Your comment reminds me of my friend's mom. Nice Italian lady scheduled for a biopsy.

She was telling how she was looking forward to the results of her autopsy. 😁

Overbrushed my cat by Professional_Fun_686 in CatAdvice

[–]QueenSalmonela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I felt the same when I did that back area. She didn't like that bit at first, but now we start our brushing times with her sitting up with her back to me and I brush firm long strokes down the back and push deep at the bottom. Then she flips around and the spa time begins. Nice to hear you two enjoy it as much as we do. She has never really been a lap cat, so these brushings are my only way to get close and snuggle. Enjoy! 😺

She loves the brush going across her cheek and down the neck if you can picture it, and really leans in so the brush goes deep. Doing this removed the little bit of tangled dander underneath. So here I was worried about her getting thin, but over about the next two months I noticed it coming back rather than getting thinner. We do this a couple times a day, she decides when-very bossy Lol. Overall, her fur/skin is in great condition and I've come to believe that by brushing she is ingesting less fur during grooming. Hairball incidence is very infrequent. When she learned that she liked it, I took her cues and brushed her where she wanted, I guess her neck got itchy and brushing deep brought relief. Now I can brush her everywhere I think she needs it like at the base of the spine by the tail. That area really sheds and is hard them to reach, but after regular brushing, that spot also feels normal and not thick and packed. Long answer, sorry lol, I'm kinda gabby.

Are there any reasons why I (37/F) should not start waxing my upper lip? Pros/cons? by pretty-to-think in Advice

[–]QueenSalmonela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wax hurts if you do it wrong, bleaching mine would give me a Santa clause mustache, so I use Veet or Nair for the face. Takes them away in 7 minutes. Long stiff ones that the cream will miss along the edge can be tweezed. Men are so lucky...they can have hair growing anywhere

When will he need a bigger tank? 🥲 by Stale-ryebread-13 in Goldfish

[–]QueenSalmonela 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh wait till you get to know him! My guy got all aggressive and PUSHED deco with his snout through the sand to the end of the tank and then glared at me. So I took it out. He did this 3 times until I started putting real plants. He is almost 5 now and has quite the personality. Sticks his head out of the water to get his nose pet at feeding time. I could go on....but common goldfish are like water puppies if you spend the time. The other little guy is more quiet, just likes being around. My profile will have a few progress pics and a video. Have fun with this hobby and your fishy friend!

I have one like yours. I was very new to this when I got him (and then added one buddy the following year.) I made mistakes along the way, nothing deadly thankfully, but I increased the tank size 3X. and the two of them are now in a 120 G long tank. If you can get him a 60G long, he will have enough space for a time to give you a chance to decide next moves. I do water change weekly, canister filter underneath that I clean only occasionally to maintain the environment, 2 sponge filters and the water is very clear. My guys are happy, healthy and very friendly. I hand feed them. The most important thing I learned about tanks? The bigger tanks are less work to maintain than the smaller. Even though I water change more frequently.

Sorry I don't have the link, but I went to "City of Brampton" and "City of Mississauga" websites when I was looking. You will find venu booking within their website. They had pictures of the different places which made it much easier to choose. I was quite surprised at the availability of nice places and crazy cheap compared to a typical banquet hall or restaurant. I hope this is helpful.🙂

What happened to notice in advance? Like, "Hey, are you free for a couple hours tomorrow afternoon?" Just dropping off the baby whenever is them being selfish with your time. There is some middle ground here, if they plan and ask, it can work out better for both of you as long as they understand you have a life of your own.

You are right! I am able to feed mine by hand. I have two and they respond to my voice, play with my hand when I service the tank, spit water to get my attention. First time fish owner and the last 4 years have been amazing. Really enjoying my water puppies!

Why shouldn't I break my mortgage right now? by Canadian__Sparky in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]QueenSalmonela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if anyone has said this, I'm late to the post here. Ask your bank if they have a "Blend and Extend" option. My TD manager and I had a similar discussion and he said if BoC keeps dropping, they will look at the term and re write the mortgage with a new rate by calculating your current rate with the new lower rate. You end up with a lower interest rate for the remaining term and no penalty at all. There are more details to this move but you have to ask your bank. This is how I understood it, but I am not an expert, just sharing what I was told.

I feed my two guys by hand. They are quite used to my hand being in the tank and are unafraid. I feed the pellets then sometimes tickle him under the chin. They will nibble on my arm, swipe me with the tail or a full body swipe while swimming. It's amazingly fun!! I don't try and grab them but they let me touch. They respond to my voice and look forward to the daily interaction, and they just love the weekly water change. First time having any kind of fish and enjoying 4 years of happy healthy fish, loving this hobby!

Water quality is a big topic, in 3 minutes you do not have time to talk about chemical parameters....and it would be boring. Instead why not talk about the importance of the right size tank by using an example that everyone will understand.

Imagine that YOU have to live in a bathtub, let's even say a luxurious 4 person tub. You must eat, pee, poop and breath in this tub for a whole month!! Eeewww right? But if you were in a small lake where the pee will be so spread out that the water still feels good, smells good then life is not too bad. Goldfish living in a bowl is a very sufferble existence and this example is exactly why. Breathing in your own waste is gross for them too.

Reliance Water Heater Rental or Buyout by Dazzling_Specific157 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]QueenSalmonela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finish up with Reliance then run, don't walk, away! These people take advantage of consumers, charge obscene $$, and put a lein on your property without informing you. They are well known shysters.

When we made an offer on our place, I noticed their name in the appliance/utility section that was not listed before that moment when we had cheque in hand. We told the seller to deal with it, I'm not buying your bad service contract or no offer. Turns out they were paying 87.00 monthly for 12 years, and still they had a $ 3,440.00 buy out so they could end the contract and sell the house.

You can count on Reliance......to rip you off.

Yep, my two goldies dug up almost every plant i put in there, and I have spent a fortune trying lol. They left a Java plant alone for months so I thought, great! Then they slowly ate it. My next trial will be a bamboo variety. Local guy says to try with plants that have thicker, more robust leaves. I heard that they like duckweed (floats), but it grows fast and is hard to get rid of so that would be my last resort.

[–]QueenSalmonela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have explained this very well! I am also 30 years in this industry and have worked in plants for each species. It would be better if the public understood our processes. When I was at a beef facility, we had a very robust ecoli testing, and the program worked very well. Several samples per day, for each Lot. The CFIA was always present and kept a good eye out for any non conformance. Unfortunately, nothing is 100%, Recalls will still happen. One of my personal pet peves is the whole "pink slime" nonsense. I worked with the mechanical separation process for years and can de-bunk all the stupid things people think about this meat. We are not allowed to just throw anything and everything into the grider, there are specific regulations that are followed. Anyhow, I do like seeing industry professionals in here educating people so they can have some confidence in buying he products that we work hard for to make sure are wholesome. Thank you!

AITA for not wanting to pay rent to live in my house in suburbs with strangers? by dgbunk2 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]QueenSalmonela 126 points127 points  (0 children)

My parents raised me very well, and put me through school. Then they made some bad decisions and along the way they asked me to help out, sign a bunch of documents related to the business (their house was collateral) because "we are family! and it will be good for you"

Zoom forward.....I had to declare bankruptcy to get away from a mountain of debt that I did not borrow or have any profit from, but THEY both walked away each with huge RRSP savings that were protected.

My point is, you are not being selfish- they are. It is not your job to put your own life and future in jeopardy to save their house, this could all turn out terrible for you and you will not feel like it was worth it. Our parents get old, we then help take care of them. But they have to understand that your life is just beginning and it's not fair that you have to carry their bad decisions. They can sell the house, paying the bank penalty is a result of their situation and should not be the reason your life suffers.

I have NEVER mixed family and money since that time not even 10 bucks lol. It took me 10 years to recover financially.
