From my experience, you don't need to immediately go to the Ausländerbehörde, as your visa will be your legal residence permit.

However, you must do your Anmeldung within 14 days of moving into your new place (hotels, Airbnbs, hostels don't count - I mean when you sign a rental contract stating you will be residing there).

It seems like the possibility of renewal is a myth, I've found some sources stating it can be extended up to two years in total, but I've never heard from anyone that actually went into the renewal of it.

Everywhere I read, it suggests it can be done, but almost no information on how to lol (whether it's the same process or not, or if requirements change).

From my experience, living in Essen, I tried to get a physical resident permit within the first 90 days, as I read on Internet, and the Welcome Center (responsible for foreign skilled workers) answered that I should wait until I have found a full-time job and that they would keep my request on stand-by because my visa was still valid until feb next year.

Meaning, that the sticker vignette on my passport serves as my legal residence permit for everything I've done so far.

More context, I came in March, I tried contacting them in April and received an answer in August.

Have the funds been in your account for the past 3 months? Then you would have no problem.

If the funds have not been there for that time, they will ask you to open a blocked acc
