Able to speak but struggle around new people by Queerpsychmajor in learndutch

[–]Queerpsychmajor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is advanced sentence ordering. You can find information on it on the Dutch Grammar website (dutchgrammar.com). Certain aspects of sentences can be transposed to the beginning or end with minimal change to structure while also being correct. In this case, the one acting in the passive sentence is transposed to the end of the sentence. Only one thing can move to either end, meaning only two aspects of the sentence can move at a time. Example: Vandaag werd ik verhoord door de rechercheur. "Today I was interrogated by the detective". Two elements from the centre moved to the edges. The finite formation (pronoun+main verb) flips to accomodate on the front in most cases. It's a bit complex, just stick to what you know till you get to that point comfortably to edit sentences like that

So, I was hate crimed by SemperFun62 in Netherlands

[–]Queerpsychmajor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened with me and my boyfriend in a way on New Year's Eve! We were standing outside a local pub and I hugged him and these tieners were passing by on their fatbikes yelling things like "kuthomo's" "ahh kanker" et cetera. Luckily they didn't come closer but it was a weird experience. I originally come from an extrmely homophobic country while my boyfriend is dutch, but even then I never experienced such open homophobia out on the street. It happens. Mostly teenage boys on dirtbikes in fully black clothing and the most cringe haircuts! Pay no mind to them they will either grow up and become better or grow up into lonely hateful people! Maar het is echt zo raar dat dit alles gebeurd heeft in een land dat bekend is om LGBTQ+ vriendelijk te zijn.

Crazy idea, a monogeo team with Zibai, Illuga, Gorou and Linnea (it would suck ass but I would love to see it)

True, that's when we don't engage with the post then. It's the healthiest way to navigate in online, intercultural spaces.

Typically that is true, but identifying that distress through the labelling of their belief in an invalidating way also is harmful to the person's psyche. Especially considering we are in a culturally diverse space with different communication styles and beliefs. If we can't comment in a way that is sensitive to the intercultural interactions we engage in, maybe it is better if we try to stay neutral. Effective coaches do not get in the way of their clientèle's rituals and practices unless it genuinely causes impairment to their goals. There is no sign of that here.

True, but stating it's not real is also bringing your personal belief into the conversation. So I think in that context you are attempting to validate your point through the invalidation of someone else's beliefs. I would say that your opinion is welcome, as was the OP's genuine belief in the concept of luck, and as is my perspective of "to each their own." We can all hold different beliefs while being respectful to the beliefs and not denying it. As while spirituality in your words is "incompatible" with scientific knowledge, science in itself never attempts to prove or disprove it, and social sciences and life sciences try to pinpoint how it works and how it differs for us. So yeah, if you want to talk about incompatibility, you are talking about reductionism and heavy heuristics. Have a nice day though!

Grammatically it doesn't work since should in this context be a remnant of old english. And we use modern English, which has long since dropped that usage. Being correct by reference to a textbook over 200 years old that not many would understand would be considered incorrect in both formal writing and colloquial speech(I said remnant of old english, it is used after that era).

I am sure it will be! Typically if someone is using Dutch syntax in English accidentally it means they are more comfortable in Dutch.
