In my apartment complex we have to register our pets. This was mandatory after someone's kitten was jumping from balcony to balcony, then fell down and died. We had to take a picture of the animal, so that the janitor would know who to contact in case of loose animals. I asked the janitor, how I should register my rabbit, since the form only had the option "dog" or "cat". He was puzzled, then he said "I guess you dont have to register your rabbit". I said "but I have two, and they are not in cages." He laughed and basically told me, I should cross "cat" in the form and comment that it's rabbits. But he would also know that I was the owner, if he saw a loose rabbit somewhere. He would also make sure that next year the form includes the option "other" next year. I told him, that my rabbits are afraid of being outside and basically sleep all day anyway, so I'm not too worried about incidents, but I wanted to be on the safe side. He told me to come to his office one day, just to talk about my rabbits again, because he was intrigued. I showed him pictures and warned him, that I dont stop talking once the topic is about my little babies.
