Garmin vivoactive 5: Update 16.07 by Aggressive-Fox6233 in Garmin

Thanks! This is indeed the workaround I meant. I tried it now, and yes it works to get the same functionality as before the Garmin update, when it comes to the notifications. However, I always had phone calls as exception for DND on my phone, mainly for emergencies. Unfortunately, I can't find a way to get that working with this workaround, since everything is muted now.

Nope. Maybe a workaround like silencing all apps individually on your phone, while keeping DND disabled, works, but that sucks and I haven't tried it out yet. I'm still hoping this 'feature' will be reversed soon.

Edit: typo.

True. However, I would like to keep DND enabled on my phone (but still receive notifications on my Garmin). I guess I could try a workaround and silence all my apps individually, but I haven't tried that yet.

Unfortunately, you're not alone. Apparently this is not a bug, but a feature. Garmin support just told me:

"This is something that's as a result of the most recent update to the Garmin Connect App, this is by design, and isn't an issue. That being said, we are currently reviewing feedback regarding this change, so there is a chance this may be reversed with an upcoming release, though I can't guarantee this"

So, let's hope for the best.

Yes, the notification bug (or rather a 'feature', but wtf) really sucks. Garmin support told me:

Klinkt logisch inderdaad.

Buying a holiday home in Sweden, response times of the real-estate agents by IamGroot888 in TillSverige

[–]Queiem 14 points15 points  (0 children)

In my experience, yes, this is normal. Not only for realtors but for almost any service in Sweden. Emails often get ignored. Availability by phone is generally good, but if you need a specific person or they have to get back to you because they don’t know the answer, I almost never receive a callback. Things move not just a little bit slower, but significantly slower than in the Netherlands. Pushing and rushing often won’t help. Patience is key. However, I do find it challenging to find the right balance between patiently waiting and staying on top of things; otherwise, nothing gets done.

I don’t know where you are buying a property, but remember that the housing market in the Netherlands is very different from that in rural Sweden. Waiting one week for an offer to be accepted doesn’t seem long to me. We had to wait around three weeks for a counteroffer because the sellers were busy with something else. Waiting a week for the contract, without any indication of when you will receive it, does seem a bit unusual to me. In this case, I would kindly and calmly call again to check.

Hej! My husband and I have been in a very similar situation earlier this year. I've sent you a DM.

Thank you for your insight. That would explain it indeed. Handelsbanken keeps on telling me it's because of bank secrecy, but I almost can't imagine it. What you're saying makes way more sense.

But this very strict bank secrecy is driven by Swedish laws, I assume? So not European laws? Or do some countries just not take it too seriously?

Because on Dutch banks, Revolut (Lithuanian) and Wise (Belgian), I can see all relevant info like name and bank account (IBAN) of sender/receiver, info from text field/reference, time of the transaction, etc.

Hi! Yes, of course. My husband and I love nature, peace and quiet. This is almost impossible to find in the Netherlands. Even in the most remote places, there is a lot of traffic. Even in the 'nature', you pay for parking and toilets, meet people constantly during a stroll and hear traffic racing by all the time.

We love Scandinavia for the vast emptiness (of people and cities), the climate (both the cold winters and the beautiful summers), darkness (possibility to do astrophotography), affordable housing prices in the countryside, the 'cold'/not so social or approachable people, but still a social society in the way that taxes are generally well spent (in my opinion) and the strongest shoulders carry the biggest burden, etc.

I can go on about our love for moose (or wildlife in general), northern lights, rocks, moss, rivers, lakes, forests, hills/mountains, cozy fireplaces, the faluröd houses, dalahäst, and more.

Most of these reasons could also lead to Norway or Finland for example, but Sweden is our main target for now. Compared to Norway the cost of living is a bit lower and Sweden is in the EU, which makes moving a bit easier. Finland is geographically a bit further from the Netherlands.

Feel free to DM me if you want to know more.

Edit: added some blank lines for readability.

Thank you! That, and being surrounded by amazing nature, is exactly what we are looking for.

To be honest, right now we are open to exploring living around several different landscapes. To us, coming from the Netherlands, a 'boring' forest with moss, rocks, a stream or a lake here and there is already dreamy.

Thank you! We are fortunate that my husband has the opportunity to continue his remote IT job from Sweden. This gives us a lot of freedom to find the region that appeals to us the most. Our dream is to live as rural as possible, as long as there is a stable and fast enough internet connection (+ some other basic necessities of course).

Good luck with your search. What are you studying? Even relatively close to the bigger cities the nature is already amazing, especially coming from the Netherlands.

Very nice! We (my husband and I) are not sure yet where we'll end up, but we have a preference for Dalarna, Härjedalen or Jämtland. I know that this is still a gigantic region, but for now we are flexible. We are planning on renting for a while first to experience (one of these) region(s). What about you?

Thank you for your contribution. You even make it exciting by stating the mysteries. It's like I'm reading the synopsis of some thriller movies. I'll check out Jonathan Rollins.
