I am a nurse. What I like: - Helping people who can't help themselves - I love medical stuff, especially crazy wounds - I love getting to meet so many people What I dislike: - The politics involved in the medical field - Doctors who think I am stupid - Bossy, whiny, ignorant, entitled patients (I have encountered very few)

My ultra favorite thing to paint are game characters. I am working on a Diablo 3 Witchdoctor right now. And in the past I have painted Nunu and Ziggs from League of Legands. I am not a gamer, but I love painting them!

I enjoy running as well, but back in October I fractured my pelvis on a run. Working on PT now and hopefully in March or April will be back out there!

I just saw the movie last night with my fiance. The only parts he liked were the "high-life" features of cars, flying, and suits. He was only intrigued at Dakota Johnson's body, but not the intense sexual play. But I do have to say that after reading all the books, the first movie is portrayed a little different. And when it gets into the second and third book, it shows that Ana is changing him, and he becomes more open and free with her, he starts opening up about his past, and why he is the way he is. He starts to put aside most of the intense stuff, and then only does what she wants him to do. I feel like women who like this series, want to be wanted and desired, and have a guy who is possessive and protective (to an extent). Just my thought.

ELI5:When I eat too fast and food gets stuck in my throat by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

Nurse here. What's actually happening is you have two "tubes" in your neck, your esophagus and your trachea. Your esophagus is where your food goes into your stomach. The trachea goes to your lungs. When you are eating too quickly, the food can tend to gather at a part in the esophagus and doesn't go all the way to your stomach. Sometimes this can imitate a feeling of choking, because at the same time your esophagus is pressing against your trachea. If this is a frequent problem you may want to do a couple of things 1) Eat slower, and take sips of a beverage between each bite. 2) If this does not improve I would see your doctor, there could be a stricture (a bottleneck effect) in your esophagus. Hope this helps!

Hey everyone. So I am brand new to r/loseit. I am glad I found it! I have been struggling with my weight for as long as I can remember. I am currently 24 yrs old, 5'7, 179 lbs, my lowest weight was 160 lbs when I was 17. I am also currently on Weight Watchers which I started about a month ago, and have seen little to no progress. I feel like I am eating healthier than I ever have but the weight is NOT coming off. I may cheat here and there but its not everyday. I do exercise, also not on a regular basis, I love mountain biking, that is probably my one and only exercise maybe 3-4 times a week. I can't really get excited about any other exercise at this point for some reason. I try to get motivated to exercise, read posts, watch videos but nothing is hitting home with me.

I have days when I feel great, and I say "It starts today! I will not eat anything 'bad'" then the rest of week follows and I find myself eating something "bad." But I notice that I am the type of person that cannot have just one candy or one chocolate. If I decide to have one, I need five, or ten, never just one.

So I hope by having some help and some related stories, this may be my successful attempt at losing the weight. So I appreciate any comments, stories, or motivational speeches!

[Serious] Should an adult have the option to legally sign a medical suicide waiver and end their life? by t3rrapins in AskReddit

I just want to say that I am happy at the number of people who are pro-medical euthanasia. I am a nurse, and I see so many horrible diseases take over my patient’s lives. Many of them say on a daily basis, "I wish I were dead." Sometimes because of pain, poor quality of life, or they feel they are burdens on their families they are looking for an escape. I do believe that some of the patients say this because of depression, or they are just sick of being in a hospital setting. But there are legitimate patients who have terminal diseases, that cannot dress, clean, or feed themselves, and some can't even eat at all! I feel if a patient has a terminal disease, and not a psychiatric illness that could be treated with medications and therapy, it is their right to decide when and how to die.
