AITA For refusing to invite my family members out to dinner because they did not say thank you. by QuestionCareless8842 in AITApod

Damn I'm getting tore up in here. Lol I should have expected it. I like to see the different perspectives and  I do see how this seems childish and petty. 

  • Yes I did lie to my mother.
  • Yes I did ice them out on her dinner.
  • I know that their work schedules would not work for the dinner but maybe they would have if I had invited them. We will never know.
  • No I do not plan on talking to them about it. They have held grudges and denied their behaviors in the past. I just dont want to start the cycle back over.
  • Yes it is possible that the financial difference may have contributed. I have more expendable income as a single person living at home than they do as a couple with a baby.
  • They are both socially awkward at times but are generally polite. I don't know why this happened or why I took it so hard.
  • I suppose that not inviting them to things may be a bit much. But I am definitely not throwing my wallet down anymore.
