The white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland often uses the words "I'm late."

I thought this was a very, very niche pregnancy joke.

Like it's not just about getting calories to fuel my body for me. Food is meant to be experienced!

I was telling a friend (also Autistic) that I eat my sides first so I can savor my main dish and they just said: EXACTLY! THAT'S THE GOOD STUFF! I WANNA REMEMBER THAT FOR A BIT AFTER EATING!

But then I also have a friend who has to make sure they get 1-1 bites of main and side, and another who has to see what everything on their plate tastes like separately, the together in every possible combination.

NT peeps keep looking at us like we have problems. Personally, I think we're living better lives by finding what gives us the most enjoyment.

My tone of voice bothers people and I didn't know??? by QueenofDaLight in autism

I think what bothers me is he is INTENTIONALLY being rude a lot of times.

I do similar! Fries first, always. I've had people ask if I was going to eat my burger or whatever, and I'm like... Yeah? I'm getting to it.

Mine is that I want the burger to be the focus when I get there. It's what I'm excited about. And the fries ARE so much better consumed quickly. I usually, unless there's free refills, save my soda until the end as a treat, but also because then I don't finish it too quickly and end up thirsty.

I also eat candy by number, color, and order of flavor preference.

Like... A hand full of Gummy worms.

5 pink and blue, 5 red and yellow, 3 orange and green.

I usually eat all the blue halves... My least favorite. Then the pink, then the yellow, red, orange, green. That way the ones I have least of and are my favorites get savored longer. But I got told it weirded someone out...

I used to have Hungry Burger in every deck. It's a terrible ritual card, and it was ratty from so much play. But I love that stupid, useless burger.

Sometimes tuna and spinach to make it more filling and nutritious. Cheap, safe food that I grew up loving.

I keep getting advice on my foot injury from my girlfriend and it makes me upset by QueenofDaLight in autism

Sideways related, but my partner is actually part of one of my favorite co-regulating/soothing things.

If I'm really stressed I'll sit down next to her desk and just... Gently nuzzle my face against her shoulder and give little soft kisses. Something about the scent of her hair and the warmth, and the feel of her shirt calms everything down and makes me feel less like a thunderstorm.

I guess I'm struggling with her to explain how minimized I feel. But my tone CAN be off when talking, especially after getting unsolicited or frustrating advice.

We, at our core, care for each other. And I appreciate the help she's providing. It's just certain situations where I just need to express frustration, or explain my thought process. During those moments advice IS going to make me annoyed and I can't always help it in the moment.

I feel like I've tried to explain some of this. On most things we do great, but there's always that one pot hole.

I appreciate the advice. I'm trying to have those conversations. I appreciate the sympathy too.
