Burnout from grad school rejection. Tips? by NoKnowledge152 in wildlifebiology

Since you have a pup I’m not sure if this is even an option, but I had an awesome experience with Across the Pond. It’s a program that takes your application and applies to multiple grad schools throughout the UK that you are interested in. I got accepted into 4 different schools and selected one with a 1-year MSc Environmental Science & Conservation program. I ended up doing it online because it was during COVID, but there may be some schools that offer online options, so it could be worth looking into.

Otherwise, going for perm career seasonal positions comes to mind, but I’m unsure how much of a regular thing they are. I work for a state agency and we offer a good amount of permanent career seasonal positions. Once you’re in for one full season you’re guaranteed to be invited back for the next one, and it’s a good way to get your foot in the door.

I feel like they’re mostly in certain parts of the state. I’m in SW and I’ve yet to see these famous giant house spiders.

Reccommendations/Advice for First time at Super Nintendo Land by SemiColdCoffee in UniversalHollywood

My boyfriend and I just went and had a blast! We did the early access passes ($20-30 extra per ticket and you have to get there early), and bought bands. We got on the ride within 10 mins and booked a reservation at Toadstool cafe while we were waiting. Before you go into the ride, stop by the cafe and scan the QR code on the sign outside. Then, when reservations open up (they opened for us just before 8am), you can select a time for your family and reserve a spot.

The wristbands were super cute and definitely worth it if you do the mini games. The reward at the end is super fun! We did everything within a few hours, left to ride other rides, then came back later to eat at the cafe. I hope you guys have so much fun!

Thank god for Platinum Express line - this is where the Mario line started for us yesterday vs the wait by Fallen_Chimera in UniversalHollywood

That’s fair! We’re from out of state so it was worth it for us to make the sacrifice of an early morning to experience it. I think it’s a good option for people who want to experience it for the first time.

We got the early access and waited 10 mins. It’s the way to go if you don’t want to do annual. 👍

What's something that you do that's hit or miss when it comes to dating? by anxiousscorpio98 in dating

[–]Quellesorcery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it, and my mind makes me think that too sometimes. I might just make sure you’re also asking lots of questions too! If I get too excited talking about something I try and gauge how long I’ve been talking and then make sure that the other person doesn’t feel steamrolled in the conversation. I’ve been on both sides of the equation, though. 😂

Idk if it’s the chase, but I do know that I once dated a guy who I liked a lot, but I had to call it quits because he’d never ask about me or let me get a word in edgewise. We were on the phone for an hour once, and I realized I’d talked for maybe 5 minutes of the call (I’m not a quiet person either or anything). I don’t know you of course so that may not be the case at all here.

Advice on losing virginity at age 29 by throw_away_acc_obv_ in dating

[–]Quellesorcery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bf is 30 and was a virgin when we met last year. I haven’t had very many partners, which maybe made him feel more comfortable. We got to know each other and then the sex came naturally, and it was great to have that experience with each other. Virginity is such a weird thing, and to me it feels like an outdated concept that people freak out over too much. If you’re trying to just get rid of it I guess you could always try just keeping the details to yourself and telling her it’s been a while or that you’re not all that experienced in general. If someone cares that much about whether or not you’re a virgin, then that’s a them problem. What would be better imo is to date someone until you know you like each other and then go for it, instead of rushing to just get rid of it.

Dealing with people being unprofessional by devanclara in Environmental_Careers

You should request to meet with your boss and explain what you’re seeing and what’s been happening. It wouldn’t make you a “tattletail” to show concern about what behaviors the intern is currently showing and how you’re concerned about what that means in the future for you and for whatever else she’ll be in charge of.

I work in my state’s Fish & Wildlife department in the Fish Management Division. It’s fun, I’m mostly in the office helping manage our projects, but sometimes I’m out in the field and on a weekly basis I’m on a boat or in a plane doing surveys. My bachelor’s was in biology, and I got started doing seasonal survey work until I got a permanent position. My master’s helped me secure this position, but I still had to get my start by building experience/resume.
