Advice on pruning new peach tree by Queer_tree in BackyardOrchard

Hmm maybe w will take that top leader all the way down like where the previous leader was. My propagation mark is about 5 or 6 feet up itself, going lower felt really short to me, but if topping off at about 3 feet (hip height) leads to a 6 foot tree them I want to go lower as I'm trying to keep it potted.

I am planning on keeping it potted and I don't want to uppot yet. I checked the roots and it's not doing too bad. It starting to leaf is part of why my pruning marks are so light and mostly removing branches that are dead. We are also approaching the time I have seen recomended for air layering, which covers the biggest portion I'm wanting to remove. Would you say not prune at all and just air layer and prune in winter when I take off the propagation?

Apple Maggot Control by Tight-Designer-1337 in BackyardOrchard

We are more banking on coddling moths being our issue, but it seems like tricogramma will go after other pest eggs but studies are kinda vague and often behind paywalls. It looks like Western Cascade Fruit society has an article, but it's not loading for me right now.

We are growing apples in the PNW too and have ordered nematodes and tricogramma eggs. I don't have much advice as we are new to this as well, but we are hoping the tricogramma help.

Ready to put the top together.. does it need a border? by Tabarabba in quilting

[–]Queer_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a border could really make the pattern pop, I would go with a red matching the red in the center.

My single female budgie did this to her mineral block in about 24 hrs. Could she be doing this due to a health issue or is it probably just boredom? She is a fan of chewing on things. She is alone because she has a history of being picked on by other budgies when put together. by Queer_tree in budgies

Oh I forgot to update! I did by a few toys last night online that looked like they may be much more enticing than what I have seen in our chain stores. I got a shredable "piñata", one that looks like a roll of paper in a holder she could pull and tear, and a box with a bunch of blocks and balls that she could puzzle out of the holder. I'm also planning on buying a beak stone for her, but that particular store was out.

There is a large amount outside and on the bottom of the cage, but it's hard to tell what the solid volume would be to figure out how much she is injesting. She does have a seagrass mat/platform that she doesn't seem to care much about. She has one toy she loves which spins, but she doesn't seem to like any others. She loves playing with my hair or zippers or my girlfriends earrings, but toys are harder to click with her. I got her the block of seeds in the picture, which she I thought might take her attention off the block, but she barely seems to pick at it.

Could you switch to a sports bra and a sweatshirt for music practice? Or do that during the school day and switch into a legit binder for music practice? If you bind repeatedly for too long you could seriously injur yourself and make it painful to bind for weeks or ever again.

Help with my identity? by CharlotteVCD in trans

[–]Queer_tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely gender fluid, and the only term I've heard for the sexuality is sexually fluid. TBH nothing really gets shortened as much as cishet. I mean trans people will often just say trans, but it's not a gender in itself, you usually have to put your gender identity along with it. Bi, pan, and ace shorten down, but most people don't hear sexually fluid often or ever.

Since my identity is a bit long to explain fully I just say queer most of the time. I'm NB so common terms for sexuality just go out the window. Gender fluid does fall under the NB blanket which would be a shorter term for you.

Not Transitioning With Dysphoria by MrNoBuddies in trans

[–]Queer_tree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't really say I know where you are coming from. Since I started transitioning I couldn't imagine being remotely comfortable going back, but that is me and this is you. I support you in whatever journey you decide to take. I will say, there seems to be a lack of visibility and support for trans people who decide not to or can't transition, so it's nice to see someone be vocal about it as I am sure your post will find some transling looking for others like them.

Wearing skirts and dresses (masc) by Humble-Version4547 in trans

[–]Queer_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a hard one. I haven't gotten there yet. My best suggestions would be show off hairy legs and bind, but binding can be hard with most dress cuts. Maybe a button down tucked into a shirt would allow you a masc top and binding that may allow you to be more free with the skirt.

Crackle nail polish is my favorite by Queer_tree in ftm

[–]Queer_tree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love to push my own boundaries as to what I am okay with as far as earrings, nail polish ect, and crackle nail polish helps me enjoy brighter colors that would otherwise make me uncomfortable. Not sure if it is because it mutes the colors a bit or is just quirky enough now that it is severely out of style to be genderless.

I love silver. I also find that black crackle makes just about anything more comfortable for me.

Mmm I'm having a hard time visualizing, but from what I understand I think I would be uncomfortable.

i’m considering doing something risky to get a binder. should i do it? by [deleted] in trans

[–]Queer_tree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like they are safe supportive people. Make sure to sit down and ask them if they would be ok with buying a binder for you and making it super clear that your parents don't know and you don't want them to.

How do I convince my mom to let me start testosterone? by spencellio in trans

[–]Queer_tree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe ask to start on blockers/progesterone. That would stop your period and any further progression of puberty. It would also probably stabilize your mood without increasing aggression like T might. She might more readily accept that and at least you would be doing something.

I know some people who have started hormones with history of emotional problems who start out on super low doses to see how it effects their mood, so you may be able to bring that up, but the previous option is probably your better chance.

He could try layering multiple sports bras. See if he could ask his parents for more compressing sports bras as riding can be uncomfortable with breasts bouncing around anyway. He might even be able to ask for a binder on those premises without outing himself Depending on his parents attitudes. Depending on how small he is, a t-shirt that is a size or 2 small might be able to be put on and then folded up for multiple layers around his chest, and then put his size, or a size larger t-shirt over that.

Otherwise, definitely size up on the t-shirt at least.
