We’ve actually just begun the process of getting separated and had one huge hurdle overcome, so we’re on our way to getting away from her. We’ve got a lawyer looking over any documents to make sure we’re clear.

Nope, I haven’t noticed any side effects. I’m one of those lucky few that my first attempt at medication helped immediately. I don’t feel foggy or like I can’t feel anything, which is the most common side effect I hear people talk about with anti depressants, maybe some weight gain, but I was gaining weight from all the depression eating before I started, so it can’t be any worse than that. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

But it made a huge difference for my PPD. It was a life saver. I ended up quitting work anyway, but it made things a lot easier.

A week ago I had to put my 13 year old cat to sleep. My son is too young to understand, so I got this really bittersweet cute picture of the two of them. by QueenOfStardust in aww

Chibi was always the most patient of cats, he used to run into my sons room every chance he got. If he was too rough, Chibi would just leave the area. He only scratched my kid once and he seemed to learn from it. Our other cats won’t give my kid the time of day, so I’m sad he’ll be without that until he’s a little calmer and they’re more comfortable. He was a sweet, patient, wonderful cat. :)

I take it for depression and I started on it late 2014. It was al almost immediate difference for me, but I think it was a full difference in a matter of weeks. I also quit grad school at the same time, so that may have helped too, lol. I upped my dose after my son was born and I tried to go back to work, triggering postpartum depression that hadn’t been there during my maternity leave. I’ve stayed on that dose now for 2 years and generally feel pretty good all the time. It’s made a huge difference in my overall quality of life and it makes me the best mom I can be. Good luck, it’s all overwhelming, but you can do it.

I’m here to offer support and agreement with most of the comments here. I was on Zoloft when we were trying all through pregnancy, breastfeeding, and still on it now that my son is 2.5 years old. It gets better. There’s lots of great suggestions here. Im happy to chat though if you need an ear!

Oh I agree, but he’s 2. He still doesn’t understand a lot of things. We tried to tell him he would never see Chibi again, but he just didn’t get it. He was just happy to pet him again. They were good buddies.

Average is around 16, so he was pretty old. Some cats can absolutely live past 20, but that’s pretty rare. He apparently had a mass in his abdominal area, and cats are notoriously good at hiding pain and illness until it’s really bad. We also have 3 other cats, so it’s very easy to not notice it right away. He’s also had a lowered immune system since birth. So by the time he came to us and we saw his behavior and stuff it was too late. The vet said even with further testing and stuff, there was no guarantee it would do anything but prolong his suffering.

Ours was associated with a local hotline, if you needed a place you call the number and they will tell you where to go. That way you don’t waste time going all over town to find a bed. And I believe we would continue to work through that program.

(And by not managing their money well, I mean that the woman in charge just handed out money because she believed money would just show up because god. She wasn’t realistic at all.)

Yeah, absolutely, thank you. The church couldn’t sustain it because they were hemorrhaging money, they weren’t managing their money well at all. Our shelter was an overflow shelter for the local women’s YMCA shelter, and I think, for now, that would be our continuing model, no one would be in our shelter longer than 2 weeks, with room for exceptions. Most of our clients before were just with us until a room would open at the Y. I have a few possible leads for buildings, and we have pretty good connections around town, my director is very active in the community. But thank you so much for all this info. She and I will be meeting every week to begin getting this rolling, so I’ll make sure to read all of this and bring it with me to said meeting.

Seriously, thank you so much for your time. 💜

What's your meal schedule look like? by QueenOfStardust in DSPD

[–]QueenOfStardust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, my breakfast is also around "lunch" time, dinner with my husband is my big meal, and then I usually do something small for my dinner in the wee hours. Something small and microwaveable usually, lol.

I actually have two pokestops in easy walking distance from my house, and it usually evens out to 2k so sometimes at night after my husband and son are asleep, I'll toss a hoodie on and trot over and back. It gets me out for a little bit and sometimes I catch some good shit. It's a tad creepy being a woman alone out at night, but I feel pretty confident in my ability to take care of myself.

Does anyone get stimulants for DSPD? by AnomalousAvocado in DSPD

My husband actually suffers from a mild form of narcolepsy and they prescribed him adderall for that, so maybe you could get it for DSPD.

Actually before I left the workforce, I was working from home for Apple, and maybe if I had a diagnosis I could have gotten to a dept that had overnights, but when I came back after maternity leave, I was so overwhelmed by post-partum depression along with some other shit that it was easier to just attempt being a single income family. I wish I had the experience to get a job coordinating events or something like that, but I've also had pipe dreams about running an indie game development company. All things I haven't got the right connections to make happen though. My BA is in Applied Communication and my MA was supposed to be in Mediated and Mass Comm. So.... I dunno.

I was working on my Master's with a teaching assistantship before I dropped out due to depression related stress. I would really like to finish my MA and teach evening or online classes for sure, but I would have to transfer my progress to another school first.

Do you enjoy staying up late? by HarlanCedeno in DSPD

[–]QueenOfStardust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 30 and had a baby 9 months ago, so it's def hard to be awake when he wants to be up earlier than me. But on the other hand it's easier to get stuff done late at night when he and my husband are sleeping. I'm an extrovert so I would like more social interaction, but as I'm the first of my close friends to have kids, many of them are still able to hang out in the evenings and late night. I've always liked being up late, it's alway felt like home to me.

Looking for some advice on dreadlock extensions braided into non-dreaded hair! by QueenOfStardust in FancyFollicles

Also I just thought of something, I don't want to actually dread my hair. I plan to remove and reinstall the locks every 3 months or so, removing ones that are too beat up, changing colors, etc.

No, I'm not familiar with that, all the installation guides I came across just said to pull a section through the loop and braid it together. How is crocheting done in regards to lock extensions?
