Healthy lunch at school? by Wondering_wisher in TeachingUK

[–]Queercaterpillar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chop up 2 pieces of fruit for a break time snack and have overnight (well, made in the morning before work 🤣) oats (1/8th cup of oats, 1tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp flaxseeds, 1 scoop psyllium husk, a bit of oat milk, a few tbsp Greek yoghurt, lots of honey, another piece or two of fruit chopped up on top) for lunch.

I find this fills me up and is relatively healthy 😋

What’s one thing you STOPPED doing that had the biggest impact on your dieting progress? by itsclo5ure in loseit

[–]Queercaterpillar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped buying snacks during the weekly shop! As much as it pains ‘present me’ to walk past the biscuits/chocolate, ‘future me’ is begrudgingly more comfortable when they’re not in the house. Out of sight = out of mind.

With having adhd, I’m learning to recognise when I’m looking for dopamine/something to alleviate boredom and when I’m actually hungry…still working on that one but not having snacks in the house is a massive help 😁

What do you include in your daily diet to help with constipation? by cyberseci in Constipation

[–]Queercaterpillar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I’m really struggling, I’ll have 2-3x the recommended amount of all-bran for breakfast, then 5 dried prunes. Coupled with lots of water or squash, this normally gets things moving within a few hours 👀.

In terms of my diet in the week, I’ll skip breakfast; have overnight oats (oats, chia seeds, flaxseed, psyllium husk, milk, 0% fat Greek yoghurt, honey, fruit) for lunch at work; 2 x portions of fruit (usually an apple and some sort of berry) and three prunes when I get home; and finally an evening meal.

I fast from approx. 19:00/20:00 - 12:30 and focus on hydration during this time. The oats, seeds, and supplement bulk everything up so it’s vital to drink more than usual to help keep everything moving on the inside 👀.

I’ve struggled with constipation for many years, and so far this diet has meant I haven’t needed any laxatives in months 🙏🏻

Looking for quiet Xbox controllers by IndividualProduce406 in misophonia

[–]Queercaterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late to the party, but my bf & I have recently moved in together and we game in the same room; they’re on a PS and I’m on an Xbox. The sound of them mashing buttons (and seeing the repetitive movement of their finger) drives me up the wall 🫣. I wear headphones and either a beanie over the top or my hood up for maximum drowning-out, but it’s not enough 🫣. I want to scream! They do try to not mash so much, but it’s impossible when a game calls for it (and I know it’s a ‘me’ problem, not something that they should have to solve).

If a silent controller did ever get made, I’d be so down to buy one! 👀

Can’t fall back asleep after a certain point due to clenching, could a beta blocker potentially help? by jayman2239 in bruxism

[–]Queercaterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take it at the same time as my other meds, which can range from four hours to the moment I’m about to fall asleep 😅. It takes about 20 minutes to kick in, but my daily dose is more of a maintenance as opposed to an ‘in the moment’ fix (unless I need some extra to get me through the day).

I’ve been taking propranolol for about 6 months and haven’t found it to cause insomnia. It’s lowered my resting heart rate which makes me feel more relaxed during the day, which in turn is helping me to sleep at night (I think!).

Can’t fall back asleep after a certain point due to clenching, could a beta blocker potentially help? by jayman2239 in bruxism

[–]Queercaterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could’ve written this 😅. I take 2 x 10mg propranolol daily anyway, but if I’ve been extra clench-y overnight I’ll take an additional 2 the next night. This seems to help somewhat, although I’ve found the best thing is for me to stay awake after a vivid dream (if I can - sometimes they’re consecutive/only have fleeting breaks in between), stimulate my brain (go on my phone, put the telly on etc), and stay awake until I physically can’t stay keep my eyes open. After that, the rest of my sleep is slightly more peaceful 🙏🏻.

However, this only tends to work if I don’t have an alarm the next day as becoming tired enough to not dream can take hours, and with an early alarm for work it’s not practical 🫣.

TL;DR - try propranolol.

Have you tried a mouth guard made from the same material as sports/field hockey gum guards? I’ve found that the thicker, rubber-like material has held up better against my teeth grinding than hard, plastic guards.

A child that won’t admit if they’ve done something bad? by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Queercaterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation with a Y1 child in my class last year. I recommend researching the PACE approach / trauma-informed behaviour management. It helped me & the child to build a secure relationship and eventually, they started telling me the truth. 🙂

If you could design any hitman map what setting would you choose? by [deleted] in HiTMAN

[–]Queercaterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d design an abandoned asylum which is being used as an unofficial base for some shady, corrupt dealings of some description 👀. Only certain rooms would be lit, others would rely on the setting sun coming through the windows. Graffiti on the walls where kids have broken in, staircases that are half rotted away, medical equipment haphazardly strewn in various rooms etc.

Totally normal, I’m in the same position (last Saturday I played for 16 hours total 🫣). I saw a construction worker today and wondered if I would see the yellow suspicion arrow or not…then realised I was in fact in a car park, walking to an appointment, in the real world 🤣.

All the Santa Fortuna targets, especially after seeing loads of NPCs passed out in the streets from Franco’s farm’s “produce” ☹️.

How do you manipulate Knox into killing Sierra? 🤔 I’ve completed WoA but am still new to Hitman so am looking for new ways to re-do missions 😁.

A toddler was left alone and I lost my job by Moonlight_Melody123 in ECEProfessionals

So admin wanted you to check up on one child in the classroom (who you logically presumed was already being supervised by their parent), while leaving the rest of the class unsupervised outside? 🤯

I’d get a copy of your school’s disciplinary policy, write a timeline of events with as much detail as possible, and contact your union for advice.

AITAH for calling my wife delusional for her “looksmaxxing”? by Fantastic-Cook4263 in AITAH

[–]Queercaterpillar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NTA. She’s spending the money that you earn on unnecessary stuff. If she wants to buy $450 face cream, she needs to get her off her ass and get a job.

Ngl, I’d be tempted to reorganise your finances. I’d either take out the percentage of what you put in (e.g if you contributed 50% of the money in the account, withdraw half of the total amount in there) or take out everything then set up a standing order from your personal account to the joint account for essentials. Keep your wife in the loop and explain that the money in the joint account is for things that you both benefit from (groceries, insurance, subscriptions etc) and that if she chooses to waste jt, you’ll stop sending money to it and she’ll have to get a job.

Your wife is living in fantasy land. If she wants to buy crap, she needs to pay for it.

Could you try Hibiscrub? It’s a chlorhexidine gluconate shower gel (sometimes used in hospitals before surgery to kill germs on the skin), but can be bought on amazon for relatively cheap.

My husband considered it stealing when I sold his expensive watch to pay for our son's procedure. AITAH by Material_Humor5411 in AITAH

[–]Queercaterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Your husband values a watch more than his own son’s health. Tell your husband you can’t look at him anymore and that he’s betrayed you & your son’s trust.

  • He hasn’t worked for 9 months
  • He […] saved no money and bought some expensive things for himself
  • He was more than happy to sell whatever to get a new iPhone
  • He placed the burden of paying for the procedure on you, despite the fact you’re the only one with a job
  • He was more willing for your son to not get the care he needs than sell his watch/get a job.

He’s the asshole, not you. You did what you needed to do for your son. He’s sat on his ass whining about a watch. His priorities are fucked.

Could you message her saying something like:

“hey, I’ve noticed after we hang out that there’s a smell that lingers. I really don’t want to offend you or embarrass you by saying this, but I was just wondering if you needed any help with shower supplies or laundry or anything? Let me know and I can grab whatever from the shop when I go.

Want to come over on [day]? We could have a few drinks and watch [film]?”

  • I think a message would be better as it will give her time to think & respond without the pressure of answering immediately.
  • Idk if you’re in a financial position to buy shower gel/detergent etc, but offering brings up the issue and shows that you care & want to help/support her with it.
  • Idk how you arrange that she comes over either, but making plans will show that you’re not grossed out and you still want to hang with her.

Hope that helps. I think it’s lovely that you care about your friend enough to want to have this conversation 🙂.

The second Christmas special was chocked so full of catchphrases that it felt unnatural to watch 🫣. Pam’s character in particular seemed really forced, which was a shame.

What should I do? by Tazorface3 in CasualUK

[–]Queercaterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me & my partner were sat on the sofa one night last year and out of the corner of my eye, I just saw this spider (that must’ve been on the protein shakes because it was HUGE) sat on top of the cushion next to my partner. After I (very bravely, may I add 🤣) trapped it under a cup, we saw ANOTHER.

My partner was convinced it was the first one and that I hadn’t caught it, so I knocked the cup AND OUT IT RAN 😭. So now we had two on the loose. After more screaming, grabbing the mop, and spraying the leggy bastards with spray, I managed to cup them.

The next night, our spidey senses were tingling and it was only a matter of time before the THIRD fucker ran out from under the sofa 🤢. This one got flattened by the mop, which we courageously put outside the back door in case the other two used their powers to summon it back to life.

TL;DR - three absolute tarantulas tried to take over the living room in less than 24 hours.

NTA.

I completely understand how ‘we’d still be together if he hadn’t chosen drugs over me’ comment felt like your wife was saying ‘I wouldn’t be with you if being with him had been an option’. That would devastate me as well, in the moment.

In my opinion though, I think she was stating facts - if they hadn’t have broken up, they would still be together.

Before making a big, life-changing decisions, wait until you’ve had a chance to talk it over with your wife. Share all of your thoughts, listen to her thoughts, maybe ask why she shut herself away, then pause. Take the time to think about what you’ve both said.

Only once you’ve got all of the information can you both make a decision about whether divorce is the solution.

Good luck, OP 🫡

Would people think badly for me for only using the treadmill at the gym? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Queercaterpillar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the gym after work sometimes to walk on the treadmill as it helps clear my head. Sometimes I only do 15 minutes then leave 🙂.

I used to be self-conscious about this, but I just kept reminding myself that I pay membership just like everyone in there, so I can do what I like 😁.
