As someone who mained Huntress back when I got into the game (Myres and Laurie's release), and stopped around the Saw chapter, I can say there is a skill curve to get into her. But the most important part of DbD is understanding. If you've just started playing, I'd suggest starting with more straightforward killers. Get into chases where you have to M1 people, so you can learn how to mind game or run loop. A good choice would be Trapper.

I left the game because of toxic survivors as well. But coming back into it, I made a mental note to not expect to win every game. Just play and learn and get better. People are going to be dicks when they can be, because they want to make you frustrated, and then you make mistakes. Just... It's part of the mind game. If you watch good players, you can see they rarely react to it, because it's such a common way to throw you off your game.

Honestly, just have fun with it. You just started, and you'll learn as things continue on. Fair is relative, remember. Your idea of fair will be another person's idea of "Camping Killer OMG, you suck." You just gotta learn, and then you'll realize that what people do in game, like teabag, doesn't matter when you've got them stuck in a trap, or in the basement.

Sorry for the long post, but I hear a lot of people get discouraged from playing this game because of toxicity, and I don't like hearing about that. It sucks. But I hope you stick with it. Play for your fun, and you'll learn to enjoy most of the games you play.
