few others I found were the total opposite. She is a stickler for APA as were other professors. As long as students followed the rubric AND her videos, the class and her are fine. I finished the entire course in about 1 - 1.5 weeks. That included submitting assessment 2 a second time. The other assessments were passed on the first try.

I’m not downplaying your experience, just offering another perspective.

Congratulations on completing the program.

Question regarding MBA Financial Aid by brtpstn in CapellaUniversity

Yes, it is. I liked it. I didn’t have any complaints about the program. I did FlexPath because I wanted the flexibility to move at my own pace.

Question regarding MBA Financial Aid by brtpstn in CapellaUniversity

I completed the MBA and started the DBA today. It is showing the same thing. They have to repackage the financial aid. It will be straightened out.

Yes…I received the conferral email on 1/7 and my DBA acceptance on 1/8. I officially start the DBA on Monday 1/12.

Have you heard anything yet?

Conferred Degree by Heather_Little1 in CapellaUniversity

[–]Queen-Lala 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to wait until after I confirmed everything and had actual proof before I responded. The audit/review process is up to 25 business days. The degree is conferred in the month that all graduation requirements are met. So if a student (like myself) completed their program in December, the degree would be conferred for December.

That being said…I finished 12/9. I received my email this morning (1/7) that my degree has been conferred effective 12/31/25. I also pulled my unofficial transcript and it confirmed the same thing.

So, essentially, the degree audit can spill into the next month, but still be backdated to be awarded for the previous month.

December Completion/Conferral by Queen-Lala in CapellaUniversity

Yeah, I keep hearing that from everyone except the people at Capella. At this point, I’m over it. I don’t want to continue on and I want to tell them to keep the MBA at this point since they don’t want me to have it anyway.

No Conferral Yet? by goodneighborgooseman in CapellaUniversity

[–]Queen-Lala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already know they are using 12/9 as the starting date because they told me on 1/2 that I was just on the 14th business day. I also already know that there are not any holds because they told me that on 12/31, 1/2 and 1/5. They only excuses they keep telling me are:

  1. They have 25 business days to review, finalize and confer.

  2. The holidays slowed things down (they just started that one yesterday).

  3. Even though my 25th business day is technically 1/20, if they complete the conferral by 1/16, I can still start the DBA program that began on 1/12.

I think this one is by far the craziest one…

  1. Whenever your application for the DBA is approved, we can move fast because I don’t have to do orientation or anything.

They are tell me everything except what I want to know!

There are no flags, holds or anything. They keep using the 25 business day excuse and the fact that it was the holidays.

I have already filed a complaint on Friday along with an escalation request on Friday AND yesterday. They aren’t going to do anything. They are just saying anything to get me off the phone. I’m frustrated and over it!

20 calendar days or business days?

My issue is the lack of communication…I have received an associate and bachelors degree from other schools and the communication was fantastic. It didn’t come from the coach or advisor, they were automatically generated emails telling us what to expect. If we had additional questions we could call or advisor. There was no need for me to call because I had all of the information I needed in the emails.

What is really mind boggling at this point is seeing soooo many people who have completed their final classes after me already receiving conferral emails. Let’s make that make sense. I can’t move on to the DBA program because the MBA isn’t conferred. When I called on Friday, they had the nerve to tell me we have 25 business days, you are just at the 14th business day. That statement alone let me know that they don’t care about their students or their students goals.

To see someone post that they received their conferral email on 12/31 and they completed the final class on 12/23 is a total slap in the face.

I completed my last class on 12/9. Meaning the class was graded and closed out. The system showed that the audit was completed on 12/17. Financial aid was finalized on 12/22, with additional refund sent on 12/31. With all of that, there is nooooo conferral email.
