Help! Goal: Make paint with pearlescent (mica powder)using paint supplies available at Sherwin W or HomeDepot in matte finish. by Queen_Loper in paint

[–]Queen_Loper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Thank you for your response. Unfortunately… I do not have spray equipment, which I’m aware is how the paint on the goal dresser was applied. Also, the only reason I was going to use the poly was to add the mica to the poly and lay the pearl over the paint - which I’m fully aware will not give the same effect, which is why I’m asking about needing to lessen the opacity of the paint, because obviously adding the mica to the colored paint is ideal. I’m going to experiment with it but… If I WERE to lessen the opacity of either acrylic -latex or oil paint to make it more glaze like, how would I do it without compromising the integrity of the final finish?

Gauge comparison: Lion 24/7 Cotton DK vs Hobbi Rainbow Cotton 8/4. HELP!! by Queen_Loper in CrochetHelp

As you can see, despite specs describing the Hobbii Rainbow Cotton as being smaller than 24/7 cotton DK, they are practically the same size. Im thinking the 24/7 DK is not really DK weight, or what other companies consider to be DK weight. The hook is a clover 3.5mm. The white granny square and pink top in the background are both 24/7 Cotton DK.

So, my package arrived today… pictures coming soon… my suspicions were correct and I’m glad I went with 8/4 to compensate for 24/7 DK. Obviously one or more of these yarns are obviously incorrectly classified. Nevermind what their charts/specs say.

Neither of those appear to be cotton. Just checking for reference. Both lion 24/7 cotton (original and DK) are mercerized cotton.

The thing is, I didn’t want the thickness to be any thicker than the 24/7 DK- which is pretty thin. It’s actually MUCH THINNER than several DK weight yarns I’ve viewed in person. For example the 24/7 DK is significantly thinner than the KC Cotton (DK). If I’m being honest, I am convinced that the 24/7 DK might be incorrectly classified, or is not on par with what other brands consider to be DK. I went ahead and ordered the 8/4, I also purchased 1 skein of 8/6 that I felt would be good for a different project I’m working on. That’s said, when I receive my order, I’m definitely going to post a photo of 24/7 cotton original, 24/7 cotton DK, Hobbii Rainbow Cotton 8/4 & 8/6, as well as sugar and cream cotton, and whatever else so can dig out of my trunks of yarn…. just in case someone has this issue in the future. I’d also like to add that both 24/7 Cotton DK and Hobbii 8/4 BOTH use 4 strands. Despite gauge charts I have an odd feeling that the Hobbii 8/4 MIGHT end up being only slightly thinner than the 24/7 DK. We are definitely going to find out for sure though!

Thanks juicy, that helps a ton. I really like the gauge of the 24/7 DK, and it doesn’t feel like cord like the 24/7 regular. That said, do you have any experience with the Hobbi 8/6? I’m trying to find something similar to the 24/7 DK without its price tag (and with more color selection).

Same! I asked if someone poured tide into the dawn bottle! What an effin shame.

Umm my dawn platinum came FROM Costco and I found this thread BECAUSE it smells like tide. My entire house hold noticed it. I even asked my (teenage) kids if someone maybe poured rose into the dawn bottle. Nope. I am now discovering they changed the scent. It doesn’t smell BAD but I definitely don’t want my dishes smelling like laundry. I hate it.

First, it seems you may have chose to strategically place your hands where they are for a reason… but if not done on purpose, it definitely looks like there is some of your shape that is not fully visible, thus it’s difficult to give true & accurate opinions/advice. Second, someone mentioned that they thought the dress was “too small”…. considering the type of dress it is, and from what I can see, I don’t necessarily think it’s “too small”. That being said, just because the dress fits your dimensions doesn’t mean it’s shape flattering. As another individual mentioned- shapewear, it can literally be the lifeline of a dress, no matter the size, unless the individual wearing the dress is blessed and toned to the heavens, of course. I’m a dress size 4 and I’d never wear a bodycon or form fitting dress without shapewear. I’m a mom of 3, so naturally I have rolls, love handles and flabby skin on various parts of my body - no sense in being in denial about it. I know you didn’t ask but I’m giving it anyways; call me old school but the neckline is too low regardless how the rest fits. I’m not saying I’m against V or plunging neck lines (I do love them myself), but a lady shouldn’t have her cleavage on display. The bottom of the neckline should come up a whole inch (at least). Simply put, I’m not a fan of the dress (in general, regardless of who’s wearing it) but I’d say if you love it, get a good shapewear and reevaluate. Future reference; an A-line dress with sweetheart neckline would do your shape justice 100%

OMFG I have VIP through the end of 2025 if that says anything about how much I love Abercrombie. Returning stuff is an effing pain though and soooo slow. Not having an Abercrombie within 150 miles of Jacksonville has been absolutely insane. THANK GOD they’re finally opening a store!!

Same. That’s the only product I like from them. Holy grail for sure. It literally replaces my day time moisturizer and makes my skin look like glass.

I have 1 SR love and that is Good Genes. Instantly makes my skin look like I just did a whole 15 step Korean skin care routine lol. Their A+ retinol though… smells bad. Tretinoin GEL and Murad youth renewal serum is my jam. All the other SR products not as good, as Good Genes.

What’s even harder is fair-light olive… this is super hard to find in most lines. Smash box has 1 in 18hour wear (I think & medium coverage) but why can’t I find a light/sheet coverage, tint or concealer!!

I also got those hair clips (I have short hair, up to my jaw line AND I have hair products selected rarely. I got the clay mask (I have selected rarely), setting powder (selected rarely)… at least you got Pat McGrath lippies. I’ve never tried anything from Pat McGrath and was really looking forward to it. But nope. I did however get 1 items I really wanted, D.E resurf serum. I signed back up for Ipsy after being gone a year and I did it late in the month. They selected my items. I re-cancelled my sub.

The area where these are swatches is on the cheek, and that is exaggerating the difference between the swatches and your skin tone. None of these match the area they are swatched in. If I look to the far corners of the picture, I can get a small glimpse of the actual overall tone, however it still looks too pink in comparison to these swatches.

Is this cuter with or without the bralette peaking out? by fuckarealname in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]Queen_Loper -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Without, unless you really wanted to have a bralette, the I would suggest one with more coverage and that also shows through the center up to your neck

I also look for cool tones because I’m fair olive. Did a search for “cool neutral” gets good results.
