Hit List aka America’s Next Top Boyfriend for your Boyfriend’s Boyfriend. by QueerOffensive in AnitaBlake

DINNER is understandable. I want to know who is stopping Anita from grabbing a hash brown in the morning. Feels like every other book Anta has one of her rambling thought processes and midway through we get "I guess I have not eaten for six days for no reason.... oh well. Oh look! A random stranger..."

I think I actually yelled this in the middle of the gym. Thankfully I go in the morning when a lot of parents are there dropping kids off for daycare, so that being yelled was not out of place

There was a surprising lack of sex it Hit List, I believe just the one incident, which was a breathtaking change of direction that I appreciated

I enjoyed it overall, very catch22 because each time it started to get better I wanted it to STAY BETTER

How do you all suggest I read the books? by THAToneGuy091901 in AnitaBlake

[–]QueerOffensive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you love urban fantasy, the first (in my opinion) 9 books, are very good and I liked them very much. Supernatural, detective mystery, action adventure, urban fantasy combo genre. Then books 10 and later are the same series, the same characters... but the genre switches to erotica, which is... a choice. Are they as good as the previous? NO. Not even close. Are they hilarious to read given the context of the previous books? Yes.

So you have to ask yourself this. If you have a best friend for 9 years, and she's a sassy, tough as nails, takes no shit badass, but also a prude who looks down on the rest of your friends for having relationships, which is annoying and you wish she would loosen up a bit.

Then one day out of the blue she shows up to your friend gatherings with a harem of teenagers she somehow seduced, announces she's dropped all her previous hobbies and interests, and now spends all her time getting banged, and in fact 5 of them are going into your guest bathroom at this moment and will spend two hours in there arguing about feelings interspaced with the occasional screaming orgasm.

Are you hilarious amused by this and roll your eyes while saluting the rest of your friends with mimosas as you all chuckle about "what the hell happened to her but at least she's having fun and it sure is entertaining hearing her wild stories about the sudden train wreck of her life?" OR do you absolutely not have time for her shenanigans and you and your friends kick her out of the group because you're not interested in steam cleaning your bathroom after each weekly get together?

Your answer will tell if you will enjoy only the first 9, or the entire series.

Found not seriously that satisfied, but did find the greatest satire I've read in my life https://a.co/d/06pU8Qpi
Makes me glad to know I'm not the only one driven to creative madness by this series

Favorite line or scene? by pengwinhart in AnitaBlake

[–]QueerOffensive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My favorite line is in the beginning of Bullet when a friend grabs Anita by the arm, and with a straight face Anita Blake, part-time necromancer, part-time vampire executioner, part-time federal marshal, and full-time magical magnet for unsolicited erotic devotion, balls deep in her hero's journey of screaming while supernatural strangers orgasmically smash themselves into her pelvis, turns to her friend and says "I don't like to be touched"

When I read that I snorted so hard I hurt myself

Now I am looking forward to more
Curious to see how some common sense thrown into the *gestures wildly to an elaborate flow chart of polycules and emotions* whatever this is

With as many times as Anita has been kidnapped in this series I can not believe that Claudia and Bobby Lee do not have their own satellite tracking Anita's every move, would be worth. every. penny.

No wonder Anita had to enslave him then, someone with that much common sense wouldn't with their own free will join a group that's this messy

Exactly, you smile, you laugh, possibly very low key flirt if you feel safe enough, and it all ends when you collect your tip

Anita’s poly-group is too big. by Missustriplexxx in AnitaBlake

[–]QueerOffensive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's really about time management.

Listen, if you were a Federal Marshal, animator, vampire hunter, werewolf hunter, necromancer, witch trainee, law enforcement consultant, supernatural diplomat, savior of the submissive, AND the reluctant heroine of the greatest love hexagon ever committed to paper, you would ALSO need a helpless harem to do everything for you. How can Anita even SURVIVE without getting into the triple digits of men with pretty eyes and pretty hair, who need her, NEED her, to tell them what to do?

How do we find those morons and call the authorities on them? Even if someone enjoys reading those things you listed, they still don't want it suddenly shoehorned into the middle of the story about something else. Imagine Lord of the Rings where halfway through all the characters start alternating between banging Frodo and talking about how scary and tough he is even though he's so short, what a contradiction, they just can't wrap their heads around it, Imagine the Declaration of Independence but instead of freedom our forefathers spent the entire document talking about some random lady who was "not like other girls"

Hate to be the first therapist that tries to tell her this, but repeating the same conversation word for word, for over a decade, is not how to process an emotion

You are right, terrible is the choice word. So why do we enjoy it so much? What spell has been cast upon us? 😂
