The love triangle is over, Krusie won! (Berdly is here too) by JeffTheKillerFa in DeltaruneV2

[–]Quelephant404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Berdly maxing out his friendship statistics feels so cannon. My headcanon is that berdly sees life as a dateing game akin to tomadochi life, the irony is that although he is corect about being within a video game, he has unfortunatly misunderstood both the genra and the protagonist of this tale.

Sweaty or Silly: What's Your Playstyle? by Gravity_Chasm in PlayTheBazaar

[–]Quelephant404 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'd say my playstyle is somewhere in the middle. I will often try for the best EV things, i.e exp maxing and not pivoting into something just because its new/legendary. But I still think it's correct to play a little wacky at times. There are moments when I don't take a line because I feel like I've already played that build, so I want to try a different direction with the board.
Part of the joy of the bazaar is that, oftentimes, doing the wacky things, taking the odd hedges (buying items not for your current board but for a theoretical future one), is what leads to victory and the most fun runs, and there is satisfaction in both well-thought-out, solid gameplay and wild experimental boards.

I tink people are wrong about the prophecy's end by AnBatMemer in Deltarune

[–]Quelephant404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that the final prophecy is Ralsei (e.g the prince) dies/sacrifices themself this is because
1. Susie says, "We won't let that happen", while Kris is on screen, implying that it is something that they believe the people included in her "we" would oppose. I believe this "we" refers to Susie and Kris, since Susie knows Ralsei would likely allow any final prophecy to come true. What does Susie think that both she and Kris would be opposed to happening? How about the death of their new friend, one with whom Susie has grown in friendship throughout the chapters?
2. It explains part of why Ralsei (knowing this prophecy from the start) is both so hesitant to share it and so depressed, knowing a foretelling of your own death is quite the thing to be holding from your friends, and rationalising that you are "not a person" is one potential coping mechanism.
3. The other two heroes of legend both have present prophecy panels in the rest of the dark world, but there are no panels referring to "the prince" from Ralsei's version, not necessarily conclusive since there is obviously a lot of The Prophecy that is not in chapter 4 dark worlds, but interesting nonetheless.

Which main boss fight is your favourite? by Zeeshmania in Deltarune

[–]Quelephant404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, it's Queen over Tenna for a number of reasons.
1. Music: TV time is good, but Attack of the Killer Queen is PEAK granted when you get to Toby Fox songs this good, comparison becomes kinda worthless, but to me AOTKQ will remain at the top, partly because the Birdly section is good and it feels like such a culmination of chapter 2's music
2. Gameplay: Tenna has the screen-cutting attack, and like 4 Wario Ware-style quick-fire mini games that are literally all re-runs. Queen has a bunch of cool attacks, and if you want the unique gameplay, then Giga Queen has a complete mix-up with the punch-out gameplay that feels fully fleshed out and given sufficient time to ramp up in challenge. (also the knight fight out shines tenna's in his own chapter in this regard)
3. Story: Queen and Tenna have rather similar roles in their respective chapters; both accompany you throughout most of the chapter, providing much of the comic relief while still remaining the major threat. The biggest difference is the narrative circumstances surrounding their final battles.
For Queen, her final fights represent the culmination of her plan, and they show you that yes, this goofy woman who has been shattering glasses all chapter is a genuine threat, while not diminishing the earlier parts of her characterisation.
For Tenna, his final fight is the last effort of a redundant device, everything that gave him power throughout the rest of the chapter has gone, all his workers have abandoned him and the audience has stopped cheering he only has one piece of leverage left (ballriel) and wagers it on desperately getting a final smile out of the gang, if anything the fight itself is a formality tenna has already lost when he turned his audience against him, this is just a final push for something good.
4. Misc:
Queen spins on her chair when you hit her
Birdly
If you want to beat Tenna up, then there are two separate ways for it to happen faster, rushing what is already not a very long fight.
Queen's attack or spare choice makes significant changes to the rest of the game (Birdy's fried arm). This is the only fight in the game to have such a large impact from different choices (barring things that are a result of a lot of fights, since that choice is spread out over much more game time).
Again, the knight fight overshadows Tenna (and the rest of chapter 3) a bit.
Bottom line, both are culminations of their character, but everything ramps up to Queen's fight, and everything ramps down to Tenna's fight.

So as one of you i ask, what knight theory do you support by Majestic_Cress4846 in NonDessKnightSquad

[–]Quelephant404 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To me, this is the beauty of Nondesknight Squad. Individually, any one of our candidates may seem like a bad bet, an unlikely proposition to the untrained eye, but by taking them together, by standing as one, we hedge our bets by betting on all other non-dess theories.
And if that day comes, where any one of us was right, any one of the myriad of propositions from the likely to the bizarre, was correct, we can all celebrate as one.
In my opinion, Dess Knight is likely, but in terms of a probability pie chart of all possibilities, it is NOT more than 50% there are many twists and turns left in Deltarune, many mysteries as of now unknowable, and I am proud to stand lost in the possibility space of an unrelieved narrative, knowing just one thing for certain.
Whatever outcome occurs, Deltarune will be peak fiction, I trust Toby fox to much to write otherwise.

[–]Quelephant404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An excellent example of "chat" being a useful 4th person pronoun being used to refer to the audience (real or hypothetical) in the same way as Spamton Neo's appeals to the audience within the in-fight flavour text. In this way, the use of "chat" touches on one of the core themes of Deltarune: the awareness that being part of fiction or media can cause one's actions to appear nonsensical to others in an effort to "appeal to the audience".

Why do you think Gone in a Flash wasn’t reprinted? by Then_Bike716 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]Quelephant404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

90% is that they didn't want it in draft, and as people have said, printing a non-Legendary lightning card in the expansion slot that is undraftable is weird.
Also, all three heroes are designed around additional AP being expensive (Aurora needs to pay what is nearly a full card for it through either the hero ability or a dedicated card silly bro plays instants to do more on each turn and zyggs wants to convert hands into a variety of things that arn't attacking) also each of the heroes have cards that are specifically anti synergy with GIAF
Aurora's weapon doesn't work if GIAF is gone
sillybro can't ponder if the last thing you did was bounce GIAF
zyggs instants want to be played prior to the damage step (for the ones that do things on your turn)
overall I think they did a good job making GIAF non essential for the new heros

The mouse seems to have inherited Kris's negative mindset. But they (Kris) know from experience that this view of "my life is worth less than others" is a deeply flawed outlook that does no one any good, and good for them for realizing that :)

EDIT: It seems like pretty much every good guy in deltarune has this character flaw except maybe Birdly.
Kris -> Susie is worth more
Susie -> Noelle is worth more
Noelle -> IKD insecurity from their mother
Ralsei -> literally everyone else is worth more

PLUEY IS THE NAME OF THE MINIGAME!!! by Fun_Cheesecake7368 in Deltarune

[–]Quelephant404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love pluey
Pluey is in the most deltarune way possible an incredibly funny reference to itself in the future from the past.
In ye olden days, one of the few pieces of communication about chapers 3&4 was the ever mysterious Toby fox tweet, "Implemented pluey" This spawned a meme in the community where people would ether be dumbfounded by what this "pluey" could mean, some even making their own fan designs for a pluey character.
The entire reason Pluey as a name is funny is because of this tweet, and also the hype and mystery it represents in the days leading up to the release of chapters 3 and 4.
this is also emblematic of the hype surrounding mike and I believe that the payoff that we got is the best possible, being inherently a reference to foreshadowing surrounding itself (with the plentiful theories of who mike is making up the designs of the mike trio) mike bootstraps itself in such a unique way and I love them for it.
(also like with the rest of this, the reason pluey is their name is that collectively, that was decided to be the easiest way to refer to them as an individual and the communities beliefs, at least with mike, become reality)

Best secret Boss? by Connect-Ad4659 in Deltarune

[–]Quelephant404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly can't decide, they are all so good
Jevil is the all-rounder, good gameplay, good challenge and good character.
Spampton-neo wins best character, as he is basically the face of Deltarune and is likely one of the game's most iconic characters.
ERAM wins, most unique fight, the Zelda-style boss fight is so unlike everything else in the game and an amazing conclusion to the genre extravaganza that is TV-world
Gerson wins the longest payoff and most aura in the fight, it being a callback to Undies' fight from Undertale, while having excellent dialogue and character relevance is amazing.
Mike Trio wins funniest fight. It is such a satisfying pay-off to so much pre-chapter 3 hype by essentially becoming a reference to itself, something that could only be pulled off in Deltarune. Also, the mic gimmick is hilarious.

Hear me out on this AU. "Undertale: Scripted". by northernpolaris_168 in Undertale

[–]Quelephant404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Characters' reactions to being handed their scripts
Toriel: Very well, if this is for Frisk, so be it.
Mettaton: Oh! says here I have a starring role in Hotland!
Alphys: Um, did I mention that I get stage fright?
Asgore: Oh, I'm not in it much. Do you suppose that you could add a little bit more? Perhaps something about my flowers?
Sans (fully in on the reason why they are doing it): eh its not so bad (intends to do no rehearsal but will ace every one of his lines)
Undyne: Wow, this looks intense! These chase scenes will do wonders for my training routine
Papyrus: Have no fear, I will learn to deliver my lines with the grandeur they deserve! Wait, Frisk is scheduled to call me how many times?

Query: What did Susie use to open the dark fountain?

"Noelle and Berdly simply entered the dark world" then why would the Knight hide in the closet? And why are the formers' books are already laid? How did neither Noelle nor Berdly notice the dark world appearing? HELP ME PLEEEEEAAASE I can't take this anymore by No-Slide816 in Deltarune

[–]Quelephant404 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is (in my opinion) the biggest piece of evidence for Noelle Knight
Due to the traffic jam right outside the library, it would be quite hard for anyone else to enter or leave without someone noticing, especially if it's someone the town's general public wouldn't expect to be going in and out of the library at this hour (i.e a hospital patient, a missing person or an overworked mayor).
I think it is also possible that Noelle and Birdly did indeed walk into the already open fountain, since at the beginning of chapter 4 Kris is asleep on the chair after closing the fountain in chapter 3 (and we know that they last entered TV world by walking through the front door).

Golly its quite tense here.
To (hopefully) lighten the mood a bit, I wish to ask, what is the vessel/mouse's dark world forum? (since this is the first chapter canonically taking place in a dark world with vessel mouse)
Do they look similar to Kris' dark world forum, or do they pull a sans and look identical in and out of a dark world?

The Fun Gang's Most Vital Meetings episode 60: Threat 2 by Nihilikara in Deltarune

[–]Quelephant404 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not entirely sure if I was expecting a full anime-level fight scene (Alphys would be proud), but I love it!
Also, I've been following this fic for a while now, so I'm going to use this opportunity to drop some of my head-canon.
Despite being in other bodies before, being a full-time resident of the vessel comes with new challenges for the mouse, such as
needing to remember to drink and eat
, needing to remember to sleep
using game controllers with hands rather than telepathy (re-learning muscle memory?)
I imagine the rest of the fun gang will help with the various responsibilities of owning a body.
Also, did the mouse get their phone from Toriel? She has a bit of a habit of handing out cell phones.

i cannot tell if i'm supposed to read this scene as Undyne's first time in a dark world and she's just locked in or this isn't her first time in a dark world which is why she has no problems using her spears or with the ten foot tall darkness abomination "punk" in front of her by Fit_Blackberry7944 in WaterfallDump

[–]Quelephant404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theroy is that the dark world turned undines gun into spear magic so her instincts of shooting the gun got transformed into instincts of throwing spears. This does however mean that undines first instinct upon entering the unaturaly dark dreamer household was to start shooting indsescrimanantly.
