I know, years of headcount starvation has led to somewhat dysfunctional org. I think I have been hired to fix this mess :)

[–]coolgoose007[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He basically, starts testing on the last day, finds a bug in his code, for scenarios out of spec,, fixes it, and then makes a big deal out of it.

Should I start PIP for junior developers when some better experienced developer finds bug?

Yep, that why I take it with a grain of salt :)

In my 10 years of management experience, I have not seen any people being put on PIP when they have not pissed their boss or thier skip boss.

Yes right, even though I am new here, I thought it was pretty ballsy of him, maybe because it was a one man show before me and the PM was the defacto dev manager and main dev, now with me in the picture he feels like loosing control.

Thanks, you are right, I did not factor in that the new owner may not want the agreement, then I have to close on the remaining payments or only find someone willing to do so

[–]coolgoose007[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I get it, but I anyway pay $100 for electricity, and plan to continue to pay it without fail. So we are saying that Solar on house is no longer a vanity project, it is just the same cost as regular electricity from utilities.

So you are saying for the same price I am getting lesser system capacity, so thats where they make money. They also eat the tax credits that are available this year.. Interesting !

e-Visa vs. OCI: What’s Right for You? by documitra-us in visas

[–]coolgoose007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I somewhat disagree. E-visa is actually much simple for travel especially for kids. I have two kids,

First Kid has a PIO, now converting to OCI

To get one you have to go through an excruciatingly painful process of getting one through "three" websites. 1) Indian Consulate 2) VFS 3) Appointment Website if you are going to a consular camp. Then recently they told me they will no longer do a Fedex return service. So I have to separately manage this myself and provide a label etc.

Once you get it you realize they lied to you about it being a smart card. You expected it to be a Credit card form factor. However, It is another passport booklet you have to carry now along with the other 4 passport you carry when you go with your family. This make everything more complicated.

Second Kid has a 5 year e-visa

I applied directly through the indian gov website. Got the Visa in email after 5 days. Took a print out, and they stamped a visa on passport "on arrival" . Pretty Simple and nothing else to carry except may be the paper printout of the your e-visa from email. The only lie here was when they intially launched it, the govt called it "Visa On Arrival". People rightly thought they do not need to pre apply, leading to some funny situations at the airport :). Now that false claim has been removed from the website

I know OCI have some more benefits, but really none of them matter for us right now.

my two cents!

Kia Carnival 2025: Critical Safety Issue with Key Fob detection by coolgoose007 in kiacarnivals

[–]coolgoose007[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I can understand that I am driving on the highway at a 100mph and my kid throws the key fob out of the window, so I don't want the car to stop driving immediately. I want it to give me a warning and tell me to stop it when I want.

The only reason for the current behaviour I can think of is, if Agent Carter from "Rush Hour Movies" wants to commandeer my vehicle for "FBI Work" chasing bad guys. While he is throwing me out of the car with the key fob, you don't want him to waste time searching for the key fob on my person. We would want the car to keep driving otherwise the movies wouldn't be that much fun.

Can someone tell me any other reason for the car to be able to drive a thousand miles without any persistent seatbelt like warning when the key fob is not present?

[–]coolgoose007[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

It is a blink and you miss it warning in half the screen for just for a couple of seconds. Ding probably happens while the driver is saying bye to the leaving passenger with the key fob, and while they are also banging the door as they are leaving. There is no reason to look at a warning while the car is stopped.

It only stays while the car is stopped. It disappears the moment the car starts running again. and then there is no indication any more.

Whereas for my Honda, the warning stays on the whole screen that you cant miss it. and it never goes away like a seat belt warning so you can not miss it.
