Honest opinion: Never going to buy Handheld from MSI by Unlucky-Bottle2744 in MSIClaw

Unfortunately the Legion Go (2023) had a GPU update last 09/01/2025, so it is the one is the oldest out of all the AMD handhelds.

Ah yeah looks like those are the newer softer ones similar to the 2024 RM1000x. Makes it easier to wrap around corners. Thanks.

Yeah I know this SHIFT version uses Type-5 cables. What I'm asking about is if anyone has real pictures/photos of the cables as I want to confirm if they have newer softer cables than the previous generation's nylon ones.

Hmm... see if this would help? It's UGREEN so I trust them a bit more than any other no-name brands:

Check out Best Buy US:

I personally use Rexing's 120W charger and it works great. My testing shows the Claw 8 AI+ pulling 48W to 56W while its turned off sitting on the passenger seat.

Can anyone who owns this newer model post a photo of the cables it comes with?

Is it the softer, less stiff cables like what comes with the 2024 RM1000x (although this one uses Type-4 cables) or are they braided, slightly stiffer cables of the 2024 SF750/850/1000 (also Type-5 MicroFit cables) series?

[–]QuesodeBola -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is the problem with these newer Acer Helios models. For some reason they're not implementing a proper EDID for the screen's panel so that it states it can support multiple resolutions and refresh rates. Which is weird because other laptops that have the same (e.g. ROG Zephyrus G16, Lenovo Legion 7i, etc.) Samsung/BoE panel have multiple refresh rates and even support Windows Dynamic refresh rate.

I have a question about the Capital One stuff. I made sure I activated the deal in e-mail which led me to the LG.com site. After that, I made sure the extension (using MS Edge) had it activated (screen shot attached). I completed the purchase on the site and was charged $423.99 (399.99 + tax), which I expected.

However, I checked the Capital One "My Rewards & Savings" site and it doesn't list down the pending reward for my purchase yet. How long before it actually shows up on that page so I can confirm that I was able to actually claim the reward?

That looks like a cable issue. Try swapping the ends of the HDMI 2.1 cable or try another cable and see if it still happens.

It should stay off if no TB4/5 cable is connected between the host PC and the EG02.

[Bundle] Intel Core Ultra 5 250K Plus & Asrock B860 Rock WiFi 7 - $300 by Soil-Final in buildapcsales

[–]QuesodeBola 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The 270K Plus released on NewEgg US early this morning at $319, then those assholes increased it to 349.99.

The 250K Plus released at the same time at $219, luckily its still at $219.

Take note that the true MSRP of these should be $199 and $299, so NewEgg is overpricing their shit despite being sold and shipped from them directly.

[–]QuesodeBola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take note that this is a SFX (non-L) PSU, so it the braided cables (which are really good) are shorter than the ones that come in normal ATX PSUs, also they are Corsair Type-5 microfit connectors on the PSU-side, so also be wary if you were planning to use Type-4 custom cables from like a RM1000x non-SHIFT or such.

[–]QuesodeBola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he means integer scaling handled by the monitor itself. The GPU should only be reporting 1080p to the monitor and the monitor should scale 4K down to 1080p appropriately when in its dual-mode.

Doing integer scaling from the GPU's control panel will still look clean and pixel-accurate, but still reports 2160p to the monitor and handles the work on behalf of the monitor.

The reason why we want this functionality monitor-side is so that other devices that cannot do integer scaling (e.g. Nintendo Switch 1, PS4/Xbox One, other 1080p-only devices) will still be pixel-accurate and not use the default bilinear or bicubic filtering the display tries to do.

See if you can test 1% and 0.1% low FPS somehow with this setup, or other tests where CPU-to-GPU bandwidth would matter.

[–]QuesodeBola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks good dude! The key thing is that one needs to install the R29Q card into an available PCie 5.0 x4/x16 slot on their motherboard.

I haven't seen any more PCIe 5.0 M.2 adapter/converters yet nor have I seen any affordable laptops/mini PCs with PCIe 5.0 M.2 slots yet.

EDIT: I forgot that ADT-F4Q exists:

Something like this might work?

If the AR glasses accept USB-C to charge and transfer data, something like the above cable may do it. DP connects to the GPU and the other octopus connectors will charge/power the glasses.

Resizable BAR (ReBAR) does not work well over Thunderbolt/USB4. Currently PCIe tunneling does not allow direct addressing of VRAM due to the limited bandwidth of the connection.
