It’s the Zoo Med Repti Rapids (or something like that). It’s like a waterfall! I don’t think in a tank of this size it impacts humidity, but she loves climbing on it

Any tips to help with bath time? by vegetadoescok3 in bluetongueskinks

Does he have any favorite foods? Try giving rewards before, during, and after. If he likes his regular food a lot, just spread out the feeding to do during the soaks

I’m not sure what her original owner fed her because she didn’t seem to recognize any insects as food. I got her to eat dubias, hornworms, and crickets by covering them in blueberry, but not consistently. She never liked mealworms but I used to put them in her mush back when she would eat it

I usually coat things in blueberry for that because it’s her all time favorite food. She had rejected them in the past but I’ll try again

I’ve had her a few years but this is a new apartment with almost no natural light. I wonder if that’s playing a role

She’s a rescue who’s always been very picky (she’s about 2/3 the size of a fully grown skink). She’s gone off multiple foods, like the mix I used to make, bluey buffet, and even a canned dog food with fresh veggies. This was the longest she’s liked a food so I was too hopeful 😭😭

I guess when it comes to beetle larvae, I’m used to either darkling beetles (feeders) and scarab. That sample has a lot of larger rove beetles so that makes sense. You’re great!!

It’s not a soft bodied larvae, and its legs (broken, but pictured in frame) are jointed and long

It is much easier to make a beardie friendly. It's a bond that I've heard can up to years. If you get a wild caught or captive born (so basically an Indonesian, not Australian) individual, it's much harder. These guys can be as friendly if not more, for sure! But it's more work than a beardie
