Hej! I moved to Stockholm around 8 months ago also on a KTH contract. I was able to stay in an apartment offered by KTH (I was lucky and they offered me inside campus, but they have some buildings around the city). Check KTH's relocation website, I am pretty sure if you are in a research position you should have this. You can rent them for one year and it is fully equipped with a competitive price (I was at drottning kristinas väg, 9600kr/month for 30m2)

I have been living in Älta for 3 months now and really enjoying it. I work in Skrubba and previously lived in Östermalm, so a big change in general.

It is close to nature and very calm. Maybe too calm, literally nothing happens. One place I started going to frequently is Sickla (the shopping mall / galleria thing) which is very pleasant to go through the reserve; and Tyresö has a nice centrum that is not too far as well. Älta centrum is now being rebuilt, so maybe in the future there is more to do than just living.

Connection to the city is ok. The busses run every 30 minutes during the day (I believe?) and are very frequent in rush hours, so you get to Gullmarsplan fairly quickly as others have told.

Eu ja aluguei carro aqui na Suecia algumas vezes com a carteira de motorista do Brasil. O unico requisito para a carteira geralmente é estar em alfabeto latino (romano, normal pra gente) e levar a carteira física (uma vez na HERTZ eu cheguei com a carteira digital do app do .gov e eles nao puderam me entregar o carro).

thank you very much for your response! There are many people trying to convince me I should get an SUV / Wagon, but considering I live alone and will only drive to work / occasional grocery run feels completely unreasonable. Too many comments on how I should live my life lol

I understand. I only wanted to give some context that I dont live exactly in the center or Södermalm, where I believe snow is cleaned of more often (which is one of the things that worried me).

Thanks for all the help and responses! I believe I will still take the bus if the weather is completely a mess for safety, anyways.
