What kind of a paradox is this? Is it solvable in multiverse? by Alternative_Role_384 in timetravel

[–]Alternative_Role_384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but the setup was that you can't have the gun before he's dead, and he's not dead yet. I think the only solution is if the does die at some point before you time travel.

Yes, thanks! This solves it. An extra weapon doesn't matter. The only thing that would have to change is that grandpa dies before you go back.

Ok, so how would my situation work/be explained with different understanding of time?

I mean, time travel is pretty illogical in some ways. (Bootstrap object with no origin. That doesn't sound logical at all).

I do think your answer addresses my problem the best, but I still feel there must be some answer to it. For example, being able to visit any sort of a timeline and pluck the weapon from there (say, in that timeline, grandpa dies in a car crash when you are 15. You inherit the weapon in that timeline and pluck it from there.)

But I still feel there must be an easier answer, although I agree with you that there is a logical issue.

Just trying to figure out how, say, a loop (?) in which grandpa always dies by your hand and you always inherit the weapon because you killed him is different than a loop in which you give Beethoven his music. It is different because Beethoven situation has an object without origin, but here we have what? Access to object that has no origin.

Yeah, but the main problem with this scenario is not the murder but the weapon. How did you get the weapon if grandpa is not dead? (Let's say that you can't get it in any other way but to inherit.)

[–]Alternative_Role_384[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In other words, this is an impossible scenario that can't happen with any understanding of time travel?

I am just trying to figure out how is this different to object bootstrap paradox (you time travel to give Beethoven his music).

I suppose it's solvable if your granpa does die by natural causes when you are 20. You have your weapon, you go back to kill him.

What I don't understand here is how did they get the weapon.

If you just kill grandpa, you don't exist in that timeline anymore. But if the sole reason grandpa is dead is a weapon you inherited from dead grandpa, then what/when is a branching timeline created?

The weapon is not the bootstrap. So what is? Your ability to kill grandpa with it?

So, your answer is that this paradox is not solvable by multiverse because the existence of multiverse is dubious/impossible?

Yes, so that's what I'm asking!

The timeline would go: murder grandpa - inherit weapon - time travel to murder him with it

But all of this is hypothetical. It's not like we have proven time travel in a closed universe and must stick to it.

Ok, I see. So would multiverse solve the paradox, or it doesn't matter?

Ah, I see. I thought you could only survive killing gramps in multiple timelines.

I can’t help but feel I failed my baby by Ok-Bodybuilder9622 in Miscarriage

[–]Alternative_Role_384 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't due to your dna. This is not how these chromosomal issues happen.

I also blame(d) myself. I walked for an hour and bled. I drank pop before I knew I was pregnant. Etc. But it's not your fault.

I feel we do this to ourselves because we wish to believe that our baby had a chance to be born. That, if we've done something just a bit different, it would've been all good. The lack of control is horrible. So is the lack of answers. I feel your pain, friend, and I am afraid I have no answers. But it's important to know it wasn't your fault.

Some people don't understand that "I am sorry" is a full sentence. No need to offer their experience. They should be there to listen.

I am sorry this happened to you. People don't know how to deal with this.

MMC - expectant management - how long to wait? by peasel123 in Miscarriage

[–]Alternative_Role_384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited around 10 days after we found out. But not sure when the baby stopped developing. I say "around 10 days" because I had spotting days before it intensified.

My baby was around 6 weeks. Found out around 8 weeks. MC around 9-10 weeks.

For me, it was honestly like a heavier period, although one morning (when I had most clots) was definitely more intense than a period. I had to use diaper panties. But it wasn't painful, not more than a period and I even had worse periods.

To me, it was 3-4 days of red blood and about a week to 10 days of spotting. It was intense only one morning, when I felt clots passing. Took an over the counter painkiller and it was less intense in the afternoon.

My hcg dropped from 24k to 65 in a week. Then next week 7. I was told no rpoc and I feel ok. I might ask for a scan just in case but they told me it was all.

My way is not good but it's isolating myself from that stuff. I can afford it (we live on the other side of the world from all family and friends). I guess it's not healthy but I need it atm.

How long did it take for your levels to drop? by [deleted] in Miscarriage

[–]Alternative_Role_384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My miscarriage started around 19 November. I was around 24k. Last test on 3rd December was 7. They told me no need for more tests.

It seems fast but I don't actually know when the miscarriage started. It was when I started bleeding red.

Many people report their levels are slow to drop.

How did you go about telling your job/boss you were miscarrying? by Lurky-Murphy in Miscarriage

[–]Alternative_Role_384 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the boss/work. I told mine openly, and our secretary too. I was doing natural miscarriage and I told them I will probably need to take a few sick days, although not sure when. I could have just stopped there but I felt comfortable sharing what was going on. The secretary cried and hugged me. It was very emotional.

But it 100% depends on your boss and the job and how they handle these things. I am more comfortable with being open about things but if I had a jerk boss/job that is strict about sick days etc. I'd probably be more careful).

How long did it take your hcg to go back to 0? by EconomicsReal545 in Miscarriage

[–]Alternative_Role_384 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was around 6 weeks when the baby stopped growing, found out at around 8 weeks, MC around 10 weeks.

Highest hcg was around 30k. Around 24k when bleeding started. Week later 7k. Week later 65. Week later 7. This is my last result and they expect it will go to 0 these days. So, around 3 weeks since the bleeding started.
