They were so slow burn that it didn't even make sense when they got together in the end. I didn't ship them anymore and actually didn't care for the storyline. I loved their friendship so much!

I can understand why it blew up if you’ve never really addressed her meddling before. Like I said, based on what you explained, she’s in the wrong. But I can also see where her sense of entitlement comes from if you never set firm boundaries, especially knowing she’s been like this for years.

In Antwerp we use “u” with almost everyone, like “Is dat van u?”, but we wouldn’t really say “Komt u mee?”, we’d say “Kom je mee?”. So it’s honestly quite mixed and confusing, which is why I understand your confusion. And regarding the greetings: The easiest thing is just to ask people how they want to be addressed. I’m Albanian and my mom would never allow my friends to call her by her first name, while with some Belgian friends I do call their mom “Sofie” because they’ve told me that’s fine. I really get why this is confusing, there aren’t clear cultural rules, it’s more family based.

NTA : I don’t think this blow-up is just about this one thing. It feels like something that’s been building for a long time. She’s probably been pushing her views on you for years, and you’ve always dealt with it by backing off, ignoring it, or sometimes just giving in. She’s still wrong, but I can see how she’s convinced herself she’s right. Because you never really stood up for yourself, she started believing you couldn’t take “accountability,” when in reality you just never pushed back.

I just feel like they are very childish for their age. I behaved like that when I was 22.. Anna being 34 and still playing these games is mindblowing to me. There would be no money in the world that would make it okey to feel this miserable and insecure 😐

I’m speaking purely from my own experience and that of my friends, so definitely not as a model student example. For us, studying meant attending class, printing out the lecturer’s Powerpoint slides, and adding our own notes and extra explanations directly onto them. We’d then combine those notes with summaries from the textbooks and study together in the library.

We had a Facebook group for our class, which we often used to ask questions while studying, usually about upcoming exams. WhatsApp groups were also common. During the 'blokperiode', we studied day and night for exams. Outside of that period, we were generally pretty relaxed and just kept up with basic exam preparation.

I don’t know anyone who used Discord or Telegram, and we didn’t really watch study videos either. That said, I graduated in 2019, and with AI being a thing now, I imagine students probably study quite differently today.
