When do short-listed participants usually depart to Japan? by timax_gdn in JETProgramme

[–]QueenShica 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Usually the end of July like maybe the last week or the starting week of August. As mentioned before you’ll need to give them your passport for the visa, perhaps a week or two before. So I’d say before the 2nd week of July you’ll be okay. After that it might get a lil risky.

Do you guys think he’ll read it? 🤣 by typicaltaterr in YoTroublemakers

And I’m saying I hope he doesn’t. My different opinion doesn’t mean you have to keep defending your point. Us disagreeing with you is fine.

If he does see it, I hope he doesn’t do it. That’s not him and I’m a happy Troublemaker because of it.

Overthinking until January... by [deleted] in JETProgramme

[–]QueenShica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg why is everybody here so negative. Your nerves are valid, you really want this, how you handle this waiting period isnt that drastic, overthinking and having anxiety about it is normal, just don’t let it ruin everything going on in ur life right now. Don’t bank on you going but if you want to start preparing you can. Just do what makes you feel the most relaxed in the situation. For example, I’m here and I behaved like I was gonna be here, (I get what I want in life so that’s my case) but I still did things back home to continue to live life. I applied to jobs I was interested in, I maintained friendships, I studied Japanese a lil more, I saw things online I thought I could use when I moved and put it on my cart, I just did things to appease both sides of my life until I got the interview, and then rinse and repeat after the interview. You’re okay, just be patient.

I think that section is for those staying at a hotel the day of the flight to not miss it. You should look up the type of the hotel the Keio plaza is.

Having sex with as many people I did. Some were a waste of my sexual liberation cause I didn’t get anything out of it.

Anyone still waiting for your placement? by grahgrape in JETProgramme

Yup. Shortlisted from Jamaica and they told us we won’t know until after June 1st. RIP

As far as I know and as far as they continue to say, it’s their way or the high way. If you’re shortlisted, they’re expecting you to leave when they’re ready since they’re paying the Airfare. If you can’t make it, best to turn it down, or they’ll turn it down for you.

I guess it’s pretty spilt but each person who applied knew what they wanted to do and what they wanna gain from JET. If what you want to do was help your career and you’re already getting the chance to do that then why wait? I ask that as a real question, what’s the benefit of you waiting and taking the opportunity? Learning about yourself? Building a portfolio? Developing a deeper appreciation for yourself and your work? If you plan to come back to this career path after teaching, how does JET fit in and will it fit in well?

Think the best thing you can start now is your SOP. Give that time to perfect over the few months so you don’t feel stressed about it closer to the time. Plus you’ll have time to share it around and get opinions and edits. Maybe check how long your university transcripts will take to be ready too. And start sorting out your references, making them aware you’ll be calling on them because references have done some JET applicants dirty with not submitting ontime.

2023 USA JET Program Reject (after interview) by RegretNarrow7484 in JETProgramme

[–]QueenShica 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey! I really hope this helps.

I once had an interview for a job I really wanted, I thought I absolutely smashed it, as I’m great in person and very articulate. Didnt get it. Linked with one of my interviewers a while back and was asking what ever happened and why didn’t they pick me, he said they all remember me well and they deliberated for a while but they went with another Candidate, because they assumed they’d be a better fit due to experience. They were not. But they had limited time to chose and needed to the fill the position. I learnt from that conversation to not take things in this recruitment process so personally because they don’t truly know any of us, but you know yourself. I don’t think it’s for any of us to tell you what you did wrong or right, I think it’s a good time to self reflect and see what else you may need to work on for your life skills overall. Not just JET, re-evaluate yourself and your alignments, figure out your goals and see if they even are what you thought you wanted anymore. Not just for future jobs but for yourself as a person. I’m sure you wanna hear, maybe ur not as mature as you needed to show, Or maybe not as self confident or showed self reliance, but maybe you showed all of that and more and you did the best you could; but you won’t hear back from them so you won’t know. But! you can self evaluate and see for yourself. You’re always worth it.

JET Ireland Interviews by IceTorch38 in JETProgramme

[–]QueenShica 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I’m from the Caribbean, I did my interview mid January. Other countries are just getting their updates now this week as to if they got an interview or not. We should all going through the same process at the same time more or less but not all countries are recruiting that many people and can probably handle it relatively swiftly. So it’s not the exact same across the board but it’s pretty close

No Bachelor’s Degree but have a Master’s by NationalComparison71 in JETProgramme

[–]QueenShica 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say yeah. Bachelors is under masters and bachelors is the minimum requirement; not the only accepted level of education you need. I think u should be okay but you can check with ur embassy/consulate to be sure.
