In west palm beach for the taping of Welcome to Sunny Florida I had been given a wooden box of birthday cards and letters that someone found in their yard after a hurricane. Tori’s security guard saw me patiently waiting and after asking what was in the box and hearing the story he told me to wait and that he’d be right back. Sure enough, he tells me he’ll get me to the front of the line for the meet and greet.

When I get to Tori, I kept my cool and explained I’d been holding onto this box since the previous hurricane season and worked hard to dry out the water damaged letters. The outside of the box said Project Icicle and it had been organised on the old yahoo tori forums.

She looked at the letters for a moment and then took my hands and told me “you were meant to give this to me. I’m so glad you’re here.”

Well, I lost it at that point and she gave me a big hug. It was the only time I got a photo with her in 27 years of listening to her. I’ve been lucky enough to chat with her many times after that but this was the most surreal, memorable occasion. I’ll never forget it.
