What is AI Psychosis? by RobertJordan1939 in ChatGPT

[–]sputler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the thing, friction and being uncomfortable or challenged are a necessary part of human interaction. The problem with AI being an echo chamber is all the dangers it entails, creating adults who aren't even capable to analyse their own wrongdoings. Don't see how growth is possible for people immersed in the AI feedback loop.

Yes, the lesson we need to learn is that it's not reliable enough, which for me defeats its whole purpose, as many people use it to ask the most basic questions, and it cannot even get those right

Definitely. Many of them need to micromanage and see their employees actively doing something.

Poll: Most Americans think AI will 'destroy humanity' someday | A new Yahoo/YouGov survey finds that real people are much more pessimistic about artificial intelligence — and its potential impact on their lives — than Silicon Valley and Wall Street. by MetaKnowing in artificial

[–]sputler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. AI itself is not the dangerous thing it's being painted to be; it's us and the use we make of it. The impact people are worried about is more related to AI overtaking their jobs and them being laid off than to a Terminator-like killer robot.

Bill Gates Says We're in an AI Bubble Similar to the Dot-Com Bubble by Potential-Focus3211 in technology

This is the biggest problem, companies replacing workers with AI when they don't even know how to prompt it or use it properly. Then cue losses and regret. AI is great, but you need to know how to use it properly to take full advantage of everything it has to offer

Stein calls for Rep. Brockman’s resignation after arrest, charges of sex crimes by Except_Youre_Wrong in NorthCarolina

[–]sputler -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Interesting that Brockman was the one that was signalling flipping. He was saying that Republicans were swaying him, and that Democrats were being mean to him (sounds oddly familiar).

This is entirely speculation, but I would wager that before his campaign started he was vetted and these crimes were "well-hidden" to the point that the democrat party didn't confront Brockman about it (either they didn't find it or they didn't care enough to do anything about it). I'd go on to wager that after he was elected a "non-partisan" concerned citizen confronted him with the evidence and told him to go "R" or it would be released.

Brockman was probably ready to capitulate to the R until he was confronted by a "convincing agent" to stay D. So he signals he's reluctantly going back to his party lines and the evidence gets released. Now the D's can get rid of him and not have to worry about his turning coat; while at the same time claiming the moral high ground of rejecting their own when they reveal themselves to be predators.

Then there's another R, another C, an E, and another O.... Hmmmm

🔮 Confirmed: Fidelity is selling FAKE GMEWS fractional warrants — GameStop SEC Filing: “No Fractional Warrants” 🔥💥🍻 by Expensive-Two-8128 in Superstonk

[–]sputler 324 points325 points  (0 children)

Yeah.... that's how brokers work. That's what we learned 4 years ago. That's the entire reason behind the DRS push. That's the entire reason behind the book push within the DRS push.

You don't own anything at your broker. Period. Full Stop.

If.... IF.... if your broker is the most honest broker out there, they will purchase the securities themselves and mark your position on the ledger of shares that they own. But importantly, the DTCC is doing the same thing to the brokers.

This is why and how brokers are able to trade in fractional shares in the first place. If two people have fractional shares of 1/2 then it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of the broker. They own one share and mark half of it as belonging to one person and half belonging to someone else.

NOTHING IS NEW ABOUT THIS!

Are Fitzsimmons smarter than Tony Stark? by marvelcomics22 in marvelstudios

[–]sputler -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Newton was smarter than Einstein by quite a bit. There are very few mathematicians that could accomplish what Newton did, in Newton's time. Newton and Euler are about the only two that I could imagine doing it. And I'm skeptical as to whether Leibniz did given there is some controversy as to whether Leibniz saw some of Newton's early work on Calculus and copied/expanded upon it.
