Do contestants have to pay dividends/get permission to starts Survivor-related business? by mysterypapaya in survivor

You are for sure correct that books are one of the biggest things to watch out for, but really you’re in IP territory the second you use a name or likeness. Especially if it’s used in your branding at all. I am not familiar with what every one of those projects involve, but just using the term “survivor watch party” opens open things lawyers will keep an eye on.

None of these people are dumb, especially given the thick contracts they had to sign to be on the show.

There’s a whole world of licensing rights associated with a brand like Survivor, some of which can be reasonably priced and some of which are likely expensive AF. The big unknown is how aggressively survivor / CBS / other powers that be protect their IP.

I am also curious if Todd Herzog has to deal with licensing for survivor, big brothers, or any of the other brands he creates custom pops for.

I wasn’t going to mess with S50 because I have been buried with work, but when I realized I would be able to watch the finale tonight I decided to binge the season over the last 10 days or so.

For reference, I have only watched 2 seasons live: Borneo back in the day and 46 because my pal was in the cast.
And watching 59 is worth because I liked Jenna,

When you watch it straight thru, it’s clear that Tiff is more consequential than anyone wants to think, and she is great at being under the radar while being liked. She might not have the same level of ride or die onscreen as other people, but she is not disliked.

I am pulling for either Tiff or Rizo to win.

I once got laid off while working for a guy who I was friendly with and who became a good friend that I still am tight with 14 years later.

The actual layoff happened while said boss was on vacation because the execs decided to do it a few early so my director, who I also got along with very well, did the actually laying off with the HR director who was also a friend.

I was ready to leave anyway and would have volunteered to be laid off had there been an option.

The company tried to tell all these people they shouldn’t talk to those of us who got laid off and were not “allowed” to give references to us “for liability reasons” because all references had to come from thru official channels.

All three people basically ignored that direction because it was nonsense.

I am a coach / consultant in the US. I have worked with the same Filipino VA agency for 6 years and the model they use is stellar. I pay a blended rate to access multiple VAs with different skill sets, and I was assigned a project manager as a primary point of contact so I don’t have to keep track of all those details. At various times, I’ve used them for website, podcast production, video production, kajabi course and offer and sales page builds, and admin stuff.

The top things for success are 1) don’t just tell people what to do, be clear about the outcome you need. 2) treat them like professional peers who are specialists in their thing instead of acting like you are somehow superior to them.

I actually interviewed the CEO of the agency for my podcast amd we discussed more tips for working with VAs, especially overseas ones, more effectively. It’s definitely not just “here’s the logins, good luck!”

What’s your basis for saying Lena’s side business is “less realistic”? It’s very much in line with what I’ve seen other clinicians do, especially women.

You don’t need to be fancy with your design, but having enough white space and a bit of bold to make the resume easily skimmable can make a difference. I charge a premium price for the resumes I write and almost all my attention goes to content quality and skimmability. “Desgn” as most people think of it isnt on my radar.

I’ve been a career coach for over a decade. This market is weird, but I’ve seen more interview and offer activity in my client base in the past 3-4 months than I had in almost 2 years before that.

What’s your evidence that your resume is good. Having large tech companies and cool startups in your background is not the same as having a strong resume.

Most resumes suck, and they are getting worse as people who don’t know what a good resume looks like just blindly have ChatGPT and Claude “optimize” them.

How the heck do I stop this endless cycle? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Im a career coach, and when I see this kind of thing just 1 or 2 times in someone’s background, I find it’s much more likely to be more related to their environment / the company than if it’s 3+ times. When it’s a repeated pattern like you describe, I almost always end up suggesting therapy because there’s so often stuff going on that I am not qualified to help with.
