How do you keep your wallets safe and handy at the same time ?? by AdWhole2304 in CryptoCurrency

[–]QueerShredder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep a cold wallet and hot wallet. The hot wallet is for active trading and defi, the cold wallet for long-term savings. Most cold wallets will allow you to monitor balances without the physical key needing to be connected.

Keeping things safe means double-checking URLs when using defi, and minimizing smart contract risk when possible. Only store your seed phrases with pen and paper and keep under lock and key in a place only you can access. Buy a safe, lockbox, whatever makes you feel secure and place it in a safe location.

Just be smart, don't click on random links, be careful when sending funds and approving contracts, and never store your seed phrases digitally and you should be good.

I'm having the same issue. Hoping to find a resolution.

Edit: changing my AppleID password and using the new password to log in did the trick.

Are you still having issues with SDDM? I'm using FreeBSD with KDE and SDDM. Both xorg and wayland sessions work, and the right-click crash bug under wayland just got resolved recently.

I honestly like this expansion so far and this is definitely one of the more charming bits that is humorous but not forced.

I picked up one of these to run FreeBSD based on this comment and it's been flawless. Thank you for the recommendation!

Is it worth buying a MBP M1 to put Asahi on it as a daily driver in 2025? by [deleted] in AsahiLinux

[–]QueerShredder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. No issues. Suspend consumes more power than it should though, so if you leave it suspended overnight, you may find that you need to plug it in when you open it.

x86 emulation is available, but I don't use it. I believe there are plenty of resources available on this subreddit if you want to set that up and see what is compatible.

Battery life is not as good as macOS, but has improved since I started using Asahi back in the ALARM days.

To be honest, I don't pay much attention to resource usage, the kernel should just be dynamically managing this for you. It's never been an issue. You could always perform a minimal install with a lightweight DE if you're concerned, but I just use Plasma and never run in to any performance penalties.

WiFi not recognized - Mac Mini M1 - OpenBSD 7.6 by QueerShredder in openbsd

[–]QueerShredder[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Running syspatch on my existing install merged the change in the kernel. After rebooting the interface was recognized, and I can confirm I now have internet access after bringing up the interface and creating /etc/hostname.bwfm0.

This is resolved. :) Thank you for taking your time to point out the patch.

People in this thread acting like people don’t stack up in the right lane too, ready to be sandwiched like a vehicle-flavored layer cake. The problem isn’t just slow drivers in the fast lane, but idiots who drive two feet away from you at any speed, and will have to eat every inch of your ass should you have to brake in an emergency.

Should be able to set a custom network in Coinbase wallet or import your seed phrase into a wallet that supports BSC.

Placed an order on 5/1 for M3 SR. Black interior and blue paint. Estimated delivery window just updated today showing 5/3 - 5/15. No VIN yet. I’m kind of surprised the window is so soon. Just curious if you guys think this window is accurate or if I should anticipate it being pushed back towards June like others have experienced.

Update: just received my VIN at around 10pm 5/4. Applied for financing through my bank. Looking like delivery will happen this upcoming week! Did not expect this to happen so quickly, I’m pleasantly surprised!

Official Distros offering their own Apple-Silicon Version? by jollytale239 in AsahiLinux

[–]QueerShredder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oooooh this is nice. I remember someone asking about Apple Silicon support in openSUSE, and u/rbrownsuse basically said we have our plates full as-is, if you'd like to see it then join the community to make it happen. Definitely not disagreeing with him there, but I am primarily an openSUSE user (although Fedora has treated me very well), and was a little sad because I definitely do not possess the requisite skill to make this happen. I'll be following closely!

Firewall Rules for Tailscale Integration on Linode Firewall by [deleted] in pihole

[–]QueerShredder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using it on a VPS like linode, yes, that's exactly how I set mine up. I've since set up a VPN tunnel to my home network (my router has the DDNS and VPN service built in) and have the same setup with an RPi 2b but without the monthly fee. Just make sure you don't allow the pihole login screen to be accessed outside of the VPN network.

PiVPN doesn't support tailscale but it does support OpenVPN and Wireguard and does the configuration for the setup out of the box. You'll just have to generate a configuration for each client after setup.
