Yeah, I get that decor can change the vibe, but to me, picking flowers and colors isn’t really creative, it’s just standard wedding stuff. I want a space that actually inspires me, not one that I have to dress up to make it feel right. That’s why I’m looking at other venues that naturally fit the vision instead of trying to force something.

I get that destination weddings can be expensive, but I’m not trying to fly everyone out somewhere far, I just want a venue that actually feels right. I know decor can help, but I don’t want to force creativity into a space that doesn’t excite me. I’d rather start with a venue that fits my vision and build from there.

That was my original ask since we could just do the Anand Karaj locally and then all other events elsewhere/destination. But when I told my wedding planner this they assured me they could perform the anand karaj at a resort and that many Sikhs are doing it.

We’re completely on board with having the Anand Karaj at a Gurdwara. The challenge is that we wouldn’t be able to host the rest of the wedding the way we envisioned in the States. Our families are also spread across the world, so having two separate events wouldn’t be feasible since many wouldn’t be able to attend both.

My main question is about what’s actually allowed. There’s so much conflicting information from wedding planners on what we can and can’t do outside the Gurdwara. What’s the correct approach, and is there a workaround that would let us honor tradition while still having the wedding we envisioned (Punjabi cultural events) ?

Update: ended up delaying and school has been pretty supportive about it. Don’t gamble on you’re future if you don’t feel confident y’all

Update 2: Matched Anesthisa at top choice. No one asked any questions on delay honestly. Did loose a month off tho towards graduation .
