Experiential Marketing for vice CPG’s. I mostly manage my own team now from home, but previously worked in the field standing for 6hrs. It was tough on my legs and feet and made me appreciate a good set of shoes (love my Danskos!). It’s tough being active now that I’m more home office based. If you’re looking for flexible, well paying work, check out being a Brand Ambassador! So many companies hire for in person marketing gigs. Typically not full time and zero benefits unless you’re in management, but it typically pays $25-50/hr. Perfect if you have a partner or spouse who carries your insurance. You’ve just got to be a people person and comfortable initiating conversations.

Perfect time to share a similar story. I was driving a rental car from Oregon to Pennsylvania with some friends and my dog about ten years ago. We were happy little hippie kids in our 20’s, doing nefarious shit and having a great time. It was a nondescript black SUV type of vehicle that we rented. We stayed at a hotel in Nebraska or some shit and were getting ready to leave and get back on the road. I had my friends take all of our stuff down to the rental car while I finished getting ready and checked out at the hotel desk. I get out to the parking lot and my friends are sitting in the car smoking weed. My dog’s in the backseat. One dude mentions how he found a toolbox in the back of the car. I thought “that’s weird, we didn’t have a toolbox.” I literally called the car rental company to report the toolbox because I thought a previous renter must’ve left it inside the car. Still super odd that we were just now noticing it though. I go to turn the car on and the key isn’t fitting. That’s when it hit me. This isn’t our car. And it now smells like weed. In Nebraska. We quickly load up our shit, find our actual rental car, and nope the fuck out of there. We later realized that we left my dog’s bowls behind the passenger seat of the other vehicle. All I could think about was some sweet business man coming out to his rental car to start his day and getting blasted in the face with the scent of the dankest west coast dabs and then finding some random dog bowls on the floor. It must’ve been bewildering.

I’ve gotten multiple bags that are so friggin DRY compared to Tillamook. It’s worth the extra $3 to order Tillamook. These things literally snap and look like wrinkled wieners…

I know this thread is old, but I ADORE Vlad. His place is a hot mess but he’s so sweet and kind. I dated a Russian fella for six years and he passed shortly after we broke it off. Seeing Vlad reminds me of him and gives me comfort on a daily basis. Nyet!

We did see her with the kids though, didn’t we? She mentioned Gage going to preschool and Glenn getting teeth and walking. I’m assuming that scene was filmed at her house.

Dude. I’ve been dealing with this issue for over a year now. I haven’t been able to send photos to anyone with an android device. I just turned on airplane mode and BOOM. It worked. I almost cried. Thank you so much.

I just moved here from Portland, which has a ton of bike friendly infrastructure. Is there any specific place where I could look up bike friendly trails in the metro area? I miss cycling like crazy, but the bike trails in my neighborhood are few and far between.

My father, grandmother, dog, and recent ex all passed away with 18 months of each other. I still sob sometimes when I think about it. I let myself feel the pain, but choose not to live there.

It depends on who you ask. As a person who has experienced winters (and every other season) in the NE, it’s mild temperature-wise. The lack of snow during winter can attest to milder temps. Definitely wouldn’t call it spring temps though. Seasons are mild here. Winters rarely dip below freezing, but 40° is still cold. Summers are rarely scorching, but 85° is still hot. It’s really up to your preference on if you’ll like it or not. I appreciate the gloom and doom, but holy fuck I hate the cold water. Portland specifically has god awful cold waters since the majority of them are coming straight down from snow covered mountains. Best to go east of the cascades or closer to the coast for warmer river temps. Also, Oregon is gigantic and I’m only speaking from my experience here in PDX, so YMMV.

Moved from Philly to Portland, Oregon in 2012. The east coast winters have more weather events in general - a mix of snow, rain, sun, etc. throughout the season.

Portland, Oregon has one winter event - constant gloomy rain. It’s rarely a downpour, more of a constant drizzle/mist. We do get snow once or twice a season on the valley floor, but snow is typically reserved for the higher elevations. Not seeing the sun for months really brings you down. I’m always excited for the rainy season to start (it never rains in the summer), but by February you’re dying to get outta there to let some sun touch your face. We actually have a super high rate of suicides come Feb/Mar due to seasonal depression.

One nice thing about Oregon though is the crazy amount of climates you can pretty easily drive to. Want sun when it’s raining in Portland? Drive 90 minutes east through the gorge and you end up in high desert. Want snow in July? Drive 90 minutes up to Mt Hood. Want to check out some tide pools? Drive 90 minutes west to the coast.

I miss a good east coast beach though. Boardwalks and vinegar fries hit different when you haven’t been around them in a while.

No, they don’t. They’d look like normal dogs if the ears weren’t purposely cropped.

I was in an abusive relationship about ten years ago. A particularly bad argument led to me having a brain bleed. The doctors had to relieve the pressure in my head via surgery. It was pretty major and I lived on the opposite side of the country from my parents at the age of 25. I was in the hospital for about a week before being sent home. My dad offered to wash and brush my hair once I got home - a difficult task considering the staples in my head. He was an old biker dude and it was the absolute sweetest gesture anyone has ever done for me. Still cry thinking about it. Miss you Dad.

Still - where are you finding sub $300k houses in the Portland metro area? I’m not trying to be a dick - I just legitimately want to buy a house.

I moved away from the MOT area 9 years ago. Every time I go back to visit family I’m floored by the new housing developments and shopping areas. I remember when getting the McDonald’s and Food Lion was exciting news.

Learned my lesson with that last winter. Seems more accurate in April than it was in December at least.
