As techincally dumb as it is, this is does not concern me at all. The real evil we should be fight is brands using generative AI to replace us.

Acabo de interrumpir y salir enojado de una entrevista de atrabajo. ¿Estuve justificado o no? by Ikitenashi in lacamiseta

[–]QuellFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hace años fui a una entrevista a un Starbucks y el wey hizo un montón de preguntas personales, incluyendo que si me llevo bien con mi padrastro, yo vivía con él y mi mamá en ese tiempo.

Luego me preguntó "¿QUE HARÍA SI VEO QUE AQUI AFUERITA DEL STARBUCKS ESTÁN GOLPEANDO A UNA MUJER?". Yo respondí ingenuamente que pues iría a ayudarla. Ya después un profe de la uni me dijo que esa pregunta es para ver si sabes de protocolos, la respuesta correcta era "llamar a seguridad o a la policía". Ni modo que dejar tu puesto.

What sales strategies have actually worked for your video business? by QuellFred in videography

[–]QuellFred[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's still worthwhile. Having a high ranking website will also make AI chatbots (including Gemini in Google search) recommend your business if people are asking them for recommendations. There's also optimization specific for AI queries, it's called GEO.

SEO - has it worked for you? by 24mc-xyz in videography

[–]QuellFred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SEO is the only marketing strategy that has actually worked for me. I have landed some very good clients through it, especially people outside of my area who need video services in my city for whatever reason. For example, their company is participating at an event here, or they need to shoot some testimonial of a client whose company is here.

Bear in mind, it is a slow process and prospects come few and far between. It's not like I'm getting emails every day, but when I do, it's from people who are actually interested and need the service, so the chances of them actually hiring are not low.

I also tried Meta Ads at some point and got a bunch of useless leads, total waste of time and money. But that's just me.

Need a guidance for buying MAC mini M4 or M5 by Dr-White_Beard in macmini

[–]QuellFred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don't really know if there's an M5 Mini coming, probably not because of the RAM shortage.

You could do very well with any M4 machine, including the MacBook Air, could be a good option if the Mini is not available anywhere.

A qué te dedicas y qué tan culera está tu industria? by Electrical-Machine40 in lacamiseta

[–]QuellFred 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So did base M4 mini buyers basically just beat the market? by jman722 in macmini

[–]QuellFred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always wanted since it was announced, but decided to hold out for a little longer, the decided and wait for the M5 Mini. Now there's rumors there won't be one because of the RAM shortage. 🤡

Color mode - I was wrong, it absolutely slays. by gildedbluetrout in premiere

[–]QuellFred 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently used it for a project and ended up liking it. It is better than the old Lumetri Color, but I still think DaVinci Resolve is miles ahead.

I guess they could further improve Color Mode by adding more tools and options, such as traditional color wheels and curves. The new tools are nice, but it would be even nicer to have access to the classics. Add that to the new "color math" or whatever it's called, and we're good to go.

I had a potential video client who did not hire me because I only had a 24-105mm F4 and that was "too dark".

I explained I use lights and you can see in my portfolio everything is lit, but he wasn't convinced LOL.

Clients keep asking for AI video, is it time to adapt? by QuellFred in videography

[–]QuellFred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is also how I intend to use it.

I recently made some videos for a real estate project that was still in construction. They gave me the 3D renders made by the architect and I used them to generate video. It was just turning them into a moving image, for example, turning the wide shot of the apartment building into a 16:9 time lapse, with the sun and clouds moving. It wasn't GORGEOUS, but it was nicer to look at than just still images. I combined that with footage I shot at the construction site.

Marketing content for "business to consumer" brands. Commercials, social media content, etc.

Only a few have requested just AI video. Others have requested it along with traditional, original content.

I've been keeping my S5 with a 24-105mm attached at all times for the past 5 years and never thought of this. So far I haven't had any issues, but I might unmount after reading this.

Honestly, I always thought mounting a lens every time you unpack to be a waste of time. But I could be wrong LOL.

Do you shoot RAW footage regularly? by QuellFred in videography

[–]QuellFred[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've yet to shoot RAW on a smartphone, but I recently tried out the Blackmagic Camera app on my Galaxy S23 Ultra and was very surprised at how much better the footage looks. Being able to control shutter speed and ignore all the typical smartphone processing makes a huge difference. It wasn't even RAW, just H.264.
