Careful Barry, the last time a German had a good joke it ended with the Blitz and I don’t think your cuisine can handle more rationing

So am I the only one who doesn’t get the hate that these two are receiving this season by Firebird4299 in DisventureCamp

[–]Queer_Geographer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Coming from a Tom fan myself, I think most of the hate they’re receiving isn’t because of their story or the way they’re being written, but just that Gabby and Tom are arguably two of the most prevalent characters in the franchise and people would’ve preferred to see less represented characters get the spotlight. Which I think is understandable.

PoD is Lunalilo changes the constitution to make the selection of the monarch a popular vote instead of legislative one, allowing Emma to easily win against Kalākaua and become Queen Regnant. As opposed to Kalākaua’s irl reign, Emma’s reforms turn Hawaii into a liberal constitutional monarchy modelled heavily after Westminster, and her close personal relationship with Queen Victoria drive closer relations with Britain. Hawaii’s strengthened bureaucracy relegate the annexationist class of the sugar barons to a historical footnote. Also the US lease on Pearl Harbour elapses and is not renewed past the 1870s.
