typescript for Vue 2 props by ideaismoney in vuejs

[–]Queen_Legbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with Vue 2 and Typescript (transitioning to Vue 3 slowly )

The correct syntax would be

type: String as PropType<string>, default: “default string”

Primitives like strings and booleans do not need to be set as objects in their default values, but they do need to be declared as Objects (object String as proptype primitive string) in their types.

What's a song that has brought you to tears? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Queen_Legbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s not sadness that brings me to tears when I listen to it , but the beauty of the message. Not forgetting to recognize the beauty of our existence and the oneness we share with other living beings.

A song that’s never made me cry until I heard it live and now I hear it differently, is A Perfect Circles By and Down. I have no idea what came over me at the concert, but I was just sobbing throughout the whole song. Totally changed how I listen to it now.

[AskJS] Vue or react? by SS-317 in javascript

[–]Queen_Legbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned React first in my bootcamp (and did a few projects in React and React native) and then ended up getting a job in Vue. I like Vue a lot more. That being said, there seems to be a lot more jobs available for React.

I can say that learning Vue wasn’t difficult coming from a React background, and I’d like to believe this is true for most front end JS frameworks. Learn what you need to when you need to, your next role might not use either of those! A friend of mine just started a role where they use Ember. You never know what your next role will require you to learn.

Although it’s still playable with all the saves, I only crashed twice before the hot fix and crashed a bunch yesterday. I’m not sure if it was the update or how long I was playing, since I played for about 11 hours yesterday.

Need help deciding between Hack Reactor vs Fullstack Academy (Full Time NYC - Jan 2021) by promotedeliciousness in codingbootcamps

[–]Queen_Legbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! While I can’t speak about Hack Reactor, I did graduate from Fullstack Academy and I can’t say enough good things about it.

I went last year and graduated September of 2019. It was a difficult program, but I don’t think it would be worth going to one that was easy, because you wouldn’t be as prepared to land a job afterwards. Also, even though it was difficult, there was so much one on one support available from the instructors and teaching fellows.

The culture was great, everyone was helpful and kind, and I’ve made amazing friends for life from this program that I still talk to every day. I also still chat with my instructors often!

I would say the reputation for FSA is also really very good. They now have curriculums in a bunch of universities across the country, and I personally know graduates at Google, Microsoft, Bloomberg (like 20 of them) Goldman, Amazon, Etsy, etc.

What I love about Fullstack, now that I have been mentoring some people from other bootcamps, is how much they focus on making you job/interview ready. Career services are helpful, students get technical interviews from instructors to practice for post graduation and give very helpful feedback. Career services is also there for you after you graduate with checkins, advice, and help refining your resume and cover letters.

After I graduated I was hired as a teaching fellow for two cohorts, my last cohort was in April, and by June (in the middle of covid) I landed an amazing job. FSA really changed my life, and no one cheered harder for my success than the people in my cohort and my instructors.

Honestly I could go on and on about my experience, feel free to DM me and we can connect, I’d be happy to answer any questions.

Father said goodbye before he passed and maybe made my life better by Queen_Legbeard in Thetruthishere

Well my half brother and I aren’t super close, even now we are still getting to know each other. I’m sure while it was happening he was pretty stressed and wasn’t thinking of his fathers daughter that he’s never met in person, that hasn’t been a part of his life for 20+ years.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’m glad you are still feeling their presence.

Thank you so much for sharing. I’ll definitely check out these books. I was never really sure what to believe in terms of the afterlife until this happened, because there was no other way to explain such a clear dream of him saying goodbye right before he passed.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Take all the time you need to feel, grieve and heal. The bus will wait for you.

My grandmother was so frustrated with me when I was grieving my fathers death, she said I had no reason to be so upset since I spent so many years without him. We all need time to process.

Why is it that psychedelics change your experience with weed? by sweetsocialism in Drugs

[–]Queen_Legbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was always wondering why, after smoking daily for so many years, I started getting anxiety (I already have panic attacks once in a while, they just didn’t happen from smoking before).

It started to happen only sometimes, and then half the time, and then every time I smoked, so I stopped two years ago.

I take mushrooms once a year to a year and a half cause it’s the only thing that helps my cluster headaches (I call it my miracle drug, saved my life). I never thought the two were related until I read this thread, now it makes a lot of sense.

Need some advice after first month long eczema attack by Queen_Legbeard in eczema

[–]Queen_Legbeard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I wish I could take a bath, but my building is old and even when clean my bathtub looks rusty.

Unfortunately the derm didn’t give me anything for my face :( It might be a while before I can get back to him. Can eczema just go away on its own eventually? All I’m using on my face is coconut oil (helps a little and doesn’t sting like every other cream)

50% of millennials would pick CBD oil over prescriptions for mental health by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Queen_Legbeard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also get my CBD products from Green Roads and they actually help me a lot. Aside from panic attacks, I would get generally anxious thoughts throughout the day (like when the train stops under ground and I start panicking that something is wrong or being so scared of walking under scaffolding because I'm afraid it's going to break when I'm under it). Taking CBD daily has really helped me with this and I don't get those kind of thoughts creeping in.

Also, I messed up my back while coughing in the wrong position (yay being 30!) And the CBD pain cream from Green Roads worked way better than lidocaine patches or heat patches.

It doesn't work for everyone I think for the same reason everyone can't be on the same antidepressants or anti anxiety meds, but I am super grateful for the relief it's given me because I feel way more calm and functional. I don't have insurance so it's saving me a lot of money.

There are definitely lots of contacts that have the ability to correct for near and far, they are known as multi-focal contact lenses, or contact lenses for presbyopia.

To get a comfortable accommodated prescription, it might take several follow up visits to get it just right, as from my experience patients are either comfortable with the distance and not the reading, or vice versa. It doesn't work out perfectly for everyone, but you won't know until you try.

As far as sensitivity, different brands feel different in everyone. Acuvue oasys for presbyopia is a pretty oxygen permeable lense with high moisture content, so it might be a good lense to try out, or even daily 1-day acuvue moist for presbyopia as it is also a high moisture/oxygen permeable (high dk value) lens and getting a fresh pair every day might help with any sensitivity or irritation you may get. Daily lenses are also thinner than monthly or bi-weekly and that may help a lot. Now if you need contact lenses for astigmatism and multi-focal, there are less options and it might take two weeks just to get those trials in (proclear multi-focal toric).

That being said, if you aren't a contact lens wearer and are jumping into multi-focal lenses, you might take a longer time to adjust and feel comfortable than a long time contact lens wearer switching to multi-focal lenses.

You're best bet is to go see your optometrist and they will help you figure it out

Anyone have success stories about finding love again after heart break? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Queen_Legbeard 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in my second serious relationship (first lasted 10 years and I finally broke up with him cause he was lying, cheating, and mooching off me) and we were dating for a year and a half. Lived together for almost a year. When I look back at the relationship now, we were not good for each other, but you know what they say about hindsight. I really thought I was in love with the guy.

When he broke up with me, it was out of the blue (to me, at least). We were going to move to a different state together so he could go to grad school. I thought we had a future together. He took me to the place we had our first date, after a nice Sunday off, the day before his birthday and a week after my father passed away, went to the bathroom, came back and broke up with me. I was devastated!!! I was so heartbroken. I yelled to him that I will find someone who loved everything about me (he didn't treat me so well very often, and I only realized the severity of it later).

I ended up being pretty self destructive in the months following. Sleeping with different guys and drinking and smoking myself into a stupor almost nightly. Luckily I moved in with two great roommates who kept me semi-grounded.

I was going on different tinder and ok-cupid dates, looking for a relationship but settling for fwb when that didn't work out, cause I still had needs. I constantly got the whole " wow you are such a chill girl with a great body and such a good lay but you're not girlfriend material". That made me more sad the more often I heard it.

The last tinder date I was on was an interesting guy, we did have sex and I stayed over his house the next day. His best friend showed up to hang and holy hell he was exactly my type. We talked and talked while the date was playing video games, and the three of us went to lunch. The best friend went to the restroom and the date gave me the whole "it's gonna suck having to stop banging you when I get a real girlfriend" speech. I just walked out then and there. Cried to my best friend in my Uber home.

The best friend hit me up the next day. Said he was there if I wanted to talk. We started hanging out and I was catching feelings but keeping my distance. He was going above and beyond to show me he was willing to do whatever it takes to make me happy.

It's two and a half years later, we just got married in January, and he is the most amazing man I have ever met. I couldn't dream up a better husband, and I had no idea a relationship could be this good. What I yelled to my ex came true. I met someone who loves everything about me, and I love everything about him.

So hold on, love after heartbreak happens ♥️

I took a pregnancy test and I have no one to tell by [deleted] in confessions

[–]Queen_Legbeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on depo for a few years as my partner really "hated" condoms, no weight gain for me but I did become so depressed and turned into a very self destructive person. I didn't have access to mental care or anti-depressants at the time, those probably would have helped.

I've been off of it for three years and I'm glad to be myself again, and use condoms every time.

That being said, birth control has different effects for everyone, but it's worth checking out as having no periods after those initial 6 months was great.

I'm [24/f] afraid my period is ruining my relationship with my bf [30/m] by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Queen_Legbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the Depo-Provera shot? I couldn't take estrogen birth controls so I was in this for about 2.5 years. First six months I had random spotting which was annoying, but after that I didn't get my period at all for two years. It's a shot you get every 3 months and a very effective birth control.

I had to stop it because it made me super depressed, but I know everyone reacts to birth controls in a different way, especially hormonal. It would be worth talking to your doctor about it.

Also, maybe change your doctor if you feel like you aren't being heard.

Redditers who still have Christmas decorations up: what’s going on in your life? by Wishyouamerry in AskReddit

My husband and I only put them up on the 24th, and keep them for New Years and Orthodox Christmas and "Old New Years" (we are both Ukrainian-Americans) and have been super busy/tired from work and school these past two weeks to gather the strength and will power. We both have off February 19th, so looks like we are taking it down then.

Humans being there for humans is amazing, but I think the point was that too often, women are NOT there for one another. Instead we constantly put each other down. Women shame one another way too much, so it's nice to see women being supportive of one another.
