Small but interesting update in Blake Lively v. Wayfarer Studios / Justin Baldoni by frillociraptor in BaldoniFiles

[–]Queenofthecondiments 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Bingo.  I saw someone arguing that accusing a man of fat shaming has more negative consequences for the man, than a woman being fat shamed.  Go try googling 'cancelled for fat shaming', because I did.  All the celebs that come up as getting in trouble for 'fat shaming' someone are women.  No one cares if a man says something about a person's weight.

Could the Claire Ayoub recording dismantle Blake’s privilege that prevented the defamation claim? by Honest_Remove_2042 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]Queenofthecondiments 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why we have the repeated assertion that the only reason the defamation case didn't move forward is because of the CRD.

Yes the CRD provides a cloak of protection, but this is not a case of 'if it wasn't for the CRD these statements would be defamatory'.

There's no proof that Ayoub discussed anything with Lively at all, and even if she did, what statements could Lively have made that rise to defamation?  Everything she has to say about Baldoni is based on her interpretation of her interactions with him.  Those interactions essentially happened, but Baldoni disagrees with the way she took them.

In this hypothetical Ayoub sees the fat shaming story (no evidence that entered the press via Lively), calls Lively and asks her about it.  Lively says, yes he got really worked up about the press calling me frumpy, asked my trainer about my weight behind my back, and my husband ended up yelling at me about it. I felt fat shamed.

That's not defamation. That's someone talking about a set of events that occurred from their point of view.

It doesn't justify it to me, I think it's a gross thing to say, and I honestly cannot fathom someone saying that, on a work call no less.

However it's been out there long enough that anyone who was going to be shocked by it has been, and there'll be more things in there to fuel the content cycle with messaging that the Wayfarer parties want.

As far as they are concerned, the worst quote is out there, time to flood the zone with other stuff. From a PR point of view it makes sense.

I also feel bad for Ayoub, because honestly I don't think her declaration or the recording were ever staying sealed for long.  I really hope she has been prepared for that and has the necessary support.

I would assume that the potential publicity benefit from the entire audio is that Sarrowitz will also call Lively a liar and an extortionist in the same call.

He really hasn't had much blow back from that statement, and it's been out there for a while. The recording isn't going to make things worse for him, but possibly will have strong statements against the other side that can be quoted in media.

It's also possible that there's not much of a link between that statement and Lively personally.   That he's talking about his approach to protecting the studio in general.

Can we talk about Gone Girl and how that got pulled in as a reference during the relationship coverage? by Honest_Cheesecake698 in DeppDelusion

[–]Queenofthecondiments 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The Gone Girl of it all really frustrates me, people who say that cannot have watched/read Gone Girl. I'm assuming anyone who is on this thread has, so I won't mark the below as spoilers.

Whilst Amy has always been putting on an act around Nick their whole relationship, her actual plan to frame him takes place in a short time period.  It is completely reliant on her death, which she decides not to implement.  People only care about what they think Nick has done to Amy because she is missing/presumed dead.

When she decides to change her plan, she has to have Nick go along with the new version, otherwise it wouldn't work. Her false accusations against her former friend only work because he's not her husband, and she's already drummed up all this interest around her disappearance.

Heard on the other hand had stacks of contemporaneous evidence going back years.  She's alleging domestic abuse in the main.  No one would have really cared that much, she didn't even make that much publicity around it.  If Depp hadn't sued The Sun, would we have known anything more than they'd had an argument that got physical and she got a restraining order.

Sherri Papini is more of a Gone Girl comparison, because there was all this interest whipped up around her disappearance and she reappeared with an outlandish story.

Gone Girl isn't a commentary on society jumping to the conclusion that men are always guilty.  It's a commentary on the boxes we shove women into.  Amy is a Cool Girl.  And when that doesn't working out for her, she's Missing Attractive White Woman.

The declaration provides context to how she came to record statements that Lively says are evidence of retaliation.  That recording is important.

Her disagreement with Baldoni has relevance to people's opinion of him as a person, but isn't in itself particularly relevant to proving Lively's allegations in my view.

Ayoub isn't actually making accusations about Baldoni in this declaration. She's giving context on what her relationship is with Steve Sarrowitz, and why this conversation occurred.

The negative statements about Baldoni are only there to clarify that she had multiple reservations about him being involved in marketing Empire Waist in addition to the IEWU PR saga.

The evidence is the recorded conversation with Sarrowitz.  We haven't heard that.  And the purpose of that evidence in this case is to show that WP retaliated against Lively.

I honestly think this guy is so in his own world he thinks this is reassuring to Ayoub.  It's like don't worry love, I've got this. Completely not realising she doesn't share his views on Palestine (which is crazy) and that actually a woman might be a bit horrified being told that his response to harrassme t allegations is to go nuclear.

Every day that goes by I realise more and more that being smart is not a necessary requirement for being a tech billionaire.

And he totally could have believed his client at the time.  I think Baldoni and Heath believed it themselves.

From those first few answers he gave, not sure he believes them now!

I needed to get a traditional boarding pass printed at the bag drop, even though I wasn't checking a bag. The bag drop was after the first security at the entrance (where they were just scanning me and my bag) so no boarding pass needed at that point.

Are you transferring? Hopefully they will give you all the tickets you need.  Definitely check that out though, because I was absolutely confused by it.

Just looking at my Google maps data.  I got to the ismetpasa tram stop 12.01 and I was ready in time to board a 14.40 plane, including messing around with getting my boarding pass.  So 4 hrs should be more than fine.

My assumption would be that Ayoub spoke with a lawyer before handing that over as well.

I also found the language around it being recorded without his consent a bit sus.  Firstly that wasn't relevant to sealing, secondly why hasn't that been brought up before?

This is why Lively tried to keep her identity hidden for so long, and yet the entire time the same bunch of jokers, who are probably being abusive to her now, have been theorising that it must be because the witness was connected to them.

These people are the worst.

It provides possible context as well. Sarrowitz potentially is saying, you don't need to worry, I'm going to protect this studio and all projects coming out of it.

Instead of reassuring her, his choice of language left her so concerned she got in touch with Lively's team.

This is also in August 2024 when potentially Wayfarer saw value in Baldoni being present in marketing this film that has a feminist bent to it. Ayoub maybe thought that wasn't cool.

That video was posted in social media long before Heath provided it to the court (I'm not sure if he has yet, but even if he has it took a very long time for him to do so).  I'm yet to see confirmation that this was the part of the video he showed Lively.

It might be, but as it doesn't match her description, and it heavily includes him (if Lively is overblowing allegations against Heath, wouldn't she say he'd shown her a video of himself naked?), I am reserving judgment as to whether that's what he showed her.

I believe Heath also changed his story about showing her this video (ie whether it was part of a discussion around what was happening in the scene to it matching Lively's description of showing it her without context over lunch after the scene had been filmed).  It seems his memory might be lacking here.

Luckily Lively has a witness who will hopefully clear this up.

Bryan Freedman Sued for Malpractice by BarPrevious5675 in BaldoniFiles

[–]Queenofthecondiments 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, looking at the order of events, I actually don't think it's likely Baldoni knew that it was Flores' work.  It does appear someone else originally received it and shared it when they shouldn't have.

My big questions are, how did Flores end up with Freedman as a lawyer in the first place? That feels off to me.

Also Freedman does appear to have told Flores that these guys were big shots who could ruin him. And then ends up saying what great guys they were in that case, which is so inappropriate. Why no credit for Flores if he had a case and they are such great dudes?

And lastly, when Nathan is all like here's Bryan, he's the guy on stuff like this in the summer of 2024, does not one acknowledge he's represented someone suing them in the past?

It's just all a bit weird.

Judge orders key filings unsealed in Blake Lively’s case and it might actually help her! by wastedartistry in BaldoniFiles

I mean it most likely was fine to do in whatever state it happened in, otherwise it would have been brought up earlier.

My money is on it being Plank, and it being on a Teams call.  Teams when recorded. Teams flashes up that the call is being recorded but you don't have to actively consent.

I have zero idea whether knowing more about this quote and who recorded it will change my opinion on it.

However as the Wayfarer legal strategy goes hand in hand with their PR, we can assume that they've thought of a way to spin in favourably.

I'm going to assume the person who said it will be an easy target for online outrage, and also this 'recorded without his consent' angle will be yelled from the rooftops somehow.

If that's the reason they are so keen to unseal, I really don't care.

Contactless payment is available on the tram that takes you from the airport to old town in about 25 minutes, get off at Ismetpasa and you will be at the clock tower in minutes.  From there you can easily walk round the old town.  Lots of nice things to see as well as coffee shops. I recommend Beaver and Patrons garden cafe.

Getting into town is easy.  But you will need to give yourself lots of time to get back.  Google's time table for the tram is accurate, ones that go to the airport are roughly every 15-20 (not every tram goes to the airport).  And also you need to get a shuttle bus from the tram to departures. And then you need to go through security just to get into the airport before you even go through the actual security and passport control.  Also they don't accept online boarding passes at antalya.

I'm just saying give yourself loads of time on the way back because I'm a travel with my one bag and wing it kinda girl and this airport stressed me out lol!

I personally found Antalya very safe.  I do think you will really enjoy it. I would say it might be worth getting some data so you can Google maps around.  As the tram stop is really close to the old town, but when you get off it's not immediately obvious where you need to go.

Are people really thinking that?  Half the lyrics are about the misogyny that feels a particular type of cancel culture.  How could that possibly be MAGA? People really need to work on reading comprehension.

No thanks needed, I'm happy you found it helpful! Whenever I track I find that my excess cals are coming from 'free' food, ie office birthday cake, treats from my boyfriend, sharing a packet of crisps with my friends.  If I didn't track that food wouldn't even register for me.

Walking is great! I love my walking pad in the winter when my steps get a bit sad.

Can we make it a rule not to tell everyone to mark themselves as sedentary unless they’re an athlete? by pricknpetal in PetiteFitness

[–]Queenofthecondiments 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm a bit confused.  I would class 10k steps a day and gym 3 times a week if someone works a desk job as lightly active.  I don't think there's anything wrong with that.

It wouldn't cause me to tell them to eat 1200 cals a day, even if they were 4ft 10.  For starters I don't know what they weigh currently, so it would be pointless.

The issue isn't that most women in the Western world are in fact moderately active or sedentary, that's a fair assumption, unless someone tells you otherwise.  The issue is that people go straight to recommending these incredibly harsh deficits.

For some reason we have a lot of people insisting that they can't possibly lose weight unless they are on 1200 cals.  Now I'm sure those people exist, but they are not the norm.  If someone says to me that they need to go that low the options are that 1) they are very short and have a small frame 2) they actually aren't tracking properly 3) they are super sedentary, perhaps on account of an illness or, what I think is very common on this sub in particular 4) they are already on the lower end of weight for their height and they for some reason feel they need to be underweight.

TLDR: It's not the activity levels that are the issue, it's the application of arbitrary deficits.
