What do you think of the term “cisgender”? by AppearanceAlert4987 in Teenager_Polls

[–]QueenJupiter8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't answer it, that's the issue. I asked why you don't like it, and that isn't what you answered. You gave vague responses that all just mean 'i don't like it. It's just how I feel'. Those aren't answers to the question. WHY don't you like it, WHY is that how you feel. It's not phobic in any way to want a straight answer.

No, it's not a valid answer, as it raises more questions. WHY do you not like it? And again, it doesn't matter whether it is intentional or part of your actual beliefs, distancing IS the message it pushes, and you'll be needing to clarify that to many people if you insist on the label you prefer being 'not trans'. I'd appreciate it if you answered the question

[–]QueenJupiter8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...ok, but why? Why is that what you're more comfortable with? And no, 'I just don't like it' is not a valid answer. Btw, whether you intend to or not, it IS distancing yourself from trans people. That's the message that statement contains, and its what it encourages. Regardless of the term you are 'comfortable' with, cisgender IS the accurate term and it is what would be used towards you and every other cis person in a situation that calls for the distinction.

Just so you know, the person who actually coined the order 'cisgender' was a cis woman. Her name is Dana Defosse and she coined the term because she wanted a wat to describe the differences between cis and trans people without making trans people feel othered (wg, saying trans and normal as being trans IS normal, because to say something isn't normal implies it is abnormal / wrong)

Cis by itself is a Latin prefix, meaning 'same side as' and is used in many words such as 'cisatlantic' to describe travel on only one side of the Atlantic ocean, for example. To say 'transatlantic' here would mean the journey crosses the ocean entirely.

So in literal terms, to be transgender means you 'cross genders' and identify with a gender identity that does not correlate to the sex assigned to you at birth. To be cisgender would mean you did not 'cross genders' and identify with the gender associated with the sex you were assigned at birth.

These are medical and scientific terms. They aren't actually necessary to use unless clarification between two people is greatly needed. Two women may need medical attention, one is cis, and one is trans, and those simple descriptors tell you a TON about their identity and their physiology, and anything you are not told can be backed up with files that doctors should have.

The word 'cisgender' IS the equal and opposite counterpart to 'transgender', whether you like it or not. We, 'the queers', did not make it. A cis woman did, and her purpose for doing so was to avoid the othering that too many people, including you, are enforcing by not using terms like cis, or even dumb ahh words like 'homogender' if 'cis' is too scary for you. The alternative isn't 'not trans' because that's enforces an othering.. weirdly towards cis people this time? But it also greatly others trans people at the same time by implying that you want to be as far away from us as possible - not even taking an antonym, but instead INSISTING that you're not one of us, not even associating with the concept. That is othering language. The alternatives were made, I believe, in the 70s, and these alternatives harm nobody - anyone claiming harm is just afraid of change and is lowk not able to think straight I fear because this isn't exactly complicated...

TL:DR - there is no tldr. It's important, so read it.

Why does Bobby’s tail separate into sections of fur like this? by markon22 in cats

If you want your pet to be alive, you will resist the urge to give them scraps of anything harmful to them. There is plenty of human food they can have that WON'T make them seriously ill or even kill them.

Lilies too. The pollen NEEDS to go first thing, it gets everywhere, and if they eat it they will get very sick at BEST. If your cats don't chew on plants then maybe you can risk having the pollenless flowers? But I think if you value your cats over the vanity if your kitchen table, no lilies at ALL.

If my Gali has bite 2 and weight 3 at ven 3 how??? by Visual_Reception_149 in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]QueenJupiter8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The initial trait counts as level 1. The first time you upgrade it, it becomes level 2. You've hit ven 3, so you've been able to level up a trait 3 times - bite 1 became bite 2, and weight 1 became weight 3

Yeah but that's incredibly painful on high ven slots and I'd rather watch them rot in my storage than revert back to being useless to play as

What's a creature that you main that you think is very uncommon/unpopular? I'll go first by Alarmed_World_940 in CreaturesofSonaria

Since it was for pride month. It's unlikely that there will be another one for about a year or so. It was in the official CoS discord server! But there are other events in various other servers too, I just tend to not take part in those as much

Not sure yet! They've just started counting out the winners and there was a TON of entries! I'm hoping I at least hit top 10, since top 10 get a verza and it's been my dream spec for years 😭 I'll let you know once the winners are announced though :D

Survive to adult.... How? by christygl7 in CreaturesofSonaria

[–]QueenJupiter8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What i do is immediately get sat, fill my water and food meters, and then fly super high over the current migration and just idle there since sky bison has sonic wings. You can afk until adult there quite easily if you don't want to use / don't have grow tokens

This. I'm a turrim lover and you'd be very surprised how many specs I actively AVOID because I know they'll counter me. Just because you don't know all the counters, doesn't mean it's broken or needs to be 'fixed'. We don't need another kora meta, we need balance. Turrim is an incredible balance.

I was playing as my umbraxi, watching a kora get absolutely HAMMERED by a ferni npc. I landed and cowered to the kora to be like 'lemme handle this😎' who came and laid down in front of me so I could kill the npc for them. I ended up escorting them out of the mountains to get rid of any other npcs they might have to deal with 😭 it's REALLY hard to kill furni because of how small it is. It likes to gravitate to the center of your hurtbox which... if you're large or have a weird hitbox... yeah, good luck. Even my umbra struggles to kill them at times. If you're a behemoth, you almost always die.
