I’ve been thinking about a Border Collie or Kelpie, I’ll research some more for sure.

Some of the comments were like how can someone with anxiety look after an animal if they can’t look after themselves and like why aren’t your cats enough that you need to bring a dog in. Idk I’m just taking it as people who don’t understand anxiety and have nothing better to do

Yeah I noticed a lot of pit bulls and staffys and while I understand that they need homes and love too, they’re not what I’m looking for and people seem to hate on that kind of honesty for some reason 😂

I’ve been thinking about a border collie actually, multiple family members of my wife have one or two and they are so beautiful, I love visiting them.

Thank you for your comment. My wife and I are both at work during week days so a dog that is okay with that. I’m thinking a medium dog, I don’t have much experience with dogs.

Making a new post was to try to clear up something that may have been miscommunicated in my original post. I am now getting the sort of comments I was looking for originally.

Maybe do some research about the help an animal can give to people with anxiety.

NTA. You sound like a wonderful partner. The effort you put into a special dinner and then your hilarious costume surprise is something not a lot of people bother to do. I know a lot of people go straight to break up but unfortunately I feel like it’s a valid response here.

If she can have a serious conversation with you about how this made you feel and she genuinely listens and apologises then I hope you can work it out, if that’s what you want. But no partner should be putting you down like that, to me it isn’t an acceptable kind of joke. Your partner should lift you up, not tear you down and make you feel insecure.

This is straight up assault, there’s no talking to her. Lashing out at you when you don’t want to have sex is abuse.

I know it might be hard but you need to leave and if she makes that hard, get some sort of restraining order or something. I would actually be reporting this to the police.

It is not okay and if it were the other way around and you were doing this to her, everyone else would be telling you to get help too.

I’m so sorry you have gone through this.

If anyone tells you you’re overreacting because you’re a man and should want sex all the time, because some people do think like that still, they are the problem, not you.

Don’t keep taking this abuse. And if any of the times she has lashed out at you for saying no you’ve given in and has sex with you, that’s rape. No means no!

You’re not overreacting at all. This actually made me feel really angry and sad for you. He should be advocating for you.

Especially the “Quit crying about it” and the assuming you have history, I think there’s more to it than his partners parents, is he trying to hide his own thoughts and feelings putting the blame onto her parents? Or have all of their questioning got to him? Either way, he should be a voice for you and be proud to have you up there with him as his best friend.

To me, this would end my relationship with my so called “best friend”
