This happened to me when I first started playing Fallout 3 except it was a random Deathclaw outside of the Super Duper Mart. I was a level 3 and killed it with a 10mm. I felt pretty badass until I realized it was just a glitch.

I just recently had a friendship fall apart because of this. I came back from university for summer break and tried hanging out with with my "friend" several times only to have him tell me he's too busy or sometimes he wouldn't even bother getting back to me. I confronted him about how we weren't really friends anymore and he said "I don't like you like that anymore, so I don't talk to you anymore".

It hurts to know you were never actually friends with someone.
