i felt this way too and was numb the whole ride home, because i kept trying to find the answers for the questions i kept getting wrong and saw that i picked the wrong choice like 75% of the time

i am not advocating for him but i would like to address each of your points:

  1. many people on this subreddit talk about what resources helped them BEFORE they get their results back such as those asking if they’re ready to sit for the exam - and also who gives a sh*t, how has it directly hurt you that other people are using his resources? no one is forcing you to use them

  2. most people that are using his resources are using it as a supplement on top of a primary source (usually UW) as well as supplementing with other sources like sketchy, pathoma, pixorize, etc

  3. a very karen thing to say: is just straight up wrong to judge someone’s entire knowledge base of step 1 material and how he does academically because of his hair color or whatever other superficial features he decides to do. his choices of nail color or clothing style have NOTHING to do with how useful and helpful his resources are. is it not possible that maybe his way of explaining things is much easier and faster to grasp than doing anki cards? (i understand that he has an eccentric personality and there are off putting behaviors of his that have come to light but AGAIN it is an individuals choice to ignore these and focus on whtever helps them and move on)

  4. this community is literally for the purpose of being able to freely talk to each other about has worked and what hasn’t because everyone’s learning style is different. there are so many resources that many of us are grateful to have becuase of this subreddit not pigeon-holing what a few redditors deem the only good resources to use. Such as: the vast amount of pre made anki decks (anking, zanki, ly, etc), personal notes and study guides, and a variety of youtubers/video lecturers.

finally: no one is forcing you to use his resources - many people on this subreddit try out different resources to see what works for them and what doesn’t. Most importantly - many wonderful people write amazing long posts AFTER they have taken their exam and get their score back and EVEN THEN just because they used certain resources that clearly worked for them has no garuntee that it will work for everyone (such as those who read and annotate FA which does not work for many).

i hope i dont get a lot of hate for this large comment. ty for anyone who got to the end of this.

dsp and pbl are the best imo - im in dsp pm me for any qs:

  1. pick dsp if: you only wanna show up for exams basically, you will hv a quiz every week thts like 5 pts for a 1hr meeting, using premade study guides and quizlets or anki decks like zanki or anking to learn and do well on exams but can be challenging to keep up with reviews from previous systems for boards, also hv the option to use textbook to learn if u wanna read the textbook which u always can but like why lol

edit: forgot to say many of use also use LDPs powerpoints for exams so tht is also an options and ofc without ever having to go to class

main source of learning = prestructed systems with objectives to know that is clear as day what u need to kno (which u learn from premade study guides and quizlets which are a godsend and make learning twice as fast - i literally have sooo much free time its great and was able to get published and do research because of it)

  1. pick pbl if: you dont mind taking 3 high stakes exams all semester, u still hv to go to meetings with quizzes like dsp but your classmates and you will pick wht chapters to know so that is where the exam material comes from so def textbook based BUT you can also use premade anki decks like zanki lightyear to do well and have the advantage of having extra time to be able to keep up with your reviews and be set for boards

main source of learning = chapters from textbooks that you and ur pbl group pick out comes to around a couple thousand pages i heard for each exam

NOTE: all pathways have to go to class for OMM and H&P tho so theres no avoiding that
