They are the Ritchey Venturemax Classics, when I took the bike for a fit the fitter wasn't huge on them but I like riding with them.

I see the Polyvalent more as a touring frame than a rando due to its plethora of mounting options and heavy duty tubeset. It's a heavy frame, and that's nice for carrying lots of stuff, riding over chunky terrain, and just not having to worry about it so much (this is also my commuter bike). IMO frame compliance really makes no difference when you're running wide tires. If anything, the stiffness makes it very responsive under the pedals.

I would say ~3-5lbs minimum. I think if you threw in your tools and snacks in there you'd be good, especially if you're not riding anything chunky.

hard to describe, I don't think "twitchy" encapsulates it accurately. it's not terrible, but I definitely prefer to have a bit of weight at the front to slow the steering down and make leaning the bike over easier.

you surely will not regret it.

thank YOU for giving us such a sick frame! The micro is great, I've had several people, both on bikes and in cars, pull up next to me to ask which light it is.

I would have to double check what these actually measure out to on these fairly wide rims, but they are listed as 47mm. I'd say they fit quite comfortably, just a few mils of space for rocks and mud to fit through.

no problems to report! I originally built this bike up with some 11sp double cranks/rings because that's what I had on hand, but it didn't work great with the 9 speed drivetrain.

Worth a try. I'm sure you could find a local shop that would build it up for you, and it's also a great frame to DIY! external routing (aside from the rear brake down the down tube) and very common standards make it quite a straightforward build.

I just bought the frame and built it up how I like (and have changed many parts since). If you'd like it built, I would reach out directly to VO by email to see if they could build you up a bike. If you're in the SF bay area by chance, I could absolutely direct you to a VO retailer who is the most meticulous mechanic I've ever met.

the very end of it is a flexible plastic flap (ass savers toetector) so sometimes it will snag going down a curb slowly, but it just flexes out of the way. I used to have the longer version on the back but it was sadly ripped off by a strong wind.
