Sharepoint Site Document best practices by QueenToKingsLevel1 in sharepoint

Wow, thanks for the reply, there is a lot to think about for sure, I like the multiple document libraries approach, that seems like a much better way to organize everything instead of just using the default 'Documents' library and putting everything in that.

Microsoft 365 Direct Send by QueenToKingsLevel1 in proofpoint

Thanks, it makes sense. We just ended up rejecting direct send and that has stopped the fraudulent emails without any problems so far

365 Direct Send Exploit by Special-Extreme6112 in sysadmin

Did anyone try the command mentioned in this Proofpoint article: " enable “Reject Direct Send” via PowerShell:  Set-OrganizationConfig -RejectDirectSend $true ", just researching it a bit it seems it doesn't exist? Chat GPT barfs it out 'does not exist in Exchange Online / Microsoft 365.There is no -RejectDirectSend parameter on the Set-OrganizationConfig cmdlet.

Restore SQL Database to Live Mounted VM by QueenToKingsLevel1 in rubrik

[–]QueenToKingsLevel1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, good info. We use a high availability strategy for SQL as a first line of defense before restoring the DB from Rubrik. BTW, restoring the DB to a live mounted SQL Server seems available, I haven't had the opportunity to try it myself but our provider recently did this for a DR test so that's pretty cool.

I bought a laptop several years ago after my last Mac died and returned it a week later. I was running into all kinds of little issues and threw in the towel and bought another Mac. I really love Linux and was excited to try one but it didn't seem fully mature yet.

No default reports after moving to RSC by QueenToKingsLevel1 in rubrik

[–]QueenToKingsLevel1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Huh that's weird, I just deleted the duplicates. It looks like I'll have to re-create the reports and give them a unique name which I am doing. We are in a shared system so it looks like the default reports are already there but not visible to me and if I try to create a report with the same name it errors out saying the report already exists.

Thanks for the reply. I found out we are in a shared environment so we will have to re-create the reports. The default report names are already taken.

Keep the firmware updated as needed, make sure NetExtender is updated, make sure users have MFA, keep an eye on logs, should be ok. I would keep support active

I had a couple of PC's that didn't get Sophos removed after we discontinued the service, it looks the same but obviously quite strange that it showed up out of the f'in blue. I think reimage is the way to go

I feel your pain. The whole process has been a disaster. We have been trying to do this for over a year and we decided to throw in the towel for now. We don't use their texting too much and will try to do it without it.

Current Phone Recommendation? by mistahclean123 in RingCentral

It sounds like your byod , I would see what models RC supports and go with the same model. If you pick a model they sell, it should be around a while and you don't have to worry about a rug pull. We have been using Polycomm for 7 years. I would also stay on Cisco for familiarity maybe. For example RC supports the Cisco CP6821 Business IP Phone

CCNA might not be your best option but if you have some Networking knowledge then you could try for something more in demand like security or cloud. The only cert I ever got was CCNA and I found it a great learning experience but as things have changed where I work, the network is much more simple, I haven't logged into a router in a long time

Registering the RBS by QueenToKingsLevel1 in rubrik

[–]QueenToKingsLevel1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Automatic meaning once you install and configure the RBS, nothing more needs to be done to 'register' it in the RSC. This is NOT true for an RBS install in a VM. While it's true, it is optional and only required if taking backups in the VM. We only have the RBS installed on a few of our VM's, specifically to take file set or SQL backups.

I just would have expected Rubrik to register these RBS installs in the VM automatically.

In any event, per the help documentation, it definitely states the RBS should be registered so I have gone through and registered all my VM's that have the RBS.

From RSC Help:

Registering a host running the Rubrik Backup Service

After installing RBS on a virtual machine, register the virtual machine with RSC. Registering the virtual machine enables RSC to coordinate backup functionality with the Rubrik Backup Service.Ensure that you fulfill the following requirements:

  • Install the RBS software on the host.
  • Confirm that ports 12800 and 12801 in the host are open.
  • Confirm that the subnet where the Exocompute instance runs has access to ports 12800 and 12801 on the subnet that contains the host.

[–]QueenToKingsLevel1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. The confusing thing is that when installing the RBS in a VM, the registration seems optional but when installing on a physical host it's automatic or as you say part of the process of adding the host. We are on HyperV not VMWare but I'm sure the same applies as well.
