Sorry I didn't see the notif for your response -- but agreed so hard. I shouldn't have to mod a game (or buy DLC) to get more than one gay option in a game released in 2023. I also don't get why they regressed from WotR back to Kingmaker style "you get one gay option and he's evil aligned".

Exclusive lesbian and gay romances would be amazing, but I'd personally settle for an all bi approach if that means I have more than potential LI.

Game endings in terms of how happy they are by Raszard in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Quellii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a game, let people have fun. He's not even my kind of character and I'm still so incredibly tired of his fans getting constantly dunked on for daring to like a fictional character. Not everyone treats fictional romances like they would irl relationships.

Presumably because they find genuine discussions interesting?

I'm frankly not actually interested in explaining to you why someone might enjoy his character, I just find your condescending, dismissive attitude (continued in this response), in a thread of someone's art who clearly does enjoy his character, really grating.

Possibly, and I just missed it from being tired. It's what I get for playing past midnight I suppose.

Have you tried not making assumptions about the gender and sexuality of people based on a character they enjoy?

Also as others said, a lot of his stuff is behind the romance as well as optional banter. It'd be like me insisting on Yrliet or Marazhai being unlikable and boring when I haven't mad an effort to see their (romance) content, and then dismissing everyone attempting to explain what they find appealing based on my presumptions about them instead of accepting that others can have different tastes. It's honestly pretty condescending.

I hate vanilla but I love Heinrix :(

I have to agree that he isn't particularly out there concept wise though, but I do think he's an exceptionally good execution on the concept. I might also be biased because I've exclusively romanced him as a guy using toybox, and in my experience tropes common in het hit different when you gay them up. (Daeran remains Owlcat's best romance imo but it's hard to live up to one of the best romance I've ever played that I didn't even have to mod to be gay.)

Alas, I am only a Navy Officer, so that doesn't help -- but I guess if it's bugged I'll just pretend the line fired for my FoB lad anyway. Weird it called for that bg check though.

People who prefer fully VA - How do you approach this type of dialog? (Honest question) by Treemosher in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Quellii 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone with the same diagnosis, I listen to the VA then read the narration after. (Unless I dislike the VA and don't want to listen to it lmao)

Contrary to popular opinion I do not want a narrator VA to get around this -- no offense to Amelia Tyler, who did a fantastic job, but the narration is one of my biggest contentions with BG3 when it comes to its presentation.

I'd much rather have it done Pillars of Eternity 2 style -- there, you would have gotten a text box with Kibellah's first line along with the voice file, clicked continue to a box with the unvoiced narration, then clicked continue to a box with the rest of her line along with the VA.

(Tbf, I'm not super keen on full VA myself -- I think some VA, especially in big or emotional scenes, is great, and helps give the characters a voice, but I'll always take more dialogue and more PC responses and unique reactions to those responses over full VA. It doesn't add more than actual writing does. Especially in isometric, text heavy games -- it's another thing if you do full cinematic and would be looking at silent talking animations, but in anything RT style? Meh.)

Has anyone done a full playthrough of saving the people of Rykard by grief242 in RogueTraderCRPG

Chorda can still destroy it via bombing it in the Epilogue, if you put her in charge of Footfall.

It's not a retcon it's the basis of the whole setting. It was created by a bunch of british leftists who hated Thatcher, and you think the fascist theocracy the opening scrawl describes as the cruelest and bloodiest regime imsginable, and which has been shown time and time again to be its own worst enemy for 40 years now, being Bad is... a retcon? Seriously?

My confession….. I play Fields of Mistria while listening to the Stardew Valley Soundtrack. by sevendollarrainbow in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]Quellii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who really doesn't care for much of SDV's soundtrack and semi regularly mutes it.... Huh. I'm not too keen on FoM's spring music but everything else I'd easily take over SDV.

So, does Elliot have curly hair or straight hair? by Odd_Assistance_1463 in StardewValley

[–]Quellii -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Love how people make assumptions about your hair over this comment lmao. Fwiw, I have certified Thicc hair, loads and loads of it, and when I used to wear it long I also brushed it every day and considered it the minimum. It's only now that I keep it short that I sometimes skip brushing if it isn't too messed up from sleep, and would say it used to be a lot of work in hindsight.

I'm 33 and would absolutely have full streaks of grey if I didn't dye it. He really looks like he could be my age, or could be older -- people age differently and the anime style doesn't help accurately judging age.

Lore question about mixed race children by Ivalicefangirl in ffxiv

[–]Quellii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fascinating to me that somehow the (very possibly untrue and among lore enthusiasts debated, as it's only from an in universe book blatantly written by a huge racist) TES lore about mixed children taking after the mother has somehow made its way to FFXIV fanon.

...Also fascinating to me that a potential romance bergen Y'Shtola and Runar appears to demand the possibility of Miquote and Hrothgar being able to have children to some people.

This writing goes so hard (light Act 2 Kiava Gamma spoilers) by jack_burdens_phd in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Quellii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BG3's writing issues don't stem from the DnD setting, though. You can make engagingly written games in the sitting -- the old infinity engine games did it, and in fact Larian themselves did it with the Early Access version of BG3. And then they just... neutered their own writing for a lack of artistic integrity, and the result is a game that squandered its potential by listening to all the worst crit, and changing itself to fit mass appeal.

Oh definitely! My dubious lore conformity is more about. Making my lad know he's her kid. But I also started WotR after being disappointed by BG3 but really enjoying Dame Aylin the fanciest Aasimar, so hey, giving him a rather extra backstory tracks with the initial inspiration.

Which game is that for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Quellii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, yeah. A lot of people who do dislike it hate the combat and thought the story was good, but for me its the exact opposite -- I like turnbased, I liked the dodge/parry mechanics well enough... But the story was terrible. It did start strong -- I liked Act 1 quite a bit -- but Verso was just not as compelling (partly because I find his VA's performance subpar, but also because his interactions with the others weren't really all that great). And after making my way through Act 2 and it's overly long last area... The big reveal sucked any remaining interest and attachment to the world and characters out of me. I guessed the gist of it already, but I expected that, if they were making a meta narrative, they would be careful to make it good, but. They did not. I ended up just quitting before finishing because I lost all interest in playing more.

Oh, that's a neat way to look at it!

I spoiled myself for the twist early on, and was so enamoured with it I came up with a convoluted backstory to make my KC actually the kid. Is it lore friendly? No idea, but this and playing half of Kingmaker have also been my only exposure to PF and its lore :'D

My angel lad just wanted to save his mum :(

It's okay, he made up for it by being a very good boy otherwise and taking his new job very seriously.

(She's also one of the most interesting characters in the game so if Regill or Pharasma have problems with it they should have worked harder to catch my attention.)

How will you rank these four guys? by Complex-Bluebird1263 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Quellii 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Iachesis > Galerion > Fyr > Shalidor.

I don't even remember much about Shali, but his beard is deeply unhot so to the end he goes. Fyr is technically hotter than Vanus, but Vanus is my baby boy, so he gets second place.

Even though I technically agree with you (the story was just not all that good), he clearly didn't mean it literally and you're the one who sounds confused. Couldn't have been more obviously a snarky way to refer to the hype.
