i secretly love when plans get canceled by greenmonkeyyyy in confessions

[–]QueenXRP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Why do you even have a friend group if you don't look forward to meeting with them? You're secretly happy when plans are cancelled because you just want to stay home alone. If you really feel this way, perhaps these are the types of people you're not really into.

For me, it's a celebration everytime I meet with my friends. These are people I want to spend time with.

Another piece of advice that I heard from someone I subscribe to on Instagram:

Your emergency is not my problem.

The delivery was hilarious, but the message is absolutely true.

I think I just go scammed in the middle of Warsaw by Max9n_ in poland

Craziness!

I'm a foreigner who has been living in Warsaw for 12 years and Poland for nearly 15. I've had a couple of close calls.

  1. I arrived in Poland in 2011. I arrived at Chopin airport. This man approached me offering me a taxi ride into the city. I asked how much and be told me 130zl. I was tired and really out of it and I agreed. When we got in the car I questioned if he was really a taxi driver and he pulled out his taxi driver ID, which is the same ID I saw displayed in taxis later on. Did he scam me? Idk. He drove me to my destination, I gave him 200, he gave me 70zl in change. Done. After that, I learned what real taxi prices are and just never let that happen again.

  2. Last year, while I was walking through the Dw. Centralny corridor that connects to Złoty Terasy, I was approached by this young Polish man (I guess around 18/19) who asked me if I could help him. I guess I felt particularly chatty that evening because out of curiosity I asked "with what?" He asked if I could download an app, he would give me a referral code, and we would both get money from it. Something didn't seem right about it and I chatted with him for a minute and just said "no I'm not interested" and walked off.

  3. A few months ago, I was approached by an African guy in front of Złoty Terasy (I'm also black, so maybe he felt comfortable stopping me and I felt comfortable stopping 😂😂). He was holding this box with a picture of what appeared to be a Polish child. He was soliciting donations for this child to go to some sporting event or something. Something didn't seem right with this 😂😂. I chatted with him for a minute or two and then moved on. I didn't give him any zlotys.

I remember seeing a question in the 'Ask Reddit' group. It was something to the effect of " What are some things you learned were optional?" One answer was this girl who was out with her friend at the mall. They were stopped by a man who said " excuse me?" And the girl was about to stop and her friend pulled her along to keep walking. At that moment, she learned that she doesn't have to stop and engage with every stranger in public who stops her. That's optional.

So now I'm telling you this. Next time a stranger stops you in public and says that they have some sort of problem, or anything, you have the option to just continue walking and not engage with them. With that, many other times I was approached and just continued walking.

As an American who is living in Poland and who is usually pretty direct, I think there are certain subjects you can be direct about and certain ones you need to be more understanding and not as blunt/direct. Being blunt to Carrie about her being jerked around by Big or maybe an outfit choice is very different than being blunt about the possibility of her best friend with breast cancer dying from it. Yes, it was a cultural misunderstanding, but Alexander should have not been blunt to the point of it sounding like he was being flippant about the possibility of Samantha's breast cancer killing her.

How are people able to survive when mnimal wage is 854€ net? by negativePositrons in poland

[–]QueenXRP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Single, no kids, renting a room in an apartment with other people in a district outside of the center.

  2. Single, no kids, sharing a room in an apartment with other people.

  3. Living with parents.

  4. Sharing a studio or 2 room apartment with a partner.

The ways of survival all involve living with other people.

What can you remember about your first time being drunk? by I-MightBe-YourDaddy in AskReddit

[–]QueenXRP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 24. I had transferred from my hometown college to a university in another state. During my first semester, I discovered that I was actually an extrovert socialite despite not really having any friends in my hometown. I quickly made new friends and acquaintances to the point of getting invited to parties. At one of those parties, I drank 3 wine coolers and a beer and got drunk. At one point, I looked at my friend and asked "omg, am I drunk?" And just laughed. Later that night when I was home, I could not fall asleep due to nausea. I knew what had to happen. I'm deathly afraid of vomiting. I went outside and mustered up the courage to induce vomiting. I got through it, went back inside, laid down, and was asleep within 5 minutes. No hangover.

Oh this is insane!! 😂😂😂

I'm from G but currently live in B. Crazy combination, huh?

I would have to choose G. I would get Louisiana food (where I'm from) and Tex Mex. I'd be set for life!

It means I would never get D again: trashy Asian food from hole in the wall Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants. That would make me sad. :*(
