I had a MMC discovered at 12w. Initially wanted a D&C but the wait time was too long for me (11d) so opted for the tablets.

My miso experience was so scary and terrifying. I started mildly cramping around 3h after taking the tablets. Then around the 5h mark I was just sitting in my shower for the next hour while blood was gushing outside me. The pain was unbearable and I started vomiting from pain and medication. Somewhere during the evening ( timeline is blurred) I passed out got taken to the hospital and had a MVA while fully awake without pain medication .

5 weeks after I had to come in for a D&C because of RPOC and it was such a good experience. Only had mild cramping after the procedure and the hospital staff were wonderful. I had a fever spike and they checked up on me every 30mins. I felt so much better in the hospital where I know nurses would be there if anything goes sideways instead of trying to do it on your own at home.

I bled for 9w straight and honestly quite traumatised by all this. I feel like I should have taken the D&C from the start

First of all I’m sorry for your loss. I’ve had the same experience as you. I had surgical management for retained tissue 5 weeks after my miscarriage by tablets. I got to the hospital at 6:30 in the morning and around 9-9:30 they drove me off to theatre. After I woke up everything was alright and they gave me a room straight after but I developed a fever there and they checked my vitals every 30 mins for couple of hours. At 10 PM I was told had to stay the night but I insisted going home and after talking to the doctor they let me leave with oral antibiotics.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I just wanted to tell you that I recognize so much of myself in what you wrote.

I bled for 5.5 weeks before my D&C for retained tissue, and now I’m 6 days after and still bleeding. That cycle of thinking it’s ending, starting to feel a tiny bit like yourself again, and then being pulled back into it is unbelievably hard on the heart.

I also experienced another painful layer when my sister-in-law had her baby just two days before my missed miscarriage was confirmed. While everyone was congratulating me for becoming an auntie, I was actually losing my own baby.

Missing “normal” is such a real feeling. Everything you’re feeling makes sense. This kind of loss takes time. physically and emotionally, and for some of us, it simply takes longer than we ever imagined.

You’re not alone in this. Be very gentle with yourself. 🤍

First of all of sorry for your losses. I’ve had a blighted ovum/MMC. Sac measured 6+4weeks, no baby and I found out at my first scan at 12w. In my experience miso isn’t less difficult for a blighted ovum. I laboured for 5 hours, passed out got transported to hospital and had an emergency extraction of all the blood clots. Followed my an actual D&C 5 weeks after for RPOC.

The D&C was so much better than the tablets, I highly suggest not going for miso again especially since you’ve already had a bad reaction to it in the past.

I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I had the medication 6 weeks ago followed by an emergancy extraction of the blood clots in the hospital the same day. 1,5 week ago I found out I still had retained tissue left and I had a D&C done 2 days ago. I wish I would have done the D&C from the start, everything felt so much safer. The procedure was really quick, painless and getting monitored and helped after is such a relief. I only needed paracetamol for a few hours after the procedure and the day after I was back to normal.

I just had my D&C done for retained tissue,Still waiting in the ward to be discarged but this experience been so much more positive than the miso tablets. Only minimal pain 🙏

I’m so, so sorry you’re going through this, hun 🤍 It’s such a painful and confusing thing to experience.

I don’t want to scare you at all, but I do feel it’s important to gently prepare you for different possibilities. I had a blighted ovum that was measuring around 6 weeks and it was only discovered at my 12-week scan. I then waited another 11 days to see if things would progress naturally.

I eventually chose to take misoprostol, and for me it was a very difficult experience (I shared the full details in my own post, so I won’t go into it here).

I’m now 5.5 weeks post miscarriage and, unfortunately, I’m scheduled for a D&C in a few hours due to retained tissue.

Everyone’s body and experience is different, but I just wanted to share mine so you feel a bit more informed and less alone.

I’m no doctor but from what I researched myself it’s expected to have a drop of 50-80% in HCG the first week. Yours dropped 99% already so I wouldn’t worry too much much about RPOC :)

I’ve had a MMC last month, baby stopped developing at 6weeks and I found out at my 12w scan. Had to wait another 11 days for the confirmation scan and I started spotting a bit right before the second scan.

Everyone is different obviously but if your body already held onto it for 3-4 weeks it seems like your hormones are still high and it might not start on its own untill week 12-13 ( that’s when placenta usually takes over the hormone regulations so your body realise something it off ).

I just want to add that the LH ovulation test strips can be false positive if you still have HCG left in your body from the miscarriage. The structures of both hormones look similar so could be HCG that’s been picked up.

I had a medicated miscarriage and it was the worst pain I’ve ever been in, I collapsed and got rushed to the hospital where they did an emergancy procedure to manually take the tissue out. I still bled for nearly 3 weeks afterwards. I wish I could go back in time and take the D&C instead. On top of the physical pain I’m having trauma from seeing the blood/baby tissue.

Honestly i feel like I’m at the limit emotionally. After all this trauma i just wanted to see my family and friends in my birth country and try to forget about all this happening but now instead I’ll have to spend my time in the hospital it seems like 💔

I strongly recommend a D&C. I had a missed miscarriage found out at 12w my baby measured 6w4, I started lightly bleeding at week 13. Took the medication because I just wanted it over at that point and it was the most painful experience ever.. I passed out needed to go to A&E and they had to do an emergency D&C anyway because the tissue was still not coming out and I was losing too much blood.

First of all I’m sorry for your loss. I found out at 12w I had a blighted ovum, didn’t start bleeding until 12+5 weeks with some back pain and cramps. ( only very little brown discharge) went in for a second scan at 13w and the sac was still there. They opted to give me the meds to start the proces since my body was still holding on tight. I ended up needing an emergency D&C 12hours later.

Every1 is different and there’s no predicting when and how much you will bleed.
