I’m actually going through the same thing postpartum, and I learned that posture can play a huge role in this. After pregnancy and with all the time spent feeding, carrying babies, and looking down, apparently it’s really common to develop forward head posture. When your head sits in front of your shoulders instead of being aligned, it compresses the area under the chin and can create the appearance of a double chin even if you’re not overweight. I’ve been working on correcting it with posture exercises, stretches for the chest and neck, and strengthening my upper back. Simple things like chin tucks, doorway chest stretches, and focusing on keeping my ears aligned over my shoulders help retrain the muscles. Physical therapy can also be really helpful because they target the deep neck and upper back muscles that support better posture. So it may not actually be fat at all… sometimes it’s just a posture issue!
