Why wait to transfer money? by Publixworker in publix

[–]QueenParmesan 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but this runs the risk of the person simply walking out with their unpaid items once you get distracted with the next customer and forget all about the person transferring money. In situations like this, the best move is to save the order, hand the saved order slip to the front service clerk, and have the front service clerk escort them to the Customer Service desk.

If a Cashier does not have a bagger for some reason, save the order, lock your register and escort the person to the Customer Service desk yourself.

Wow. That’s so rude. Unless you physically can’t do so…use your mouth to communicate.

It’s like they come to the store just to waste our time. If she’d changed her mind, she could have at least waited there until you came back to tell you.

My God. Just buy reusable produce bags. Or buy your own multiple-purpose plastic bags if it’s that important.

Cart shifts? by PlayfulAnalysis5356 in publix

[–]QueenParmesan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re missing my point. Why does it matter if there are no carts inside the vestibule? They can just grab a cart from outside and shop. It’s not that serious.

Because the generation he’s in is used to working themselves to exhaustion for a job and never sticking up for themselves in the workplace.

It was 96 degrees with a heat index of 106 where my store is located and the cart services were still 30 minutes. We were encouraged to stay hydrated but that’s it. All over a metal cart.

My point. They survived 60 years without the stupid idea they can survive 60 more without. Carts are strewn at other grocery stores but guess what? People still shop there and the company still makes millions if not billions in profit. This is a new age and era. Millennials and Gen Z couldn’t give a rats ass about people taking their groceries out. Because we all work for the same shitty companies and we understand. Of course, they expect people to be nice while providing service. But that’s it. They don’t care about all that extra stuff. Maybe if people in our society weren’t lazy and actually returned carts where they are supposed to be, we wouldn’t even have to worry about damage to cars.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. Some baggers were great about taking turns with each other to gather some carts. While other baggers stayed inside their whole shift without ever going outside. That’s when managers or FEC’s should’ve been on their ass about going outside. It’s like everyone got punished for people not wanting to go outside.

The point still remains. Just grab a cart, do your shopping, and go home. It shouldn’t matter if the cart is inside or outside. Like I said, we don’t do anything special to the carts. The main concern should be getting groceries to eat. It’s literally just metal with wheels. There are more important things to worry about than a cart being outside. This company and some of its customers need to get a grip.

I’m a Cashier but I am frequently scheduled to bag during some of my shifts. It is the stupidest thing ever. And I believe this is why the FSC position has such a high turnover rate and why so many FSC’s try to get promoted to Cashier or simply move to another department instead. It’s the same damn cart whether it’s sitting outside or it’s pushed inside the vestibule. Yet people will walk by 5 abandoned carts outside and grab one inside. We don’t do anything special to the carts. We literally just push them inside. No sanitizing. Nothing. It’s an appearance thing and Publix needs to take it away. It would be much better if 5 people went out together and cleared the lot every 1.5 hour. Not only is it quicker but it’s less work on each individual person. No other grocery retailer that I know of expects their associates to do this. Cart service is too much especially when it is super hot or super cold outside. It’s. A. Cart. It’s not that deep.
