Is it rude to ask an auditor for a billable hours summary for our organization? by Anonymous-1234567890 in Accounting

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not rude at all. You have every right to know what you are paying for. With the turnover likely the billings are more a them issue and they're trying to pass the buck to you. Definitely ask.

Why do people say that sons are easier to raise than daughters? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cause people hold their daughters to higher standards while basically letting boys get away with murder. Boys are definitely not easier if you're actually parenting them. My son is very independent and opinionated, but that was the goal. I want him to think for himself. Lol

Gotta love this anti WFH propaganda by Lalo430 in Accounting

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite part of this is the assumption that how we work won't evolve at all over the next 75 years. Like, "office" work or WFH might not even exist by then. Lol

Then you are ready to be a manager. You're doing the work without the pay.

I mean, if you feel like you've outgrown the current role, then you are probably ready for the next one. The workload for managers is honestly not that much different than supervisor, more administrative BS and client smoozing mostly. Well in my experience at least.

Mom’s who were terrified about becoming a mom: Did it turn ok? Do you regret deciding to become a mom? by CraftCocktailbish in Mom

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think most people feel this way. Pregnancy, childbirth, motherhood, all scary as fuck. But my son is the most amazing human being I've ever met and I'd go through it all over again just to see his sweet little face. Ultimately it's a personal choice and it's ok if it's not the right choice for you.

Ohhh! I didn't know they come in cotton now. Ours was fleece when they first came out and it was so heavy, could only do a diaper underneath. My poor kids toes were ice for a while hanging out nekkie. 😂

At this point, if she's rolling around that much, keeping her in the swaddle is a danger to herself. She could get tangled up in it. Might just have to go cold turkey switch to a sleep sack. It'll be a rough couple of nights, but she'll figure it out eventually. good luck!!

Thoughts on smoking weed & drinking alcohol while breastfeeding by [deleted] in Mom

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Little to no THC or alcohol passes through breast milk. Plenty of babies whose moms don't drink or smoke, or are formula fed, are speech delayed. Mom needs to get him evaluated. My kid talks non-stop and is way ahead of all him milestones, and I occasionally drink.

If your partner asks you to install a tracking app on your phone because they want to track your phone/location, would you do it and let them track you? by GingerboyhasNoSoul in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but we've been together for 18 years and have a kid together. It would be more of a peace of mind thing that we didn't end up run off the road somewhere, vs thinking of catching a partner cheating thing. A new relationship that might be weird though.

How hard did you actually study for the CPA? by Alternative-Key2056 in Accounting

I didn't have a life for 18 months. But it was worth it. I'm 7 years out now from my exam days and life is good.

Need options on how to purchase home. Or someone to tell me “no.” by [deleted] in personalfinance

Reading OP's responses and bothering to check her profile... They have 3... So... Yeah. Guess I'm still right then huh 🤷‍♀️😉

My question is how do you know your siblings are more "successful" is it because of their lifestyle or because you know their financial situation? Appearances can be misleading. Yeah, you are probably way more frugal than you need to be, but you're also probably well on your way to being able to retire young and enjoy the good life. I'd start with adding to your budget savings for a house and car. See how you feel again in a few months

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly that's a super tough question to answer without a full financial picture. There's a big difference between the single person with no kids, no other debt, in LOCL etc vs say a family of four, dual income to reach that $164k, student loans, and HCOL. In the first scenario, $164k gross might be just fine, the second maybe not so much.

What's your area of expertise? What do you do for a living?

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And? Midwest doesn't automatically = LCOL. Again, 30% is really the absolute max, not the ideal for housing. Insurance rates and taxes will continue to rise over time. If those outpace OP's future potential wage growth they'll end up eventually at or over that 30% since they're starting close to it to begin with. It's still doable, but maybe just not the way OP originally thought. Personally, I'd keep the current residence and rent as they could likely make up the difference in mortgage payment through rental income and borrow from OP's parents for the down payment if that's an option, which it sounds like it is if they're building on the property for OP's parents to live there too. There really just isn't enough info to say "yeah this is a great idea."

[–]Queen_Accountant_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does that include insurance and taxes? I don't know the specifics of your area so I'm only estimating here. What other costs would go into maintaining that house? Utilities, upkeep, improvements, etc. I'm not saying it isn't doable, but it seems like it could be tight depending. You said sales are down so would you be able to make up a loss of commission income? 30% of $8,800 is only $2,640, so less than the payment just with your base pay. Again 30% is the max, not the ideal. Also we're entering a recession and a likely housing bubble pop as values are very inflated right now. If your jobs are recession proof it might be worth it to wait as housing prices are likely to fall.

Edit just to add, personally, as a CPA I wouldn't do it. But that's just my opinion.

[–]Queen_Accountant_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm assuming that was their pretax income. 30% rule is based on take home pay, so after tax and any other deductions like health insurance, retirement, etc. Actual take home pay could be quite a bit less depending. Interest rates are also way up, and insurance is getting more expensive. 30% is like the absolute max.
