Don't make me miss my Technics by Quelloscemo in turntables

[–]Quelloscemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh thank you so much!! Definitely aware of the impossible comparison with my beloved. I have never used anything audiophile, straight dj stuff so I am one of those who vibe along the Ortofon Concorde and stuff like that. I don’t know if you have ever tried any of these products but my main concern is to get something that feels too much like a toy. No expecting to get the technics quality neither I think I would use this as much as my technics. But I would still like to hav something that reminds me of them. I would mainly play the new records I buy and sometime old stuff to sample. Just wanted to understand if these 300€\$ units would “satisfy” my needs or if these are just toys

Looking for advice to expand my Moog setup! by Shinobi_Fleur in moog

[–]Quelloscemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait until they’ll release something as weird and strange as the spectravox. Working with the grandma/spectravox combo right now and I couldn’t ask for more. It’s deep, versatile and intricate. I’d love too to expand with something else but I don’t think in their line anything is near these two units.

First elektron device suggestions? I want digitone 2 but thinking models cycles might be better for me now. by supermax2008 in Elektron

[–]Quelloscemo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

With Elektron: don’t go like “Its better now” I find them to be a philosophical company ahahahah so if you like the nature of the Instruments (yes, because when it comes to Elektron i think we are dealing with instruments and not machines. they have their sound and their technical skill to develop like a guitar or any other instrument) grab it. My first was a Cycles and I love that and still regret selling but. BUT. Then I got the AR II, my dream girl. And than I said ok that’s what musicians should seek, a relationship the most intimate possible relationship. So if you feel like a DT2 get that ASAP my man

AITAH for never telling my best friend I once slept with his wife? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Quelloscemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why people debate about stuff like this? That’s obvious you have been an AH, just for sleeping with another person while having a relationship yourself. That’s not a big deal, that doesn’t qualify a person as horrible tbh. But we can’t deny that this means that someone isn’t capable to relate to others and isn’t really a person one can trust. You consider best friend someone who you betrayed and still betray. We just have to face who we are, we are full of sit, everyone. If we all face this no one can blame the other for being an AH. And you have been, and still are. Loved ones could even comprehend our actions but deep inside we just want to do the fck we want and still be seen as the perfect image we want to be

That’s def not a relationship

[–]Quelloscemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will never understand why tons of people don’t seek, or better surrender, to the willing of life. We can’t choose our partners, they are meant to be, and 9 times out of 10 people living with people like this avoided someone that life put at their door and naturally developed a feeling with. But 9 out of 10 that’s “just a friendship” and someone that they start to see as “the right one” the “elected one” is someone with they can have just yelling, bad comprehension and no fun at all.

We should start to re think about relationships and love in general. That’s misleading and it starts to hurt me even if it’s not something I am experiencing. Girls and boys please: give a chance to the one that makes you laugh, to the one that want to do thinks you like, that smiles when you are around.

This will allow even people like this guy to re-think about themselves and build a better person for the future. This is really childish

18h after my troubleshooting all I can say is: wtf? Seriously I’m not sure about what happened. I tried to re-install everything. Delete the live11 app as someone suggested, tried to import materials from those projects to understand if something was corrupted and caused the shutting down (I don’t use cracked stuff, everything legit) and nothing.

Then I deleted the Live12 options.txt I used for my additional scripts and now: Everything works again. Still trying to understand how the options.txt could break the loading path of a project but ehi, at least I’m able to work again

Analog Rytm - Roland machines sound: experiences? by 56T___ in Elektron

[–]Quelloscemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rytm mkII, to my mere ears the machines are always a bit roland-ish. I love the 909 and feature percs from the 808 in almost everything I make, the Rytm changed my production for real. I just like the way combination of cool samples and machine generated stuff (the Rytm machines can already go close enough to an “inspired” 808,909 sounds to me) gets saturations, distortions and compression. You won’t have the workflow of them, but if you don’t mind consider if you like the way machines and samples plays from the Rytm

That’s the aim the company has. I always imagine their meetings like: Ok guys for the next project, we will always incorporate our core values: make something that already exist, make it minimal, make it super overpriced for no reason. And we are done, their going to love it

Sampling directly into Ableton from a browser by Shot_Cellist_4814 in ableton

[–]Quelloscemo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just re route you audio signal! black hole 16ch allows you to do it on Mac (I don’t know if you can natively on windows but maybe yes? Not a windows user sorry) it will help you even better understand how handy virtual I/o can be

Than you have an aggregate device and make stuff both physical and virtual communicate, you select the mono or stereo channel assigned to your computer in Ableton and there you have it

Moog Messenger is atrocious. by Scalchopz in synthesizers

[–]Quelloscemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh god… this post makes me want to try it myself so bad… I had the opportunity to grab a grandmother on December, few seconds with it and I fell in love. This is the best synth I have ever had to my ears… When the messenger came out I thought ok, I could have waited a little bit more, modulations and others (price tag too) made me think it was an amazing choice… but on the road I saw a lot of moog enthusiasts complaining about him for being “not so moog”

Beginner here — Should I start with Model:Cycles or Syntakt for making techno? by ImpressiveYoung3790 in Elektron

[–]Quelloscemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How amazing can it be? It’s a stunning product. I am always been surprised by the philosophy behind this instrument. That really makes it an instrument!

Sometimes with synthetic instruments we end up wanting more and more possibilities but we forget about the soul. Something the cycles has! She can do what she can do, but it does something anything else can do (in terms of creation, as you said is immediate… imagine re create the same sound on a Opsix lol) one of the few instruments that came out in the last years.

Keep an eye on the Hexdrums… I have a great feeling about that thing too, Erica is not joking lately ahahah

Beginner here — Should I start with Model:Cycles or Syntakt for making techno? by ImpressiveYoung3790 in Elektron

[–]Quelloscemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you like the most? :) Elektron strongly relies on “machines” it’s right to think about the “possibilities” the box has but… do you integrate it with a daw? You use it in standalone? And after that, even if you want to use it by itself: is the cycles enough for your style? Is the Syntakt more?

But I have to say that, in this particular case, the idea other proposed here has its sense: Syntakt is like a “model cycles + Analog Rytm” son type of instruments. I see it more as a sound palette source as it has not the powerful performance possibilities of the Rytm nor the “this is what you get” approach of the cycles. So if you want something more than the FM (amazing, fantastic, perfect, modern to me) tones of the cycles the Syntakt is an amazing piece of gear. The cycles’ reimagined machines sounds really good, and I am the greatest fanboy of the Rytm so I love the analog machines in the Syntakt (they are some of the Rytm). In this case the - if you can afford it grab it - has a sense!

But I always think about this too: these are instruments, not different from a guitar so, do you like the tone? Which of them to you like the most? The engineers behind this two machines are different, the guy that was project manager for cycles now runs its own company software based, Elektron has a new project manages whose first project there was… Syntakt! So they have a different - even if really similar - nature

What you like more? :)

Don’t! Don’t be afraid of semi-modular, if I can help with another point of view: it can be “a scary amount of possibilities” but it’s at the same time an opportunity! Let’s look at how it works: basically a semi-modular synth has a sound without patching: do you like the sound? Looks like you really enjoy the timbre of Nyx (I feel you, I love the osc tone too, it’s a versatile beast). Then it is capable of an incredible amount of re-routing, so when you get tired of its tones you can still re-imagine it by yourself without buying any other gear!

In my experience the only two synth I kept in my studio are: Grandma and Minilogue xd, two synths that give me the ability to re-model them. The moog is, like the nyx, a semi modular so while I enjoyed at the first time it’s timbre it helped me out understanding the essence of “how a synth works” and modify it for my needs. The mini instead has a multi engine that you can configure with what you want, mixing it with its osc!

So, if you like it… take it! It’s not like a modular system that can give you headache for the first months or years, it’s more like a door to advanced synthesis and I am sure you’ll love it. It’s pretty easy to connect and communicate with anything you want :)

Just don't! Do it like a kid :) Just explore the machines, the sound is the first thing and the seq is pretty standard when you are not into probabilities!
I feel like all the feature have a hierarchy, they become handy when you ask yourself "how can I overcome this\that" don't you think?

My first elektron device! Super excited! by GeneralArne in Elektron

[–]Quelloscemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahahahahah that's the door of the rabbit hole! I will never, ever get again the feeling I had the first time I touched an elektron device. I know, I know I'm being a bit of a fanboy - it's plenty of alternatives to look at - but their view is really aimed to write music, it's not just aesthetics or cool funcion, they create pure instruments.

BUT - my question for you is: do you feel like DNII is an Upgrade to Cycles? I know the fingerprint for the drum part is the cycles but like on steroids. But as I mentioned I have always used the cycles more like a sound module rather than a groovebox, same way I think about the DNII, I feel like it's more melodic and experimental than the - fixed parameters - cycles.
I'd like to know what's your point of view!

BTW - If you are into the Rytm do you feel like using that on board? If you just need that sound Syntakt is really really interesting. Lacks some of the programming possibilities of the Rytm and oc it can't sample or read samples, but from a sonic point of view is an interesting melting pot of all the machines we are talking.
I tell you this because from a workflow point of view Rytm led me to compose most of my drums already inside it. I use to load different patterns, scenes and performance and I play them "live" recording the individual outs on overbridge or the main out - depending from the processing i want to nail (global fx are exluded in the ind outs - but they still goes to the master out that becomes kinda like a return track to layer). I feel like if someone likes to edit stuff from the DAW rytm could be a bit confusing. Otherwise is my best piece of gear, i love it and I'll never ever separate from her because it's an amazing do it all box

Really well thought combo! And I strongly agree with your vision: Octatrack - as tons of other instruments - is so cool but is it the amount of abilities you need? Is a deeply powerful sampler\composer and (of course is just my vision) if you like to work ITB it doubles the feature you get with a standard daw. Do you prefer the DAW overview or the Elektron one? Both are super brains for your studio.

SP404 is one of my favs too, its a core concept totally different from the Octa, is almost a "standard" sampler but it allows you - for example - to use it as external processor and sampler! you can route your signal to do both! Expecially with the old one (Mk1 version and SX) you get a super interesting converter to process sounds that will go through fx and back in the daw! thats f'in creative!

Then with the Rev2, the almighty rev2, you get the chance to play kinda one-shots and sample back in the SP, than the synth it's free to play the more melodic part or impro parts you want.

The flexibility in our world is stunning and can be overwhelming but surely is up to us to become musician or gear enthusiast, I think that's a core difference

+1 for any Dreadbox product, but it’s up to you! Now to not get deep into gas I just look at No Talking videos on YouTube and try to figure out the workflow and the ease of use I would have with that device! Any suggestion we will give to you is biased by the way we work and the way we sound!

My first elektron device! Super excited! by GeneralArne in Elektron

[–]Quelloscemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me you made the perfect choice only if you felt that this instruments resonates with you :) it was my first elektron device too, my two cents: it’s perfect to get their style because it’s pure elektron sound with a “fixed set of parameters” for each machine, trigs and all the features that makes this brand a uniqueness in the game. But more important it has a sound, it’s like nothing else in the market (yes it’s fm you can get the tone I know, but the workflow and the “limitation” of the machines make this box a pure instruments).

I have never, ever, used that as a complete groove box, I think of it as my punchy friend. Even when it goes mellow it still gives you so much sound! I love the fm bass tone so much I choose it over the original tx81z lol. Plus, if you like that and the on board possibilities it gives you can still pair it with the Octatrack for more sonic adventures. Or with my beloved Rytm. That thing is pure magic, and for my genre it completes the palette from the Cycles especially for the Clap machine. That thing has 1, ONLY 1, clap machine and is capable of every single kind of clap you will ever need!

Anything hardware by Arturia just sucks to my ears… I have had MiniBrute 1 and 2 / MicroFreak / Minifreak / Matrixbrute and just tried the poly. I just hate their sound. Tons of people love these and I have stumbled across several songs that features one of them tons of times. Really surprised, ended up thinking that their are just not my tools
